The Apprenticeship (Kazin)

A tad north of the trade district is where I'l find the best jeweler in town. Or at least that's what I was told.... Strangely I've never heard of the place. "Shimmer Jewelry" it was called. I just hope I can impress... When I heard the head jeweler was looking for an apprentice I almost fainted. It would be a dream come true for me.

Of course I have to find the place first....

(after an hour of searching)

So it just so happens I managed to walk right past the place twice. It was a dingy little store... not much to look at on the outside for sure. But as I stepped through the doorway I was completely swept away. Display cases holding the most beautiful rings and necklaces I had ever seen in my life. Each piece showed evidence of the mastery of whomever crafted it.

"Ahem." I jumped when I heard the voice behind me... I was completely absorbed by the jewelry. "Can I help you son?" I turned around to look at who had the nerve to address me as "son." A grizzled man, looked about in his late 40's. Did not look at all like the master jeweler I had imaged in my head.

"Yes actually, I was looking for the head jeweler here." He only confirmed what I had already suspected.

"You're speaking to him. Name's James. Those eyes... you a Kelvic or something?"

"Mine's Kazin, it's a pleasure. And yes I am a Kelvic, I shift into an osprey." I made the mistake of shaking his hand as he nearly crushed mine. "I had heard that you were looking for an apprentice?"

" An osprey, huh. It's dangerous letting people know what animal you are in this town. Well anyway you heard correctly. Do you see my work? I pour my heart and soul into it."

"I believe you, everything I've seen in here is absolutely stunning."

"Why thank you. Yes, my work is my life. But I started thinking, what about when my life ends? What if I don't make the perfect piece that I've sought to make my entire life? That's when I decided that I needed to have someone to pass my knowledge down to. Call it a midlife crisis, if you will. Well, I'm assuming seeing as how you asked about it that you're interested?"

"Yes sir, actually I'm extremely interested after seeing what you have for sale here. It's always been my dream to be the world's best jeweler. Kings and queens would buy their jewelry from me. I have a pretty good knowledge of precious metals and gemstones. Well, if I do say so myself that is."

"You've also got heart. I can see it in those eyes of yours. Heart is important in this line of work. The pay is 10gm an hour. You start tomorrow at 10 AM. Don't be late."

My heart almost jumped out of my chest. "Oh thank you sir! I promise you won't regret this!"

"you best make sure I don't. But strangely enough I've got faith in you. If you have any pieces or design sketches bring them in tomorrow, I'd like to see some of your work."

"Yes sir. 10 AM sharp. I'll be there."

I walked out of that dingy little shop with a huge grin on my face. Finally I can start working on getting closer to my goals. The dream starts now.

Hello Chase!

There are a few problems here. Please fix them before continuing the thread, and PM me when you are finished.

1. You have an intervention on your CS, so this thread can not be continued until that's fixed as well

2. You need to discuss an occupation with me, and have it added to your SS thread. I have not yet recieved a PM from you about any kind of job, so this thread would not yet be valid or possible.

3. Though its not a requirement, its generally recommended that you write in third person, past tense, rather than first person.

Thanks!
