Appearance:Speaking from a purely physiological point of view, there is little to Carver Salt that would cause one to assume he posed any sort of serious threat. Though possessed of a fairly respectable physique, Carver’s noticeable lack of both height and sheer mass simply does not afford him any intimidating prowess. Weighing little more than one hundred & fifteen pounds and standing at an unimpressive sixty-two inches, Carver’s metabolism seems to force him away from the acquisition of any sort of muscle mass or even fat, leaving him slimmer than he would like.

Born with his mother’s prominent, beakish nose and her downwards slanting eyes, Carver’s general facial structure tends to inspire in others the idea that, were he to be some sort of animal, a duck would be most fitting. Similarly, Carver’s deep set smile lines, which frequently see further reinforcement, does little to dissuade this impression.

Overall, Carver Salt is little more than an unimposing and relatively friendly seeming individual.

Or he would if it were not plainly evident that he is a half-zith.

Typically garbed in long-sleeved and form-fitting shirts, though he has been known to wear a tunic every now and then, Carver does little to hide his darker-than-could-be-expected complexion and eyes or the slight protrusions upon his back, tell-tale signs of his unique heritage. Carver tends to carry himself with as much an air of quiet confidence as he can muster, complimented by his smile, which is careful to avoid flashing his sharper than normal teeth, and his near ramrod straight posture.

Character Concept

Though he has never held the intention of doing so, Carver tends to impress onto people the idea that he is a gentle soul which, despite its inherent fragility, refuses to bend or bow to the often barbarous influences of the outside world. Determined as he is to remain both an optimist and a humanitarian, Carver possesses both the self-awareness and acuity to understand that misanthropy can, at times, seem like the most logical of defences against the sharp sting of disappointment. As such, Carver tends to take what some consider to be an infuriatingly pitying stance when confronted by both pessimists and cynics.

However, despite what these beliefs tend to imply of Carver’s thoughtfulness, those who know him know he is anything but a push-over; rather, Carver is a man much infatuated with the very idea of determination, and as such, he possesses the ability to devote himself wholeheartedly to an ideal or goal. Carver’s ability to devote himself to something is topped only by his willingness to trudge on, come hell or high water, Carver Salt is willing to be the last and only man standing, should it ever come to that.

In short, Carver is a dedicated optimist and humanitarian, who, despite his understanding that those traits tend to lend themselves to the naïve, refuses to humor the alternatives.


Character History

Born of the ill-advised union of two individuals who only recently came into their respective adulthoods, Carver, like his elder brother, was a child conceived out of wedlock. However, unlike his brother’s father, Carver’s chose to have no further interaction with his progeny or the woman who gave birth to him and all but disappeared. Truth be told, Carver has always questioned why his father would choose to avoid taking up the role he has always felt he was obligated to assume, but he has always kept these thoughts to himself, if only to avoid being the cause of undue emotional stress to his mother.

Always with the worry that he would hurt his mother, Carver has avoided many courses of action he might have otherwise pursued, some of which have haunted him throughout his youth and well into his young adulthood. In one particularly memorable case, Carver lied as to how he received a myriad of injuries when he was picked on by a group of older boys who did not appreciate a half-breed of Carver’s nature mixing with them. This, along with many other, smaller events culminated in Carver’s determination to live as helpful and happy a life as possible; no one or thing was going to stand in his way of making the world a better place.

Recently, Carver has found himself on the receiving end of a family friend's extensive and detailed lectures on the dangers of nature. Though he usually tunes out a fair bit of what the young konti woman says, Carver has managed to pick up quite a few tips, which he hopes to put to use as a Wilderness guide, primarily for those wishing to venture a short distance out of Syliras.

Of course, this goal does coincide with his dreams of moving far away from the cramped corridors of the city. Unfortunately, Carver's expertise is spotty at best and laughable at worst.

He has also recently adopted a young hunting dog which his mother came into ownership of.
