Elina Fenicha

Basic Information

Race: Human
Birthday and Age: Spring 3rd 494 AV, 20 years old
Gender: Female

Physical Description

Elinas stands at around five feet and six inches. For her rather small size, compared to other larger humans, one would easily notice her distinct and rather robust build. All over Elina's body the signs of a healthy and athletic woman is on display. Shoulders and arms larger than what one would more commonly see from a woman. Her attitude often shows a confident and rather likable personality that overshadows her more plain face. Elina is in no way an ugly woman, just simply not a glamorous face that would cause someone to turn there head multiple times to get a clear look. Light brown hair the color of a tree bark in autumn fills the top of her head. Often times ties in a pony tail to stop from getting in the woman's way while working over the hot flame of a forge. A noticeable scar runs down her right thigh, the scar then twists to run down the front of her leg before twisting around once more.

The clothes this woman wears often help represent such a sturdy body. Oftentimes colors such as Brown and dark red are seen on Elina, but other more vibrant colors are sometimes seen. Brown boots are her common footwear along with a matching color dress. For her upper body a dark red vest covered her chest, sometimes accompanied by a shirt underneath it going to her elbows or hands depending on the weather. Gloves are often seen over the womans hands when she works but rarely when she is not.

Character Concept

Elina is cursed with a adventurous personality and the need to explore. Nobody would describe her as rebellious or hot headed, just simply filled with the desire to know what is around every corner, stairway and hill. Confidence was littered all around her face and action, from anything as wanting to drink more than the men to running faster than dogs. Often times, Elina did not do as well as her confident look would have one believe. Elina is most at home with herself when she is standing over an anvil, hammering away at metal. A strong strong build shown from the constant adventures of working her craft. Some may find it odd seeing a woman doing such men's work, but Elina just laughs at it, never letting such comments bother her.

History

Born to a smith, who was born to a smith, that was also born to a smith it seemed only natural that Elina would take up her family's tradition of working at the forge to forge objects from steel or iron just as her father had done. Elina was born alongside a twin, her sister. However, as her twin had come first the family assumed everything was over and they could rest. A sudden shock of realizing there was a second child on the way threw everyone into a panic. By the time everything settled and the second baby delivered, Elina's mother was dead. Something had gone wrong during the delivery that caused the woman to lose her life. Her father had never expected such a thing to happen, not like this. Praying all night for the gods to bring her back, back to him. It did not work.

After two days he realized the children needed to be taken care of first, before he could deal with his wife. Elina was born strong and healthy, her sister on the other hand, was not. Abigail had gotten ill the next day and many of the healers were worried if she would live through the night. When morning came, the girl was dead. Elina's father was struck with grief both from the lose of his wife, but now his own daughter. His only daughter left was Elina, the one who had caused the death of her mother, the woman he loved. For days the man fought with himself over what to do with the child. It seemed almost unreasonable to think he could raise a child who had given him so much pain. Yet, it was his child. Certainly the gods would not approve of such an act. In the end, he decided he must take care of the girl. It was his blood after all.

From the moment Elina could walk and swing a hammer, she was working at her fathers force in Syrilas. As a young girl the kinds of projects she did was small. Fish hooks were a common practice, along with simply creating basic tools such as tongs to be sold or used. Elina's father was glad to see his child had a knack for such a thing. Over time Elina grew stronger than most of the other children around her area, being stronger she began to develop a feeling of adventure, always being the one to lead the children around her feeling of discovery grew. Of course, it was only to go find new places to play at. Oftentimes, her and the other children would talk of grand adventures they would have! Going on mighty quest with the knights, visiting the great city's that few have ever gone and adults only whisper about.

Slowly, these dreams stopped. As the years got by less and less of her friends came to the playing area. All the children, now teenagers. Had jobs they had to do, parents to please and little time was left to talk of adventure and quests. Elina was working harder at her fathers smithy, sharpening her craft. Every now and again, some of the friends would meet up to talk. Not about adventures, just about there life. How everyone was doing. Oftentimes these would turn into times by a fire with some food and a bit of drink. Many of them were seventeen or eighteen by now.

At nineteen Elina crafted her first real, sturdy sword. Her father made sure that it was the best piece his daughter had made yet. Eight times he made her redo the sword, starting from scratch.

"Your going to do, and your going to do it right lad. You cant be expected to make anything better if all your doing is making it worse!"

Elina couldn't stand working on this sword. Her father wouldn't stop her at the begging, or the middle. He would wait till she finished, look at the sword and then say what was wrong. First, the blade was unbalanced. Elina went back and redid it. This time, the blade was balanced fine yet the steel was made to thick. A man couldn't swing the sword the way its meant to. This went on for two months until finally her father didn't say anything. He simply told her what needed to be improved as she continued to work on blades but this sword would do its job just fine.

Elinas adventurous spirit came up again when a trade caravan was looking for able bodies to go with them to one of the other cities. Elina, begged her father to let her go, saying it would only be for a few seasons and she would come back. Not letting his only living relative leave on a dangerous adventure he told her no. Elina was to remain here and work at the smithy, much to his daughters dismay she eventually went up to her room above the smithy, slamming her door as she went up. A few hours later her door opened, with her father walking in. A rather large pouch was in his hand, he placed it on the bed as well as patting the side next to him. Elina did as ordered and sat down beside her father.

"That is, for the most part, all the money that your work has made. Its always been your gold, not mine. If you want to go on this trip, I wont stop you. But your going to be paying for it with your own coin. Not mine."

Elina didnt know what to say. Sadness, excitement and so many other emotions flowed through her body in this one moment. Before she knew what to do her father slipped a necklace on over her head. She had seen it before, in his room, resting on the top of a bedside table. He began to explain to her how it belonged to his wife, Elina's mother. When he finished she didn't know what to say, and he understood that. He left her alone and exited the room.

The next day Elina went around town, buying all manner of equipment she would need for her journey. A weapon to protect herself would most certainly be needed for such a journey. Her father had good arms, but Elina wanted something different, she couldn't see herself as the kind of girl to charge into battle swinging a sword. The girl wanted something to suit her, and her friend Kian had just the idea. Kian was an apprentice for one of the local weaponsmiths, when she arrived he already had a weapon ready for her. A long wooden spear with multiple curved edges at the end. He called the weapon, a snake spear. With the long wood it allowed the wielder to stay back, keeping an assailant at bay from range, the swirling edges allowed for easier piercing of skin while also allowing swiping attacks. Needless to say, Elina paid the money for the weapon.

After all her equipment was packed away Elina was ready for the caravan. Her name was already written on the sheet of paper. It wasn't until now she wondered, were are we even going? Part of her mind wanted to ask were they were heading, the other liked the surprise of guessing. The latter won out.

When the caravan arrived outside of lake Ravok Elina was taken back. This city was the complete opposite of everything she had seen before. It was breathtaking at just how beautiful the architecture and buildings were. Once they passed the trading post and came into the city she couldn't wait to look around! Of course, after insuring local residence at the Tarsin's Boarding house of course.
