Umbra of The Cutthroat Shadows Appearance Race: Myrian Gender: Female Age: 14 Birthday: 67th day of Spring, 500AV Birthplace: Deep within the Jungle Wilds Appearance: Although still young and considered an adolescent, this Myrian holds an deep beauty as aweing and intense as her fiercly proud devotion to her people and her Mother Goddess'. Long hair falls in beaded strands, black as the deepest twilight, just to her shoulders that were already showing toned muscle of intenst training. Her fair face, a deep bronzen tan and that of a girl that was sure to be a woman of immense beauty would almost appear soft if not for the dark brown eyes that held a ferocious glint casting her other features in a sort of eery shadow. Having never left the wilds, save for a couple trips to Taloba, she has never dawned any form of footwear and rarely wears more than lioncloth like rags covering her chest and hanging loosely below a tightly toned midrift down to equally muscular thighs. One easily distinguishable characteristic is a scar on her left side just below the ribs, 2 small dots that any Myrian could instantly recongnize as the bite of a snake, in this case a Dhani. As she rarely dawned so much as a cloak this was openly visable at almost all times. She stands at just 5'1" and although she knows she has room to grow, she sees this as an asset rather than a flaw, allowing her to be more agile as well as easier to move through the dark night unnoticed. Character Concept Young and full of burning Pride, fiery determination and unwavering devotion, Umbra devoutly looks toward Mother Myra and Akajia above the other deitys of her people. Recognizing both the blood of her people and that of her name she embraces the shadow just as much as the burning warlike thirst, only Myra herself coming before her love and devotion to the Goddess of Shadow. She holds a deep hatred of the lesser races and an even greater hatred toward the Dhani than even most Myrian. This has driven her to train vigirously and relentlessly, striving to become "a deadly whisper of death in the shadows." Character History Being born of the Cutthroat Shadows, Umbra has spent nearly her entire life in the Wilds. Losing both her parents at the ripe age of 7 during a Dhani ambush she was found by an elderly Myrian man. Beaten, bitten and near death he brought her to the mother of his house, who seeing a deep determination within her eyes at such a young age brought her in and sought out a private trainer to take her on as a pupil as soon as she recovered. After nearly 3 months the young girl awakened, recalling the events prior to her rescue she was panicked, lashing out and trying to run it took 3 adult Myrians to subdue her, one of which suffered a severely broken nose. After wrestling her to the floor still kicking, screaming and biting whatever she could reach they held her there preparing to knock her unconscious when a voice spoke from behind them. Umbra never has and never will forget the smooth yet raspy voice of the elderly Myrian woman that stood above her, she instantly ceased her struggle as she craned her neck to find the source. "Stay your hand, the child is to come with me." From that day on Umbra lived within a longhouse among one of the northern camps of the Cutthroat Shadows, under the guidance of her new mentor, Nara. Training day in and day out, learning to become one with the shadows as well as the weapons she uses to spill the blood of her foes. She learned to use her body as a weapon just as much as a blade, gaining proficiency in unarmed as well as small arms combat. When she was training for combat, she learned was told stories of her Goddess' Myri and Akajia, her race and land, her training not only brought her skill but brought her much closer with nature, oftentimes going a day or two without any interaction except that with the fauna and wildlife. On her 13th birthday, Nara took her Taloba, buying her the short katana like sword that sat at her hip with the promise of teaching her to duel wield. Before she was able to fulfill that promise Nara grew ill and after months of fighting she finally asked Umbra to end it. Unable to deny her mentors plea, she obliged. There were no goodbyes and no tears, just a simple nod and a clean jab through the heart with the very sword that was gifted to her. After 7 years under the watchful eye and stern hand of Nara she felt a sense of loneliness yet oddly a feeling of freedom, not yet an adult but with an attitude and drive to match some of the toughest amongst the Myrian. At a ripe 14 she stands tall and proud, ready to find her place within The Cutthroat Shadows.
