Concept
Fleet footed and quick witted, Elijah pursues an existence which matches his fast-paced life-style, living every moment to its absolute fullest. While this present-focused perspective provides Elijah with a truly unique outlook on life, this same perspective encourages him to trivialize people and events regardless of their actual importance.
A clever mind and an impish smile reveal Elijah's readiness to joke at someone's expense, especially his own. Humor is often his coping mechanism, and when faced with difficult or dangerous situations, an immature remark can readily be found at his lips. Childish at the surface, Elijah desperately hides his thorough experience with tragedy under layers and layers of comedy.
Elijah can be unfairly abrasive to those he knows are well off in life, as growing up during Lhavit's rigid, albeit brief, class divide has soured his experience with the wealthy. Unless proven otherwise, he views them as pampered, weak, and selfish individuals who need to be brought down a level.
On the subject of law, Elijah takes a slightly deviant standpoint on issues of a criminal nature. Coming from a less than lawful background, he understands that criminal activity can be the only means to survive in difficult circumstances. He doesn't argue that it's morally justified to break laws or steal for a living, but he knows what it's like to be in that situation and empathizes with it.

History
Born to a family of modest stature and character, Elijah's early years were ones marked by blissful peace. Life was easy, sustainable, and best of all, predictable. His father went to work, his mother stayed home, and he availed to grow as quickly as humanly possible. Simple. Happy. But, as the turn of the century approached, so too came the rapid class division and economic segregation which characterized Lhavit during the early years of 500 AV.
Elijah's family was hit hard by the class separation, suddenly finding themselves to be worth less than their peers. Life became tough for his family, his father's honest trade barely feeding three mouths. Needing someway to provide for his struggling family, Elijah found himself deep within a dishonest trade at an early age. Elijah spend the remainder of his childhood as a part of the more criminal element of Lhavit, finding success as a delivery-boy and burglar for fences, bookies, and others of unsavory professions. It was here, among Lhavit's very worst that Elijah found what he was best at.
When the Day of Discord came, it would be an understatement to say that Elijah's world was shattered. His parent's long since gone from the hardships of a impoverished Lhavit, Elijah stood alone among the wake of change that took place. He had grown up all his life among rigid class separation, being told he was worth next to dirt simply because he didn't have Kina's to burn. And then, poof. Everyone was equal, and opportunity was abound. Crime became a convenience instead of a necessity, and Elijah found himself in a brand new city. His trial-by-fire finally over, he decided that a new Lhavit meant a new, law-abiding, Elijah.
But as they say, "Old habits die hard."
