Ssiresstimonskarra Snake Breed : Name: Yellow Bellied Sea Snake General Description: A highly venomous and agile ambush hunter. Length: Average length of 1 meter, with longest recorded around 1.13 meters. Females tend to be longer than males. Weight: Average of about 3lbs. Coloring: They are black on top and have yellow bellies, with a paddle that is yellow with black spots. Fangs: Fairly short at 1.5mm in length. Disposition: Yellow Belly snakes are generally calm creatures, having very few natural predators and tending to be ambush hunters. Diet: Fish. Defenses: The yellow belly is extremely agile in the water, capable of swimming backwards with as much as it swims forward, and can move in bursts of speed measuring up to 1 meter per second. Venom: The venom of a Yellow Belly is lethal at 0.067 mg, and each bite on average delivers 1-4 mg. Containing chemicals serving as both neurotoxins and myotoxins, the venom of a yellow belly can simultaneously paralyze a victim and inflict severe necrosis on the muscles, making it remarkably effective for a quick kill. Race: Dhani, Saltwater Iyvess Gender: Male Age: 127 Birthday: 43 Winter, 386 AV Birthplace: Born in Charbosi Appearance: Gnosis| Skarra's Oceanus mark appears as three waves, arranged as you would see points in a triangle, each wave crashing towards the middle. It migrates often and as such it is difficult to pin down a general location where it appears. Snake Form| In his snake form, Skarra takes after the form of what we know as a yellow-bellied sea snake. The upper side of his body is a deep jet black, allowing him to hide with ease on the ocean floor as he awaits the approach of prey. His underbelly, in stark contrast is yellow, allowing him to blend in with the glinting rays of the sun when seen from below. His tail skinny's out into a large paddle, breaking the pattern of black vs yellow to become primarily yellow with black spots. Lengthwise, Skarra is about 18 feet long in this form, placing him firmly on the shorter end of the spectrum in the world of Iyvess, albeit allowing him to maintain greater agility and speed. His eyes in this and every form at a strikingly bright Amber color. Dhani Form| In Dhani form, Skarra shortens to around 16 feet in length, and gains a humanoid torso. The skin maintains the same general pattern- yellow marks his front side, from his palms, to torso, to just under his chin. Black dominates the rest of his body. His head protrudes out at the end of an elongated, still more-snake-than-humanoid neck. Human Form| In his Human form, Skarra is about 5' 6" tall, and has a fairly lithe build- not broad or large, but very lean and cut. His skin is slightly tanned, though obviously leans much more heavily on the pale end of that spectrum. His hair is short and black, and though there is slight stubble across his face there is no real facial hair growth of significance. His striking amber eyes are by far his most noticeable attribute in this form. Character Concept Skarra is an Iyvess not even halfway into his life, and is defined by a youthful itch to prove himself. Since reaching adulthood he has taken to the hunt like one would expect of any true Dhani, devoting himself to learning the secrets of the strike and the methods used to track prey. But even given his quick learning and dedication, he lacks the vast number of kills and stories of Great Hunts that the more veteran hunters have, and this irks him. He views every hunt as an opportunity for glory and advancement and takes every failure as a devastating blow. His ultimate goal is to become a Chief, and to that end he will do what he must, and will take every chance to prove his mettle, no matter how foolish or dangerous. Skarra would likely swim into the maw of a leviathan if he felt like there was a 1 in 1000 chance he could pull off a grand kill and receive the glory that would accompany it. His undying and relentless pursuit of these goals means he has neglected mating in any capacity, being an individual with a truly single track mind. In his thinking, mating will be a reward enjoyed when he has made it to the top, and not before then. The only thing that ever comes close to breaking his concentration on hunting and battle is his devotion to the gods of his people, Laviku in particular with Dira a very close second. Skarra counts himself among the many Iyvess who believe Siku has abandoned them, reasoning that if they were truly beloved by her they would have found blessing to live as the rest of her people have lived. The conflict with land-dwelling Dhani and the fact that they have never found peace or fulfillment anywhere but Laviku's domain lead him to conclude that Laviku has taken their care upon himself. Skarra's Thoughts on Other Races : Svefra| Skarra, being as devoted to hunting and battling as he is, relishes the opportunity to go toe-to-toe with the land dwelling curs who would dare to claim the name of Laviku as their own. His personal favorite way to 'deal' with these poseurs is to pull them into the water and let them truly familiarize themselves with the domain of the God they claim to love and follow. If he were ever to encounter a second-marked Oceanus Svefra, it could potentially shift the way he views the entire race, however. Charoda| Skarra doesn't have much interaction with the peaceful ocean dwellers anymore, but like most of his people he views them in a very favorable light for their service to the Iyvess children and their obvious status as beloved of Laviku. Iyvess| The view Skarra takes on his own people represents the ultimate convalescence of his desires for battle and the hunt and his faith in Laviku. He believes that the Iyvess are essentially the sword of Laviku, traveling the ocean depths to hunt down monstrosities through the Great Hunt, watch over Charbosi, and strike out against the Svefra who have the audacity to claim his name and blessing for themselves. Character History As is the case with all those of his kind, Skarra was born in Charbosi. He spent his childhood learning the ways and knowledge of his people- the stories of their creation, the way of the hunt, and how to change forms. It was later into his young adulthood- during his mid 90's- that a profound desire for glory in the hunt began to grip the very foundations of his soul. He saw the veterans and chiefs, he saw their scars and heard tales of Great Hunts, of clashes between Dens, of the thrill and glory of the hunt. The desire to be a part of that consumed and defined him, and the hold never really disappeared. Since that time he has reached true adulthood and joined a Den, as is the case with the majority of his people.
