Akaira Windrunner

Physical Information
Race: Human
Age: Seventeen
Birthday: Sixteenth of March, 497.
Birthplace: Ravok, Sylira.
Gender: Male

Appearance
Akaira Windrunner tries his best to put himself off as a ranger of the wild, despite the fact that it could be further from the case. Often dressing himself in woodsman clothing and cloaks, he carries himself like he thinks a ranger does, calm and unassuming, and yet watchful of most things. His facial expressions are rather varied however, as he isn’t able to control them easily, but they are framed with a rather sharp face.

He stands at about 5`7`` in height and is rather lithe in appearance with black hair that is often long and tied back into a ponytail, with emerald green eyes that seem to glow under certain lights. Akaira weighs in at about 175 lbs with a lithe build on him.

Character Concept
Personality:
Pre Creation: Akaira is an odd fellow, has been since he was little. Although one to see the good in things, he had also actively sought the bad, if for anything else than to know it was there. He seems to take everything in stride, and tries his best to act the part of a ranger from his stories; calm, collected and observant, even if he fails. In truth, although rather open minded and kind hearted, he has a strong temper which can easily be set aflame which also brings out his stubborn and slightly selfish traits as well. He doesn’t often like to get angry, and he knows what he is like while angry as well which gives him more of a reason to learn how to back down out of things and politely excuse himself elsewhere.

Ethics:
Pre Creation: Akaira believes first and foremost that humans aren’t perfect, and they make mistakes, and as such tries to keep a level impression on everyone, both himself and others. He also grew up on the belief that one should be polite and respectful, but not so much that those you were respectful to are starting to walk all over you- which is aimed at both gods and other things, there is a point where he may refuse a god because it had overstayed its welcome. At this time, he doesn’t believe too much in the reverence of gods, but it’s mostly because he’s never really paid any thought to it.

Likes:
Pre Creation: Although Akaira would say traveling, he would be hesitant to take in the sheer tediousness of the traveling as well- it would be better to say he likes the ‘idea’ of travel but not the ‘practice’. Another like of his is an obvious one, he loves stories; especially those about rangers of the wild. He tends to get distracted by listening to stories he hears around him, regardless if it’s just imaginative or not- he’ll always at least try and listen to things. And finally another thing he loves is learning new things- he enjoys learning things and has a firm belief that all knowledge has a need somewhere regardless of how stupid it might seem at first.

Dislikes:
Pre Creation: Akaira has numerous dislikes, some of which stem from simple ideas of things rather than actual experience. However, some things he’s experienced that he doesn’t like would be the boring parts of travel. He finds them long and tedious, and although he will try to say he likes travel in general, it will be an easy lie to read from him. Another thing is the sea, since he is indeed seasick. The only time he might be found on the coastline is if someone gave three damn good reasons why he shouldn’t just go around. Another one of his fears are spiders of any type, especially big ones. It isn’t so much as they are furry and weird looking to him, it’s rather the mandibles. There is just something there that makes him uneasy about it, especially when they are poised to strike.

Character History
Pre-Role Play: Akaira Windrunner was born in Ravok among its middle class, and was generally an indoors child from the very beginning. Born and raised on the stories his father wrote or spun, he was equally pleased from the occasional book his mother brought home from the markets. He was a fan of all stories, but the ones he found the most entertaining was that of adventurers and wilderness, of rangers and tales of intrigue. He was so entertained with these stories, that the rangers from the pages became his role models, and the people to come to when he felt lonely or saddened about something.

As he grew older, he still held on to the ideals of the rangers of the books he had read, often listening to the tales of visitors and travelers while out helping his mother in the marketplace, listening in for the tales of wilderness or heroes, to the point where he would become slightly disheartened to hear nothing but the rattling of what often went on in the market. And as time wore on, he felt himself continue to believe more and more of the tales he had heard, to the point where he had actually told his parents he had wanted to become a ranger- to which that had laughed at, bewildering the poor boy.
Still, he pressed on with the dream to become a ranger, to the point where it had finally worried his parents, who had started to believe he was serious about becoming a ranger and went on to dissuade him from his dream. It didn’t work, and actually caused some strain between the relationship of his parents to the point he had ran away from them. Looking for a way out of Ravok, he had stumbled upon word of a caravan heading to Nyka in the fall, and then to Syliras. Looking for a way in, he had bargained with a man by the name of Markus, who agreed to bring him as long as he could hold his own, and after giving him some basics had brought him along on the trip.

The first thing Akaira could say about travel was that it was long and tedious, to the point he almost understood why it wasn’t detailed in the books he’d read, because he doubted he’d read a book that had something that long and tedious in it. (Although there was many times that he found the land of Mizahar interesting and just generally fun to journey around.) The caravan itself was rather strategic in placement, with five wagons in all, there were several riders protecting it from the sides, as well as scouts who rode ahead to tell what was coming. Akaira was surprised to notice that everyone had their little niche in things and often did it fluidly and without too much confusion. For the first part of his journey, Akaira was told what to do it and how, and given basic directions where he would continue to do it for the remainder of the trip, which would be weeks of several, bland days countered by a few days that were chaotic at best, both by weather and occasional dire beast attacks.

The journey came to a slow when his caravan had finally reached Nyka, where there was a period of time of rest and recuperation; as well as a few other people who had readied themselves to leave as well, due to being in the middle of a fight between monks, Akaira was rather timid to be anywhere than at the caravan, working on something Markus wanted him to work on, only going anywhere in the city when Markus himself brought him along. Another week later and they were back on the journey again, slightly bigger this time around and yet still functioning like a group, in which many were thankful for. Soon, fall passed to winter, and finally on the brink of spring, they arrived at Syliras. In this time, Akaira had grown to call the caravan family, and was a little bit hesitant to say goodbye, he was given a gift from Markus, a cloak that was green in color, and although worn, was still very much intact.

Grateful for the gift, he continued to work with the caravan for a while, before they finally headed out themselves and left him to his own devices. New to the city, the first thing he did was ask around for information, about anything- jobs, places, and people to meet before he finally found him a place to help him survive, a stall that needed assistance running which paid him a few mizas for his work. It wasn’t as boring as he thought it was though- and although he stayed well away from the Knights he found there; (he’d heard some nasty stories about people who had raised their ire) he found solace in listening to stories that the people of the market had a tendency to tell. He made a friend in a man named Hagravan, a rather loud and boisterous man of the north who had come to seek something important to him and became disheartened when he saw that it wasn’t in Syliras who had met Akaira while he was still trying to gain some money for the trip back home.

He had told the man what he had wanted to be, and Hagravan was entertained by the idea, and it wasn’t uncommon for the man and Akaira to throw ideas back and forth, things about what they thought a ranger should know. They had both agreed on stealth and trickery, since it wasn’t uncommon for their ranger heroes to have to sneak into somewhere to do something, and Hagravan had told Akaira of a city where there was nothing but trickery, a town called Alvadas. Hopeful with the idea, Akaira had made it his mission to secure enough money for the passage through the Suvan Sea, and starting the first of May, had paid for most of his trip and was ready and eager to travel again.

It was when he first learned he was seasick as well. He did not like even the gentlest of rocks from the boat, and for the duration of the rest of his journey he was often leaning off of the side or trying his best not to think of the waves, or the fact that the boat moved when it moved across them. It was a long two months, and when he had finally reached the shore of Kalea he could tell you he would have kissed the ground around that time. From there, it was a three day trek to Alvadas to where he had just walked through the gates.
