The Wilderness of Cyphrus is an endless sea of tall grass that rolls just like the oceans themselves. Geysers kiss the sky with their steamy breath, and mysterious craters create microworlds all their own. But above all danger lives here in the tall grass in the form of fierce wild creatures; elegant serpents that swim through the land like whales through the ocean and fierce packs of glassbeaks that hunt in packs which are only kept at bay by fires. Traverse it carefully, with a guide if possible, for those that venture alone endanger themselves in countless ways.

Walking in the tall grass

Is a sunny 30 day of summer in the year 514 AV. The wind is blowing the tall grass and it's feel good on my bare feet. The sun bright heats my unveiled head. My hair strands are easily beaten by the wind. I walk slownly, often looking on the sky. One day i will touch it, i'am sure of that. I will be the champion. Suddently i stop and i fall on the grass, relaxing my muscles. I feel so good when my body is one with nature. I'am fixed on the sky.

Walking in the tall grass

Postby Natane Skytears on August 15th, 2014, 1:26 pm

Natane had headed out earlier than usual, leaving the safety of the moving city of Endrykas, to continue her rather pointless exploration of the Sea of Grass. She often took her training away from the city, where there was more space. This she thought wise as it was not uncommon for one, or more, of her arrows to miss the target and become a danger to those around her.

She felt the gentle rhythm of Niabi’s hooves against the dry ground, and listened to the breeze rustling the surrounding fields of golden grass. The young woman loved the open plains the most, preferring her solitude much more than the bustling tent city. She looked up in time to see a lone bird fly silently across the beautiful crystal blue sky.

As Natane turned her attention back to the earth she saw something up ahead, hidden in the tall grass. She stopped her strider, keeping ample distance between her and whatever may be lying in the fields. Stringing her bow and taking an arrow from her quiver Natane crept forward, choosing each step carefully so to keep her presence unknown. Although she was not sure what good her limited skills would be if in fact the creature she found was hostile.

But what she saw was quite the opposite of what she had been expecting.
A man, looking almost ten years her senior, was laying in the grass. His coal black hair had been tied in a messy ponytail, the man’s scarred skin was tattooed in the usual fashion so she could assume he was of Drykas heritage but she saw no strider accompanying him.

Natane, keeping her arrow set in place as a precaution, straightened to her full height and continued forward with more confidence. And concern, wondering why a person would be out here alone without any obvious means of protection.

“Excuse me?” the girl said in a clear voice, for once the timidness of her personality not showing through, “Are you alright?”

Drake is in harmony with the wonderfull nature. His eyes are fixed in the celestic sun. Often, he is rub his eyes. The grass smell is invaiding his nostrils, Erik comparing the grass smell with a sweet perfume.

He hears grass movements, but he don't pai attention. He is focused on relaxation. But, in short time, his solo time is distorbing by a female voice. That voice makes Erik to wake up in the elbows. "No, I'am not. You disturb my relaxion."

Walking in the tall grass

She was relieved to hear that the stranger was unharmed, but that did not mean he was going to be harmed laying in the Sea of Grass without any form of protection. The monsters that hunted these grass lands were deadly at best, let alone times of drought when food was scarce. But Natane decided against questioning the man’s actions as she had done similarly ridiculous things in her time.

Natane gave the stranger a brief look over. His chest was bare, having on only a pair of dusty pants, so she was able to see the full extent of the man’s tattoos, noting that they were in a similar position to her own windmarks. He was muscled, but not nearly as large as some of the other Drykas men she had seen, and his dark eyes seemed to stare right through her which sent a shiver running up the girl’s spine.

From the expression on his face she could assume he was annoyed at being disrupted, for this she felt she should apologise. Natane slipped the arrow back into its quiver and allowed herself to relax a little, not entirely as she could still not be sure whether this man was a threat or not.

“I am sorry for disturbing you” she said, the timidness of her character beginning to creep back into her voice, “But I was worried. It is not that common to come across people this far out”

Natane then went on to ask, “Do you have a camp nearby?”

He did not really pay attetion to the girl betside him. Drake dosen't even look at her. He was focused at the beautiful sky. The boy felt the shyness of her voice. Why I need a camp? I have one, but far away.... "Not exactly" he said with a thoughtful voice.

The man had his attention back on the sky. Natane glanced briefly in the direction of his gaze, though finding nothing of any real interest. His words had sparked her curiosity. Perhaps he was here under the same circumstances as she.

Something nudged her shoulder, she looked over to find that her strider, Niabi, had come over to see what was keeping her. Natane gave the mare a quick pat on the cheek before turning back to the stranger.

Speaking with those she was unfamiliar with was still a difficult task for her. But she knew that nothing would ever change if she refused to do anything about it. So, rather than letting her shyness get the better of her as it usually did, Natane took a step closer asking, “Are you travelling to Endrykas? Or do you… live out here?”

He is looking at the girl with attention, analyzing each part of her body. She has a beautyful eyes, a long straight hair. Drake raealize, the girl is more lower that him, he has about nineteen years. "Why are you put so much questions?" Says Drake with a cold voice.

Walking in the tall grass

Postby Natane Skytears on August 18th, 2014, 2:04 am

Natane felt her heart quicken and she swallowed anxiously when the man stood. He was considerably taller than she was and, with or without a weapon, he would surely win if the situation turned nasty. She found herself thinking of all possible forms of escape if it was called for. Obviously Niabi would be the fastest form of escape and Natane was certain she would be able to buy some time with an arrow turned dagger.

But she tried to calm herself, reminding herself that it had not come to such a thing yet. And looking frightened or weak would not work in her favor if she was going to stand her ground. So the young woman stood tall and answered the man in what she hoped was a confident voice, "It is strange to find people alone in the grasslands. I was wondering what you might be doing. This place is dangerous and only a fool would be out here by themselves with no purpose"

Though she supposed she too would be considered a fool for wandering alone through these plains and striking conversations with potentially dangerous individuals.

Natane would admit that she was shocked by the man's actions and sudden change in tone. Not having much experience with men she could not be sure whether this was some attempt at flattery, or less likely seduction, but she was pleased that he was no longer hostile.

She wanted to keep this relaxed feel; though could not allow herself to drop her guard too much, not just because this Drake had his hand on her, but also because she could not be certain of his motif.

Niabi seemed to sense her rider's anxiety, or maybe the mare simply did not like the stranger being so close to her. The strider's ears flicked back and she snorted a warning, eyeing the man cautiously. Natane was grateful for her strider's concern but there was little the horse could do to help. So she gave Niabi a reassuring pat on her dark flank and turned back to Drake.

"I'm Natane, of the Skytears Pavilion" she replied politely, making sure to keep any fear out of her voice, "Now that we are acquainted would you mind telling me what you are doing out here?"
