Gossip of the purest delights and the darkest tragedies bounce between shops and over bridges made of marvelous sky-glass, even house wives and politicians share in the splendor. Will you share the rumor of truth, or will you twist and distort this whispered odyssey? The choice is yours; you may do with it as you wish. Just remember, before your lips part with the tale, consequences of bliss or misfortune are just around the corner.

Hello my lovely Lhavathians! This rumor thread is brought to you by myself and Trickster. Before I let you have your fun there are a few rules that must be followed so that we can keep this thread well maintained. Please keep in mind that as your darling ST's sometimes we might pose a consequence or a treat for those who participate in the rumors. Whether you spoke the rumor or maybe it's even about you - only time will tell what lays beyond the whispers. 60th of Summer, 514 AV

“I heard that there was another break in…” The Shinya initiate spoke across the table, his words thought to be kept at a low whisper were instead magnified by the ale sitting before him. Excitement was clear in every word his spoke to his fellow initiates. They had all just gotten off their shifts and were enjoying a pitcher at The Scholar’s Demise. “I was told that he broke into Elysium Hall while guards were on duty! He didn’t steal nothin’ though; just made a right mess out of the place – it’s rather rude if you ask me.” The ale sloshed in his mug as he lifted it to his lips and took a deep sip of it while one of the others shook his head vigorously.

“No, that’s impossible. No one would let anyone near the Councilor while she was sleeping though I did hear that he wears a mask and goes by the name Incognito …” the second Shinya Initiate piped up eagerly, both clearly hoping to have their own personal encounters with the masked thief. “You think he’ll get bold enough to do something on our watch? I bet if I was on the night watch I’d be able to catch that little petcher.” The third Shinya rolled his eyes at the pair “You both are petchin’ idiots – you couldn’t catch an okomo if it ran right at you.” The annoyance was clear in his tone making him the more level headed of the trio. “Anyways it doesn’t matter they caught him the other night sneaking out of the window of someone’s house.”

The Shinya’s topics shifted slowly from there, going on about their ladies and their plans for the next few days but not before the stories were over heard by a man sitting at the bar. This juicy bit of information made him pay for his ale and slip from the stool to leave. He had to tell someone – even if Incognito was caught it was his duty to tell others. The citizens of Lhavit had a right to know what was happening, it wasn’t fair for the Shinya to keep this to themselves.


(By the morning of the 61st this rumor will begin spreading and can be heard in businesses whispered between shop owners and clients, between house wives and within several moons even kids can be seen playing "incognito" where one child plays the infamous thief and the others play the Shinya trying to catch him.)

31st of Summer, 514 AV

The laws were changing, at least that was the rumor running around the towers and spilling out onto the streets. Tonight the rumor was shared beneath the starry sky that was the endless ceiling of The Stars Shadow, two mages sat with their heads bent close together and their legs crossed neatly beneath them. They had purposefully chosen a seat far away from others as they spoke. “Alses changed the third law.” The female whispered, her eyes drifting across the night sky, the murmur of other quiet conversations wrapping around the darkness like a buzz of quiet insects.

“What do you mean she changed the third law?” The dark haired man turned a sharp gaze on the reimancer he was sharing a cocktail with; his lips could be seen frowning in the light of the moon. “You do not just change a law. The Seiza just let her change it?” Shock flashed through his voice and finally the woman looked at him, her expression creased in worry for the future of the city. “I don’t know, I heard it from one of Mercadier’s confidants. She changed the law.” Shaking her head the woman took a sip from her drink that glowed in the darkness of the night, one of the establishments house cocktails meant to resemble the skyglass of the city.

“Well what did she change it to?!” He didn’t like change, especially of something that he had thought was set in stone. Slender fingers wrapped around his as she comforted him, her hand squeezing gently. “I was told she changed it so that we will be limited in our powers, no one will be able to practice magic above a certain threshold without her permission.” The words were spat out like poison before a fearful silence fell between the pair as they contemplated their futures.


(Over the next few days the rumor will twist and distort between all who speak it, no version the will be the complete truth and none the same as the last. Excitement will course through the veins of some who see their tale of the rumor as an opportunity and fear will chill the veins of others who see it as a way to be condemned. On the 34th of Summer the Third Law will officially be changed and the truth will be revealed to the following:

There will be no unlawful use of magic. Failure to register as a Mage is a crime. Any expansion of magical skill must be reported promptly; failure to keep the records held at the Wizards’ Registry up to date is also a crime.
