Rezakal Character Sheet

Postby Rezakal on August 21st, 2014, 12:30 am

Rezakal

Appearance

Race: Akalak
Gender: Male
Age: 33
Birthday: 15, Spring, 481.
Birthplace: Riverfall

Appearance: The blue-skinned warrior is physically fit, and generally fits the stereotype of his race. However, two major differences are present on his face and his right arm. His face has been tattooed with a design that signifies that he is a Cerulean. The tattoo features red and blue symbols on the right half of his face, and a mirror inverted image of symbols on the left half. The two halves are connected by a blue, horseshoe like symbol on his forehead. His right arm also contains various markings that he placed on himself. The markings on his arm are fully black, but they are noticeable even on his dark blue skin.

Character Concept

Rezakal has been branded a Cerulean as the result of his dark brother's actions during the celebration of his right of trial. His light personality yearns to measure up to the proud reputation of the Akalak as the greatest warriors of the land. The dark personality on the other hand, is solely intent on reproducing in order to return the Akalak back to their former glory.

Character History

Light in the Day
Rezakal's highly anticipated right of trial had finally arrived. He and three other boys were required to kill a Glassbeak. They had trained for several years in order for this moment to arrive, and Rezakal knew that he wanted to be the one to fell the beast with the finishing strike. His ambition to become a highly reputable warrior was to be admired, but he had more skill in unarmed fighting than he did with a lakan. Since it was made of wood, that meant that it would be of no use during the trial. And this did nothing to dampen his spirit.

It didn't take long for them to encounter a Glassbeak. It was mating season, so the females were likely guarding the unhatched eggs while the males ventured off for food. Both the group and the bird had the same thought when they encountered one another. The warriors sought to prove their worth to the elders, whilst the bird planned to have an akalak dish for dinner.

Whether it was from Wysar or the result of another god or goddess, the group was obviously blessed. The Glassbeak was 8 feet tall, and it used its towering size to its advantage. Each time it struck with its beak, the group was forced to disperse. Afterwards they would regroup and the bird would attack them again, putting them in a predictable pattern.

With the ability to predict their enemies every move, this allowed the group to formulate a strategy. After the group dispersed from the bird's 5th strike, Rezakal returned to his foes legs and attacked it in the joints. Wanting to impress his fellow warriors, he commenced his assault empty-handed. The bird as expected, came toppling down. Since it was leveled, each member of the group relinquished their wooden lakan and began to pierce into the Glassbeak simultaneously. Because each of their strikes were synchronized, they had all participated in the kill; and they all had the honor of dealing the finishing blow.

The right of trial was completed. The day faded into night, and the only thing left was to celebrate!

Dark at Night
The journey back home was met with no difficulties after the kill. Since the group had pursued the male, the only Glassbeak of that pack that remained was the female. And she was too busy guarding the eggs to even become aware of what had occurred.

Rezakal returned home before the celebration. He reflected on how his mother had struggled in raising their family alone. His father had perished during a quest that he had no knowledge of. It seemed odd to him that everyone else knew about his fathers valiant quest but he didn't. They were quick to reassure him that he had died honorably and that one day he would follow in his footsteps. But what didn't make sense, was that his lakan was still at home. What kind of quest is too dangerous for one to bring their lakan?

As he admired his father's lakan, it happened. He felt himself tearing away from his body, and it began to move of its own accord. At first he was confused, but then everything made sense when he realized that his thoughts were not his own. His dark brother had finally emerged. While he admired his light self for aspiring to become a warrior, the dark brother knew that his priorities were in the wrong place. Being an akalak was more than just being able to harness weapons for a kill. They were more than simple barbarians. These were a strong and proud people who had been wronged and had their numbers all but decimated. Yet they still continued to thrive.

Determined to return to their former glory, the dark brother had only one goal. To repopulate the akalak back into their former glory. Once they had their numbers back, the skills would speak for themselves and they would be recognized as a force to be reckoned with.

With such contrasting aspects of how the akalak should be revived, the two brothers found themselves vying for control of the body. The internal struggle was quickly resolved, when the light brother had took control of the body. After all, he was the more dominant of the two. He grabbed his father's lakan, so that he could show it off at the celebration. But, feeling guilty and realizing the ramifications of suppressing his dark brother, he decided to allow him to attend the celebration in his stead.

The dark brother excitedly attended the celebration. Having the glory and praise of the attending felt wonderful to him. But what caught his eye was the presence of a konti woman. They were close in age, but her beauty was rivaled by no other. There seemed to be a mutual attraction between the two, though nothing was expected to come of it because of their young ages. But once they were alone in a room together, the dark brother ravaged the konti girl. All the while she was trying to explain to him that she was physically unable to bear children. The shocking revelation, sent him into a frenzy in which he beat the girl to death with his bare hands.

Word spread, and all the honor that the light brother had acquired that day, had died along with the girl. As a result, he became branded as a Cerulean and has resided in the takula outpost ever since.
