22nd day of Summer, 514 AV

Miro had an appointment today, one with a man who had been informed of the wizard's ability in Reimancy. That he could perform services for an hourly fee. What the man wanted, a statue of himself, much like the one he had witnessed in the Vitrax. It was one the Master Apprentice knew well. The statue of Ebonlord Gru'tral. It was a simple request, though it had to be performed at the man's residence.

This fellow, Rupin Valantus, a rather wealthy young fellow. He was an odd man, as often those from money seemed to be. Though the man tried to keep his strangeness buried, and this was what the Hypnotist used to keep him from speaking of the deal made. This indulgence was made into a guilty pleasure, a secret desire that he would tell no one.

It made for this to move smoothly. Miro met the man in a shady part of the Plaza, near the Foundation. A Ravosala was hailed and off they went to the Noble District. Just as the undead expected, it was a large and expensive house. Rupin led the way into the room that the Reimancer would work in. He explained how he ensured that nobody would bother him today.

The room they were in, it was a small locked room on the second floor. It was obviously a place where he went to be alone, an appropriate place for such a egotistical piece of art. While the creation of a statue was not entirely foreign territory, it was not familiar either. The process he would use seemed simple enough to devise, however to implement it may prove troublesome.

Miro gave a pensive glare as he looked over his model, this awkward excuse for a man. The first thing any noticed of him was that he looked to be withering away, and constantly hunched his back. Already a short man, it made him even less imposing. However he did seem to show some intellectual capacity, from what the wizard had gathered. Though it was heavily shadowed by his eccentricities.

The one thing that could not be decided for certain was whether the man's face was attractive or not. His long ragged hair hung at eye level, the brown locks that hid his gaze from that of strangers. His face always holding a nervous grimace, he was quite the awkward individual. However his features, they were not so unappealing.

It seemed to the Reimancer that all his client was missing was a bit of confidence. All he saw at the moment was an eager excitement held in the expression and body language of this awkward fellow. It was apparent they would start soon. There were only a few things he needed to know before he could begin his craft.

The method he would employ was simple. First he would produce his Res and shape it into a humanoid in a pose. With no detail, it would hold the general form of the statue. The next part would of course be applying detail, which was considerably more difficult. Though there was a curious idea that came to mind, perhaps a way to bring some ease to this task.

At any rate it was nigh time to start. The wizard began to clear his mind and breath in long deep breaths. He was tempted to shake his partner loose from his wrist, but wished to keep magical displays to a minimum. Chances were he would need Ender's assistance for this, but not yet. For now he only needed a clear and focused mind.

Miro spoke his needs in a firm voice to his client. "Rupin, I need to know what pose you wish the statue to be in. You do not need to describe it to me, instead assume it." The man stood awkwardly for a moment, but then gave a subtle nod. It was more than apparent he was waiting long for this day to come. It seemed as if the man had actually made an attempt to style his hair, though it was to no avail. As well he wore quite the unusual attire for such a small man.

Rupin wore clothes fit for a mercenary today. A set of leather armor topped by a long black duster that draped to the floor, complimented by a sword at his waist. The duster hung low on the small man's shoulders, a bit too big for him. He moved to assume a rather unexpected pose. He stood straight for once, with his stance open, head bowed down. He wrapped his arms behind his back and quickly began to lose his posture. The same awkward grimace still plastered upon his countenance.

This would not do at all. The pose, the stance, the look upon his face, it all had to be fixed. Miro knew just what was needed. He charged his voice with emotionally charged hypnotic Djed. His voice would usher in a strong sense of confidence. "Rupin, this will immortalize your image, impose your glory on all that see it. Show some pride." And though again it took a bit of time, the spell seemed to have some effect. The pose shifted.

Rupin stood with an open stance, his legs spread shoulder width. His posture corrected again, his back straight, taller than ever. The hands behind his back relaxed. He grasped one of his wrists with his other hand. There was a visible shift in the tone on the man's face as well. He had relaxed, and finally it was clear, he was definitely handsome. He lifted his head and his hair parted to reveal a steely gaze. It was perfect.

Miro grinned behind the Mask of Many. "Perfect! Now hold that pose." He now only had to replicate it. The Reimancer began to force his Djed to pump through his body and rise to the threshold of his skin. He forced it out as a thick gaseous Res that poured from his body as an aqua colored smoke. This cloud of fluid began to float forth and gather in a point before him and take form.

Gradually the gas moved into place and began to construct a solid form. First just a base, a block that the statue would be mounted on. From there he crafted the frame of a humanoid figure. All of it quite small and without much detail, but in the correct shape. To get the details of the pose correct, a walk around the client was taken, but after a few chimes it was finished.

The Reimancer transmuted the Res to a sturdy black stone. This immediately followed by a few moments to rest and clear the mind. He closed his eyes, drew a deep breath, held it for a time, then finally released it. He opened his eyes to see Rupin quite astounded by what he had just witnessed. "That was amazing. Though it looks nothing like me."

Such a rude remark only warranted a scoff and a harshly toned reply. "I am not done yet." He resisted the urge to further demean the man for the sake of progress. "And I told you to hold the pose!" He did not wish for the man to witness anything more than he had to. "Turn away and assume the pose. I will work better that way." Help was definitely needed.

Ender was exceptionally observant, and just as talented a wizard as Miro. He was an invaluable asset, especially in times like this. And that would be especially useful considering the technique the undead wished to employ. He shook his wrist and the Irylid assumed its natural form. The silver orb floated near to the statue, but did not speak. It only waited for an order.

Almost immediately an explanation was given via telepathy. "To better examine Rupin, I shall utilize Auristics, focus on his physical appearance. I will do so until I have memorized the details. You will use Reimancy to sculpt these details. I will also utilize Hypnotism, send you flashes of the details you need. This will compliment your scultping by observation. As I am sure you already know what the man looks like by now."

The Familiar was quite impressed and excited by this, and eager to start. He began to will his Djed to slowly flow from him as Res that poured from his icy surface as a white liquid. It gradually spread across the surface of the statue and coated it heavily. Slowly he began to work in some of the finer details of the clothes the man wore, and to shape some of the more intricate features of the body.

Meanwhile Miro began to expend his Djed to attune himself to Rupin's aura. He focused on all of his senses, centered them and his will upon his target. It was difficult to prepare one's mind for the task to come, but the Aurist was ready. He took deep breath after deep breath to maintain clarity of mind as he focused on the aura before him. Slowly it came into focus, though the details were a mess.

Rupin's aura, it was in a state of constant conflict. It danced and swayed in one way, then harshly snapped back in the other direction. The feel of it was raw, maddening, and yet so very concentrated. To try to move past these feelings that poured in was difficult, but slowly the wizard began to sort out the details of sensory data. But he did not only have sense of sight to deal with, but all senses.

While Miro worked to view and memorize the details of the model before him, Ender worked to shape the details he saw of the man. Neither were very far into their task, still long to go in the process. The Familiar had only the most general shapes of the clothes and humanoid details sorted. Enough that it was obviously a person, but could be anyone. The master was able to sense his target, but was struggling to take in seeing so much at once. They both pressed on in their respective tasks.

Rupin's aura was a complex thing. It showed a hint at how complex this man was. His moods, so unstable, they were distracting. It made the reading difficult. Though to have a person keep still, even if their aura wouldn't, made things simple. The image the Aurist worked to memorize was at least static. To see the entire body at once was harrowing, but he was sure he could do it if he focused long enough.

The mental strain heavily outweighed the strain on his Djed, so he was not worried of overgiving. Even with use of Reimancy and Hypnotism, he would not cross the threshold any time soon. His mind would become weary long before that. It certainly seemed the issue to worry about. To try to memorize something like this was no simple task.

The chimed slowly dragged by. Although progress was steadily made on the Aurist's part, it was at a rate that was easily outdone by the Familiar. Ender, after a manner of a dozen chimes, had finished his part. To the best of his ability, at least. There were fine details that required more intimate knowledge still to be formed. This part that his master was supposed to accomplish.

The Irylid waited patiently for a few chimes before he thought of saying anything. It took several more before he finally did work up the nerve to speak to his master while he focused on the difficult task. "Master, you are taking quite some time. I can examine the man without magic to complete this task, it is no problem."

The undead's focused was hazed by this interruption, but he kept calm despite it. He even managed to give a reply while holding the image in his mind's eye. "No, Ender, I can do this. Just give me some time. It may take a bell or two, but I'll have it perfectly in my mind. I just need to focus harder. Need to memorize it." Though that gave the Familiar an idea.

Ender gave another reply, this time with some useful advice. "Maybe you don't have to memorize it. Maybe you only need to memorize a piece at a time. Construct it flash by flash, and issue them to me. That way I will be able to work as you work." It was a perfect way of doing things, and the wizard nodded.

Miro began with the man's lower half. First his shoes, simple leather boots, they were a bit too big for the man. As was the leather armor he wore on his legs, but this was edited out mentally. The Chained One began to craft a mental image and focus on his hypnotic will and his connection to Ender. He glared with Djed filled eyes at his Familiar while he spent the rest of his attention on Rupin's aura.

A series of flashes were sent to Ender, an array if images that appeared in his mind like a painted picture. It was clear in his mind, able to be recalled like the most vivid of memories. The Irylid visualized it and shaped it into his Res with his will. It worked perfectly, the details crisp in his mind, they filled in the gaps of his knowledge. Meanwhile the Aurist had moved on.

Miro now focused on Rupin's upper half, the many details it held. The duster, sword, leather chest piece, the intricacies of his pose, all of it taken in. And, of course, edited tastefully to make a more proper image. Once again the images were impressed upon the Familiar as a series of flashes, and the Irylid shaped them as he received them.

Finally they came to the face, and the wizard crafted one final set of flashes. He imagined Rupin as if he were the Ebonlord himself, with the most fearsome of glares and an intimidating scowl. His hair actually styled properly, these images were sent to Ender. He began to shift the Res and put the finishing touches on the statue before the final transmutation to that same black stone. It was complete.

Ender returned to his master and shifted to his sealed form to become hidden once again. Surprisingly, Rupin had obeyed well, even held the pose the entire time. It was quite the impressive display of willpower. "Rupin, I am done, you may turn around." And so the man did, and when he saw the work of art, his face turned grim. There was no trace of that former awkwardness, but instead a stillness in his features.

The client walked forward and examined the statue up close. He paced about it a few times with his hand raised up to gently graze its surface. High and low, it was looked over, examined in every detail. This process went on for some time before finally the man turned back to Miro and spoke. "It is utterly perfect. I can not thank you enough, Miro. I shall tell everyone of the amazing things you can do."

But this caused a frown to surface on the undead's face. He did not wish for people to know of such things. And he did not wish to be here much longer, but instead to take his money and leave. "No, Rupin, please do not tell anyone what I did for you. Do not let anyone know what I do or where this came from. I only wish for you to pay me, so that I may depart." This job had taken a bit over a couple bells, but it felt like longer to the Chained One.

The client retrieved his coin purse and hesitated at the draw strings that bound it shut. "Oh, right, I won't. How much do I owe you for this?" As far as Miro could tell, he had been working for a few bells. "That will be thirty gold miza, please." A rather fair price for such a piece of art. Rupin nodded gracefully and counted out the sum and placed it in a smaller purse. It was then handed to the wizard.

Some brief farewells were said between the two men, and then they parted ways. Miro was shown to the door, then immediately sought out a Ravosala. He was eager to get back to the Foundation. With his luck he would have another appointment set for tomorrow, have to do this all over again. Worse yet would be if he had an interview. It was so hard to keep all of it sorted. For that he was glad to have Arienette. There was no telling what the future held, but for now he felt quite accomplished, if too exhausted.
