Physical Information

Lyall possesses bright red hair, the typical Inarta feature, and crystal blue eyes. However, they neither move nor see, due to an illness that occurred when she was very young. Nevertheless, she always looks clean and fresh, with a pink hue on creamy pale cheeks. As a remainder of her father’s Eypharian origin, her skin is subtly gilded in various places. Her figure is slender and petite; one could even call it skinny at occasions when she does not eat enough due to various circumstances. Usually, she is healthy and of average strength for a girl. Regarding clothing, she prefers light and simple designs and always wears white.

Although she does not remember how having sight was like, she usually moves fluidly. Breezes, noises and textures under her fingers can tell Lyall enough about her surroundings so she can move like any seeing individual would. Sometimes she hesitates or remains until she has gathered enough information about a new place, but she is fairly good at hiding those moments of adjustment.

Character Concept

Despite her handicap, Lyall is straightforward and honest first and foremost. The truth is valuable to her, but just as much are empathy and harmony. Her demeanor is gentle and careful. She perceives others through voices, sounds, smells and textures, and creates an image based on those experiences which might often be more authentic than appearance. Her strength is empathy – the feelings of another person are her feelings, she hears emotions in their voice and reacts accordingly. As a result, she has a natural affinity for helping others, cheering them up or making little presents. She is selfless and will often give without considering the consequences for herself. Sometimes, protecting the weak can also lead to trouble, though, which Lyall has experienced more than one time in the past.

Spirituality is an important part of her personality. Lyall believes in the hidden potential of Mizahar to achieve perfect balance. Although she knows that the world is not ideal – not yet, in her opinion –, she tries to fill her own surroundings with harmony. Naturally, she cannot always succeed. Because of her more introverted nature, she will then often turn towards her inner core and think about what she has done wrong or carry out a silent punishment for not being good or strong enough. Those are the times when she hardly ever eats while concern and sadness make her feel sick.

However, her frustration can also turn towards the outside world. When others do not see the point of trying, she can get very persistent and annoying. Why do others not realize what she sees clearly? Sometimes she wants others to adopt her own views, although in theory she knows that it is wrong to press people who have their own opinion.

History

Lyall’s childhood was spent in Wind Reach, with her mother first, then in communal living with other children. Of all Bendi tasks, she liked cooking best and developed some skill in it from touch, taste and instructions, despite the fact that she could not see the product. Her life was filled with quiet studies and friends until one day her mother, an Inarta like her, contacted her. She revealed that Lyall’s father was an Ethaefal and lived in Lhavit. Her mother had returned to Wind Reach to raise her daughter, but at age twelve, she believed it would be best for Lyall to move to Lhavit with her and get to know her father’s culture. Plus, the woman wanted to reunite with her beloved.

So Lyall and her mother went to start a new life in Lhavit, while the Ethaefal supported them as well as he could. Although the first season was chaotic and frightening, the girl adjusted to a different culture and society quickly. That was also when she first realized that the Inarta were different from other human tribes in more than one way.

Thrown into a new environment, Lyall took an interest in religion and magic and got specifically obsessed with the discipline of projection. The prospect of detaching the astral body from the physical one fascinated her and still does. Since then, magic has become an essential part of her existence, an eternal secret to be unveiled, and a means to prove that she is just as useful as any seeing person.

Her religious beliefs have developed into somewhat abstract concepts, but she values dreams and believes that they tell many things about the person who experiences them. Because of that, she has started respecting Nysel and thinks a talk with Him would be quite insightful.

Description: Lyall’s mother possesses a very gentle soul. She grew up learning the tailoring trade in Wind Reach and became a popular fashion designer when reaching adulthood. Although she loved her city and her people, she also loved exploring new cities and promoting her wares abroad. She was also notorious for various affairs with non-Inarta during her travels, until one day she met an Ethaefal in Lhavit … and decided to stay with him. As far as Laycia is concerned, love and fashion is everything she needs to be happy. First she wanted her daughter to receive basic education in Wind Reach, but after ten years of traveling back and forth between daughter and lover, she decided to move to Lhavit and take Lyall with her.

Description: Formerly an Eypharian, Lyall’s father is beautiful creature, of both body and mind. He worships Syna and has settled in Lhavit so he can be closer to the skies. In his Ethaefal form, he is a very spiritual being, worshiping the Goddess through dance, song and any other way possible. During the night, his Eypharian form adds the special touch of sensuality Laycia could never resist. He loves the airy Inarta, but refuses to bind her in any way, thinking that every individual should go their own way and find the way of living they like best.
