8th of Fall, 14 Morning The morning was a slow one for incoming traders, a common enemy to the ships; the mist that clung to the bay on cooler mornings had forced the ships down to a trickle, leaving ansty sailors on their vessels, forced to wait for the weather to change its mind before it would allow them safer passage into the harbour without running the terrible risk of breaking their hulls. Mist over the harbour, however, didn't bother its underwater denizens. Salumi had risen early, gathering up plants and kelp with a measure of irritation. Reedweaver had been injured the day before when the seahorse had almost beached chasing after a small crab and she'd been up all night building a small coral fence to keep him from running around the bay for a few days. It put her in an unpleasant mood, one she had no patience for. She swallowed a lump of fresh kelp and caught sight of a brilliant flowering coral patch. It was beautiful and wild. "Ah, this would look wonderful for a little hut." She murmured in Char. It was definitely a large flat of the stuff; perhaps soon to loose its pink hues, given the blue gemstone in the ocean around here that often darkened the other patches of coral she'd seen. 'Lumi drifted a little, touching a few bits and pieces as she got a feel for this neat little find. It was a bit close to the surface though, a deep enough boat would break and destroy it if they veered too much off-course. |
