The Festival of Illusions
Fall 1, 507 A.V.
A large, male constrictor slept soundly in his bed. The morning sun had yet to rise, and awake him from his long nights slumber. The Wolf's Cave was where he rested—he enjoyed the tavern—for he found some of the female inhabitants quite attractive. One never knew when love would appear, and Vaslalaryssaus stayed in The Wolf's Cave for that reason alone. He smiles in his sleep, with his hands outstretched in front of him. Vaslalaryssaus then curled his fingers, and straightens them slowly in a fashion reminiscent to groping. He was dreaming of something lewd; his gesture, grin, and chuckles made his fantasy very obvious.

Then a large creature climbs onto Vaslalaryssaus's bed as he slept; it folds the membrane-bound wings upon its back, and sprawls across the bottom of his bed. The creature positions its body in Vaslalaryssaus's immediate direction, facing him directly as though preparing to pounce. However, the creature patiently waits for the constrictor to awaken, instead. Vaslalaryssaus slept even as the door to his room slowly creaked open, and somehow remained oblivious to the two figures creeping into his room. The creature notices the creeping figures, nodding to them, it acknowledges their presence.

The two figures approach the sleeping Vaslalaryssaus; one walks to the left side of the bed, and the other stays on the right. When they were all in position, and ready—one of the shrouded figures shouts “ Balicani attack! ” and startles the large, sleep constrictor. Vaslalaryssaus sits up from his bed—notices the large Balicani sitting at the bottom of his bed—and yells, with flailing arms. “ Holy petching, Siku! ” Vaslalaryssaus yells as he comically falls from his bed, and hits the floor. The two shrouded figures laugh at the surprised constrictors fumbling, and pointing with their fingers, they made what pain Vaslalaryssaus felt worse.

Xen's fathers morphing model was a priceless, fright inducing tool!

I know thosse voicess, Ksssen and Ssalisssiss? Then that Balicani on my bed must be Jorisss! I'm going to kill you all! ” The room explodes with laughter, and ruckus as Vaslalaryssaus chases Xen, and his father, and mother through the room. One could only imagine how the other inhabitants felt after hearing so much ruckus before the morning began. Xen left The Wolf's Cave tavern, and began his journey through Alvadas.

The city was ever-changing, and had many unpredictable aspects to it.
So, the certainty that boredom would not be able to appear was exceedingly high within Xen. He walks the path in his human form, and avoids stepping on a group of playful squirrel kelvics that jump from the bushes and run past his feet. The pesky kelvics almost knocked him off balance! But Xen was happy to be up at the break of dawn, wearing what clothes his parents bought for him.

A Memory Of Alvadas [Cyna Redsun]

Cyna laid in her bed her parents asleep next to her. It had been a long journey her parents had taken her with them to the festival of illusions; it had taken her most cute begging face and some convincing before she was finally allowed to go. Her father being the one to cave first and she couldn’t contain her grin that whole day. It was a very important business trip for her parents they were heading to Alvadas to sell their wares in the hope of making a quick profit and a name for themselves.
The journey had almost made Cyna wish she hadn’t gone on the long journey, and with the caravan her parents had joined. They hardly ever stopped she had no time to play and everyone was always serious she could hear them now.

“Don’t touch that Cyna, it doesn’t belong to you”

“Don’t stray in the woods a wolf might get you”

“CYNA!!!”

It was Cyna don’t touch this don’t do that the whole trip and she was tired of it, She only got to play with the kids for maybe an hour at night before she had to go to bed. The adults and all the other kids got to stay up it was just unfair, but before long they had arrived at the city of Alvadas.

“Finally!!” She lout a loud sigh and fell back in the wagon.

“DAD!! Can I go to the festival now!!??”

“No, sweetie you have to help your mother and me set up the stand tomorrow tonight we go to the inn and rest we have a big day tomorrow”

Cyna just let out a low childish growl to show that she was no happy with his answer, and received a reply of laughter from her. She was awoken by her father it was still dark outside; she shot straight up and looked around.

“It’s time to set up the stand for the festival come on Cyna”

She must have fallen asleep she could have sworn she was reminiscing about the journey as she stared at the ceiling. It didn’t matter the festival was here and she was got to meet a lot of new people and maybe she could sneak away and take a look around while her parents were busy. Her parents grabbed their mule stocked with wares and headed for an empty booth. After a bell or two she had finished helping her parents set up the wares, and a few people had stopped by to take a gander at what they had to offer. This seemed like the perfect time to sneak away she thought to herself, but she had only taken a few step before she felt her father’s firm hand grasping the collar of her shirt pulling her back to him.

“And where do you think you’re going little girl?”

“Uhhh…to use the bathroom” She lied

“You just went now come here and hand me that glassware” he pointed causally behind him.

Cyna did as she was told and sulked in boredom for another few hours before she spied a few squirrels they danced around playfully and Cyna wanted to catch one. She wanted one to be her pet so carefully she snuck past her parents successfully this time and took off running into the crowd after the now fleeing animals. She turned one street then another then into some high brush and burst through some bushes to see the squirrels down around the feet of someone before taking off; by the time she noticed the person feet and looked up she had no time to stop running fool speed she slammed into the strangers leg knocking herself onto her butt.

“Sorry sir” she said instantly almost as if it was an instinct. She stood rubbing her rear with one hand while scratching her head with the other while she gave the person a friendly innocent smile.

The Festival of Illusions
Fall 1, 507 A.V.
Xen thought the prank he and his father devised was flawless; it was worthy of an award of some sort. But as he walks, thinking about the things he would do on this day, he figures the memory he created with his father was—undoubtedly—a grand prize. The placidity of Xen's thoughts were then disturbed by something that bumps into him; he wasn't paying attention before, and looks down to see a little girl had bumped into him. “Is she human?” Xen thought as he crouches down to view Cyna on an even level. The deep amethyst eyes Xen possessed met with Cyna's yellow-green, hazel eyes—she would grow up to be a beautiful young lady—that he knew.

Xen's gaze was harmless and of nonaggression; he was puzzled, trying to see if this young-one in front of him was a kelvic, or some other creature he had yet to discover. “Don't worry” he said with a gentle smile “I'm alright, but you have to be careful around here.” Xen continued; his mind still unsure whether the child in front of him was human or not. There were a lot of kelvic around the Wolf's Cave, and Zith occasionally flew by from time to time. But this was no place for humans; especially, those as young as this child was. Xen stood up, sensing that this person was not a dhani; she lacked the feel of a serpent.

Which made the young-one in front of the Wolf's Cave quite mysterious to Xen. Alvadas was filled with strange things, indeed. “Are you losst? Thiss area is not the place to be so,” Xen said as he looks around, trying to find the place Cyna had approached him from. He did not want to appear as though he had taken someone's child, or was a man plotting to do so—though that visage seemed highly unlikely—since he resembled a young-man within his mid-teens. And two youngsters conversing with one another, on a bright, beautiful morning; surrounded by lush vegetation, was a scene that could induce awww's of endearment.

However, Xen knew the best thing to do at the moment was to guide Cyna away from this place, and hope that she would lead him back to her parents. And by doing so, his consciousness could rest without fret. In all this worry and concern—one would not believe that Xen was a dhani—his characteristics betrayed his races reputation and genes.

A Memory Of Alvadas [Cyna Redsun]

The strange man had tried to soothe her and she was relatively calm, he seemed to be worried about her and she didn’t know why she was just chasing some squirrels around the town. Cyna knew the way back to her parents it wasn’t like she would get lost.

“Are you lost? This area is not the place to be so,”

Cyna watched the man look around before looking around her and that when she noticed she didn’t recognize a single street around her. Her mind flashed back to what her parents had said Cyna don’t run off this city changes I need you to stay close to me and your father. That when she knew she was lost, at first she felt a pang of fear in her chest then she realized she could explore the city freely now and no adult was going to tell her what to do. She figured she’d find her mom and dad soon so what was the rush she was going to have fun.

“Nope mister, just out playing” She lied to the man“Wanna play?” She asked him innocently holding her hand out for the man to grab her yellow-green hazel eyes gazing at the man with a look of conviction that said she trusted this man with her life. A bond only a child could make, given so freely and with all her heart. She tugged on his hand with both of hers and gave him a puppy dog face that said come on lets go. Cyna didn’t know this young man’s name, race or even his true nature all she knew if that she felt like she could trust this man and that’s what she planned on doing.

OOCSorry for the short reply, couldn't really come up with anymore useful content with out rambling, hope you enjoy and lets get this story going :P

The Festival of Illusions

Fall 1, 507 A.V.
Xen found Cyna quite strange; it was probably due to her breezy personality, and total trust in him. But he narrow his eyes at the young, human female in front of him, as though saying with his gaze“you'd better not be a morpher in disguise”. Xen had been tricked by his father, and by the city of illusions—Alvadas—on innumerable occasions. So, he wasn't particularly trustful of things around him; which made most of his senses quite sharp to the changes and certain abnormalities around him. However, Cyna was indeed real; her emotions sincere and her voice barring truth. This was truly a child lost amongst illusions, for no one could fake this level of innocence.

Xen sighs in resignation; Cyna had defeated his doubts, and he would not deny her hand.

Okay, we will play for awhile. However, we'll need to find your parents afterwards” Xen said calmly; his voice only carrying a minuscule amount of sternness. He was a total stranger—who agreed to play with someones lost child—Xen did a mental facepalm. If he added the fact that he was over one-hundred years old; it would only add to the level of weirdness—and depending on another persons perspectives—wrongness. He did not posses ill intentions, but this was probably the nightmare of most fathers and mothers. However, luckily for this young girls parents—Xen was going to be watching over her.

Let uss go into the city and ssee if we can find ssomething,” Xen said “Like your parents” he continued within the confines of his mind. He grasps Cyna's hand, and carefully does so, fearing that he might harm her with his claws. Xen then walks towards the streets of Alvadas he knew would be bustling with life later on. There seemed to be a kind of celebration today; one of which the inhabitants were impatiently waiting for. A few people were roaming the streets, but as he walks with Cyna, a few more individuals appear; visages seemingly human.

This little one doesn't seem to be concerned with her current position. If I was lost, finding my parents would be no problem. ” Xen thought. He would have found his parents by tracking down their scent; though, that instance never occurred with Xen—for his parents kept him close at all times. So, for Cyna to be able to escape her parents sight; they must have not been paying attention to her—that much Xen assumed. They were probably worried right now, looking for their daughter, he would bring Cyna to them.

A Memory Of Alvadas [Cyna Redsun]

Cyna was being looked up and down by this man almost as if he didn’t believe she was standing there, she couldn’t help but think he was a bit strange. She giggled when the man let out a sigh; it was kind of cute to her. She loved it when people gave in and she got her way, a sigh was always the start to many yeses she learned that from her parents. Cyna knew for sure she had her way when the man took her hand even though he had said they would only play for a little bit, before finding her parents. She knew how to stretch a little bit into a long bit of fun, if her parents said she had only a bell to play. She made sure it turned into 2 bells, and today she had a new toy to play with someone who had never encountered her mischievous childish ways. Cyna could keep the grin off her face, as she walked with the man down the streets. The only thing that bothered her was why his hand had such big fingernails or where they claws she didn’t know and she had to ask.

“Elder brother, why are your fingernails so big?” She asked him innocently giving him a cute curious look. Cyna couldn’t understand how someone’s nails got that big; it was a bit strange and unnatural. That curiosity was short lived as she noticed a toy stand with dolls that looked unnaturally human, almost like mini humans. Some magic or illusion had to be at play, but Cyna had no idea of such things yet and was entranced by the doll. She let go of the man’s before grabbing the doll. She held the doll in her hands holding it at a distance as she inspected it with amazement before hugging it tightly turning towards the man.

“Elder brother, may I have this doll?” she asked sweetly her tone almost had a pleading begging sound to it. If you didn’t know any better you would think the way she asked was as if she was begging for one life the sincerity, the want behind her voice for that doll was overwhelming. The plea was short lived as she noticed another stand with strange gadgets grabbing the man’s hand in the attempt to drag him to the next stand pointing insisting that he go to that stand.

“Let’s go there!! No there! Elder brother show me the town, come on”
Her childish curiosity let her mind run wild as she tried to innocently persuade this man to guide her around town. She didn’t know why she called him elder brother, Cyna just felt like he was and older sibling. She felt safe with the stranger whose name she didn’t know, and knew he would be there for her when she needed him. How this bond formed in her mind, no her heart she didn’t know. Later she might have mistaken this for love at first sight.

A Memory Of Alvadas [Cyna Redsun]

The Festival of Illusions
Fall 1, 507 A.V.
There was one word that Xen could use to described this child—hyperactive. She was all over the place, and energetic; having him wonder if she was a squirrel kelvic. Xen hadn't taken any money with him, though; he only took his daggers for the journey—which remained concealed in his clothing. He learned from his father and mother that the world wasn't particularly fond of his race. And that there were people with hatred in their hearts; who disliked dhani solely for the fact that they were different. Although, Xen and his folk were not particularly monstrous or violent—many remained intolerant of them.

It was for this reason that Xen was told to act as plain as possible. He had to learn how to mimic certain habits just as his father, mother and uncle did. This was they could be mistaken for a group of humans or kelvics during their travels. Xen also understood—from his fathers knowledge—that Alvadas was one of few places that were tolerant of dhani. The city of illusions had many inhuman inhabitants and tricks that could conceal a wayward serpent—which is why Xen's father raised him in such a place.

It'ss because I don't trim them,” Xen said as he walked with Cyna beside him “Ssometimess big nailss can help you climb-up treess,” he explained; unwilling to tell the young child that he uses his claws to gouge out the eyes of potential enemies. That would be too gruesome to tell and would ruin the child's day. “So busy; calm down, child!” Xen thought after watching Cyna for a minute. He couldn't imagine how people viewed them while they were walking together—did they look like siblings, or two kids spending time together?

We'll have to take our time, and be patient. There's plenty of time to see all that there iss in Alvadass, ” Xen was confident in the city of illusions capacity to entertain, and it would certainly keep his little companion busy—whose name he did not know.Though, he did not completely trust Cyna, she wholeheartedly trusted him despite them knowing each other for a few chimes.“My name iss Xen,” he believed this was enough—for the time being—to show that he also had a degree of trust in his companion. To tell a person your name meant that you held trust to Xen's understanding, but he believed his little companion would only see his action as a greeting.

Hello, youngsters! Are you both out for a stroll?” The elderly man captures Xen's immediate attention. He did not appear to be anyone suspicious; his white hair and beard nicely compliments his pale skin and long limbs. Alvadas had all sorts of beings, as mentioned before, it seemed Symenestra were also included.“Yess, we are,” Xen replied. When the old symenestra and Xen made direct eye contact, they came to an understanding that the other wasn't human—only an inhuman trying to pass as one. “Well, care for a game?” there was a strange glint in the old symenestra's pale red eyes that caught Xen's attention; mischief or folly? Xen could not discern what remained therein the old symenestra's gaze, but Cyna would surely say ¨yes¨. In front of the old man remained three clay squares—all had perfectly smooth corners—and were adorable, almost impractically so.

What iss your game?” Xen asked; his eyes squinting at the old man before him in suspicion.
No need to be so concerned; its a simple game and free!” The symenestra had Xen the moment he said ¨free¨, and he winks at Cyna still holding Xen's hand.
