Harkon must fulfill a slightly unusual request

This lazy agricultural settlement rests on the swampy shores of the Middle Suvan at the delta of The Kenash River. The River's slow moving bayou waters have bred a different sort of people - rugged, cultured, and somewhat violent. Sprawling plantations of tobacco and cotton grow on the outskirts of the swamp in the rich Cyphrus soils, while the city itself curls around the bayou and spawns decadence and sins of all sorts. Life is slower in Kenash, but the lack of pace is made up for in the excesses of food and flesh in a city where drinking, debauchery, gambling, slavery, and overbearing plantation families dominate the landscape.

Is That a Snake in Your Pocket? (Adrienna Lynint)

Harkon made his way toward Blacksugar as he did most days. He left his house in The Terraces just before the sixth bell, and was among the first to get out of the gates. He normally picked up some food on his way through town, typically an apple or chunk of bread from stand while en route, and today was no different. It took him about three bells to get from his home to Blacksugar manor. He'd done this route most days for the last seven years, and was standing patiently in front of the Morealis' Homestead, as he always did. Punctuality, consistency, dedication were all the things he brought to his job. One of the manor slaves exited the manor and made his way toward him, carrying a sack.

He stopped before Harkon, "Welcome back sir. One of the young misses would like to buy a rather... different birthday gift for her older brother. She wants to purchase a large snake, one that won't kill people. She needs it by tomorrow morning, and it needs to be a surprise. As such you need to get it to this property on time, and with as few people knowing as possible. There are enough golden mizas in this sack to cover the expense of the snake, as well as extra for any... difficulties you may run into. You also need to get receipts or proofs of purchase for all expenses."

He handed Harkon the hefty sack, then cast a judgmental gaze up and down Harkon, "You might also want to change into something more suitable to the people you work for. They'd be terribly embarrassed if an employee of theirs was handling their money in public looking like... that. Bathing wouldn't kill you either." The slave turned on his heel and left Harkon with that. Harkon sighed. He could never fully live the rich life, he preferred comfort over extravagance.

He made his way back to his home, not even beginning to calculate the logistics of all of this. He stashed the really large sum of money in his house, making sure to pick the best of the best hiding spots. He then made his way up to a secluded inlet near Shipwreck Beach where many of the Freeborn would bathe. He scrubbed down, shined up, and returned home, much less nervous to find the money where he'd hid it. He then began dressing into the apparel he'd purchased for formal events and the like that he needed to attend for his employers, for this season. Black silk undergarments followed by black satin trousers and a black leather belt with a buckle. He pulled on a white, mohair wool shirt, followed by a black and silver silk brocade vest and matching jacket. He pulled on his black leather boots, adorned his black silk top hat, and grabbed his walking stick. He had to admit, the fancier clothes were exceedingly comfortable, especially the undergarments. He slipped his battleaxe into his belt, for he felt it would help since he was carrying so much of someone else's money.

He left his house like a man who was lost, totally appearing out of place. The guards at the gate said nothing, and the guard gathering toll at the bridge between East Bank and Dry Island didn't even charge him. They all assumed he was rich and important. But it was all just a mask. He made his way to Sun Island, ensuring to keep a slower pace so as to not cause sweat. Everyone knew there was only one place to buy reptiles, and he soon found himself standing in front of it.

Silverbite's Prowlers

He opened the door and stepped inside, adjusting to the darker atmosphere. He stood with perfect posture just inside the doorway, once again, waiting to be greeted and addressed by a worker or proprietor of sorts.
