Appearance
When quickly glancing at Diara, first and foremost is her hair. It is an unruly amber mess of wavy curls that falls all the way to the end of her back. It mostly does whatever it wants unless Diara braids it or puts it up. If she decides to leave it down, it will consume her most of her face. Her face, as well as most of her body, is dotted in many freckles. Her skin is quite tanned from the summertime, but will grow Imagefairer as the seasons change into colder times. It also has various scars and marks from past events and injuries. Her two most prominent scars are on the underside of her forearms from reimancy initiation when she was a teen. The rest are usually hidden under clothing.

Looking closer, she has a heart-shaped face with rather soft features. Her jaw is thin, as well as her chin and nose. Straight teeth lie behind plump lips that are usually flushed with color. Her eyes are a light hazel green and always seem to have a rebellious sparkle in them.

She is rather thin, but is growing stronger each day she lives. While staying on the road and taking odd jobs, she finds her muscles getting more defined. Her endurance is growing as well. She's about 5'5, and weighs a healthy 120. She stands tall with certitude while she gains confidence in herself. It's easy to tell what she is feeling because her body language and facials are always a tell-all, whether she likes it or not.

Concept
Diara, despite her young age, has a clear image of what she wants her life to look like. Or, at least she thinks she does. She has a strong sense of self and sees her dreams come to fruition in her mind. She's optimistic and diligent, but that might be because she hasn't had much friction in her endeavors so far.

Diara strives to master all four elements then teach them to others in a positive and pure way. She has replaced her family members with the elemental Gods, hoping that they can fill the empty holes in her soul. Because of this, she is a deeply religious and spiritual girl, often meditating on decisions and sharing her emotions daily. She believes they guide her on a meaningful path to fulfillment. She goes to Makutsi for peace and healing, Zulrav for important decisions, Ivak for control over her emotions and creativity, and Semele for spiritual grounding to the earth.

When it comes to socializing with others, she is not shy. She's likes to speak her mind as she is opinionated in most things. She often goes against social norms to stand up in what she believes in, whether that is good or bad. But she does know her place and wouldn't speak against someone in authority, unless she felt extremely strong about the subject. Overall, she is friendly and can make acquaintances easily. Making friends is a different subject as she doesn't trust easily.

She has many issues due to her upbringing, the most prominent one being her mistrust towards most people. She finds trusting someone very difficult, and when she does start to accept someone, it is not without her doubts. She feels like she can never give herself fully to someone. They only people that she trusts are her Gods. She often prays about this, knowing that it is a disadvantage to human nature. She hopes that one day she can overcome it, but for now it is still a very big problem.

She believes is that if she gains control of all the elements, she will be in balance: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual balance. This is what drives her everyday. But, as she goes along in her reimancy development, she does not feel any different and her flaws still plague her. Soon she will figure out that full elemental understanding will not gain her control of her own life and that she will need more than just magic for that. Above all else, she is still only a young woman and is just trying to figure out where she belongs in this world.

History
Diara was born and raised in Zeltiva to a middle class family. Her mother was a stay-at-home seamstress, taking care of Diara and her two other siblings while her father taught magic at the university. Her childhood was rather carefree, other than rigorous school work that her father put her through so she could be the best in her class. He was obsessed with his children being at the top like he was while he was young. But other than that, her childhood was filled with lots of fun and laughs. Some of Diara's favorite memories where when her mother told her bewitching bedtime stories. They would stick with her her entire life and teach her more than she realized.

Her adolescence, however, was a different story.

Her father became suddenly engulfed in his work and hardly was around much. When he did come home, he was very withdrawn and looked physically weaker every day. He made life for those around him miserable with his attitude. Soon, he grew violent. Not physically violent - yet - but extremely emotionally violent. He was always yelling at one of his children to do better and his wife, really, for no reason. He had always been strict and a little different, but nothing like he was now.

One day when Diara was thirteen years old, her father called her into his office. He was waiting, looking as sick and emaciated as ever with a knife in his hand and a cold look on his face. He told her to kneel down and place her arms out, palms up. She did as he wished in fear he would become violent. She had a inkling of what was happening, but didn't want to believe it.

It happened so quickly. He grabbed her forearms and cut one long incision on each arm. Then he made the alien gas start invading every inch inside of her body for several minutes. He left her in a breathless heap on the floor, scared and disoriented. Somehow the cuts on her arms had healed, but left a nasty scar. She had just been initiated into reimancy at the young age of thirteen.

Her father trained her first in water reimancy. She caught on quite quickly and learned all she could. He told her to keep everything they did a secret, even from the rest of her family. Again, Diara did what she was told. This went on for many years. Eventually, he initiated her younger brother as well, forcing them to duel against each other. Even when things got out of hand and one of them got hurt, they'd have to keep going. Most of the time it was her little brother who was getting injured, but if she refused to fight him, she'd get severely punished.

The worst thing about this situation was she had to keep it a secret. She couldn't even confide in her mother, although she had a small inclination of what was going on. Mom started further investigating why her children were all the sudden acting different. She questioned Diara and her brother multiple times, and one day Diara couldn't handle it anymore and fessed up. Her mother wasn't brash and didn't confront her husband yet. She quietly snooped around for many months, knowing there was more to the story than just what the kids knew. What she uncovered was a mess they were all in over their heads for.

It was no secret Diara's father was obsessed with being the best, and that he pushed his kids extremely far, but they didn't know the lengths he was willing to go to. Her mother tipped off one of the auristics teachers at the university to see if he could find out what was going on. It was her last hope to anyone believing that there was something seriously wrong with her husband. Thankfully, he was caught practicing Leeching, and a series of other dark magics to become more powerful. He wasn't caught much sooner because he used glyphs to suck up any remnants of his dark magic, as well as made alters to his aura. He is now locked away in prison for a large majority of his life.

When this happened, Diara was eighteen. As soon as word got out, her mother knew that they could not stay any longer in Zeltiva. She refused to be the center of the town's gossip and branded as the wife of a evil wizard. She gathered what was left of their belongings and headed for the docks with her children in search of another home.

Diara, still numb and hurt from years of abuse was reluctant to go with her mother. She wanted to find her own way in this life and knew there was something more for her than just running from her past. So she decided to board another boat, to Alvadas, while her mother and her brothers sailed to Sylira. It was the hardest decision of her life thus far, and didn't come without doubts.

While in Alvadas she connected with her Gods: Matsuki, Zulrav, Ivak, and Semele. They gave her the comfort and belonging that she no longer had without and family and community. She also sought out a teacher to help her learn more reimancy. He taught her earth, in addition to more water techniques. Most importantly, he taught her how to connect spiritually with herself and her Gods so she could heal. After two years of living in Alvadas and mastering water and earth, she decided to move along again in her journey to Lhavit. She's heard that it is the hub for magic and where she could possibly find another reimancy teacher. She hopes to learn all she can from the city and ultimately, move on again to who-knows-where.
