Seran dashed out of the Lord of The Council's office and careened down towards West Street. He tucked the chewed quill into his trousers and sprinted through the street. He panted, ducking and dodging around passersby in the hot noon sun. Ms. Kendrick... He repeated the name in his mind, and his eyes widened in anticipation at the rapidly approaching docks. Just as quickly as he had dashed down the street he stopped, nearly falling flat on his face. He recalled having been warned not to return to the docks unless he was there for business. This made him hesitate. Would they accept his return so soon after his blunder? Of course, he didn't NEED to go to the shipyard. He guessed that Ms. Kendrick would be at The Sailor's Guild. Besides, if he became a sailor, he'd have his very own ship to sail maybe even Flyleaf herself! That thought jolted him to action and he sprinted to the docks.
...
Seran stood amid a crowd of people all moving about doing their business. He saw men and women alike loading crates into huge ships he couldn't dream of captaining. There were also more humble folk, fisherman and ferrymen readying their vessels for transport. He idled about, unsure of where to go or what to do next. While Tranaris had told him who to find, he'd not said where. He was tempted to stop somebody and ask them but, last time he'd bothered a worker or twelve, it had ended poorly. And so, he stood there, hoping that some answer might reveal itself.
