Alen Havar's Character Sheet

Postby Alen Havar on November 25th, 2014, 8:03 pm

Alen Havar

Appearance

Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Birthday: 51st, Summer, 497 AV.
Birthplace: Syliras

Appearance:

Alen's hair hangs loosely and unshapely from his head, having not been brushed for a long time, and rarely washed with even water, it's not the most appealing hair in Zeltiva. The colour of the hair is dark brown and, in this way, it holds strong resemblance to the bark of the Maple Tree during Summer. Below his fringe are sited his two blue and beady eyes, they're his most distinguishing feature, and add innocence and curiosity to his demeanor. Though Alen isn't a fighter, the area around these eyes is torn and scratched from the gritty nature of the walls and floor of Zeltiva, upon which Alen finds him self so often colliding with. His eyes sit roughly on his cheekbones, which are difficult to detect, as they're so inconspicuous.

Alen's lips are in no better condition - they're cracked and torn in the best of places, and worse in the places less best. The shape of his lips isn't something unattractive, though everything about their texture is something comment worthy. Continuing down, let's describe his chin. Alen has a rounded chin and nothing in the way of a mature or remotely distinctive jawline. It's definitely true to speak of Alen as youthful, even holding an unnatural youngness; this is all to do with Alen simply not maturing as quickly as other boys his age.

Standing at 5'1", the boy's not exactly fierce. His height suits well his profession, though he often wishes for a few more inches, as to at least make less of a negative impression. Nonetheless, Alen puts up with his height, to the point of even utilising it when possible. His back has a dominant arch - that comes from his time spent skulking - though nothing severe enough for him to be related to a hunchback. His body has no tattoos, notable scars or any other information worth translating into words.

Character Concept

Although Alen thinks deeply and philosophically about the world he lives in, he can't quite bring his thoughts into anything that anyone would be changed by, so Alen can not be called a philosopher. He lives by a simple set of his own rules. The rules he lives by weren't created to be followed, they were created as an observation for what he found generally happened. Alen's basic concepts are a system of Karma, you're treated nicely if you treat nicely, and the opposite if otherwise - Alen also believes that everyone is different and both a help and hindrance. Although these are Alen's rules, he does not speak of them in those words, and in fact, he's not very good with words at all. Alen isn't intellectual or knowledgeable, he is however, smart and constructive. Alen lives in the present - he does not regret nor does he hope, he only enjoys, and what he enjoys is living.

As for what Alen actually does, he's one of the many larcenists of Mizahar. Stealing is a popular (also somewhat questionable in moral practice and dangerous for anyone, anywhere), method of procuring money and food, and it's Alen's trade. This would be true if Alen were any greatness in the larceny trade. Unfortunately (for Alen, I suppose it's a good fortune for everybody else in the world), he's relatively new to being a fingersmith and in a town like Zeltiva it is dangerous to do what he does.

Character History

Currently in Zeltiva, Alen was born in Syliras. Coming from a poor family, his father (the breadwinner), died of simple disease. Before his mother could starve herself to support the family, Alen decided to leave so that she could live a comfortable life. The young boy stowed away on a trade route that brought him to Zeltiva, and made enough friends and earnings to settle into a small, standard apartment. Day in and day out, Alen stole what he could from the streets of Zeltiva, being careful in what he took, and entirely mindful of the things he could and couldn't take.

It wasn't long before Alen had saved enough to buy himself a new life - he had clothes for himself and food everyday - and he could finally live as an adult. Now, among stealing (as he's starting to become good at it), young Mr. Havar can socialise and attend the larger events of the city, as well as think about a devotion to a God or an ambition in life.

Alen Havar's Character Sheet

Hello Alen,

I am Perplexity the Domain Storyteller of Zeltiva. Upon reviewing your characters sheet I have found a few discrepancies that need to be addressed before you can continue to role-play on the forums.

History
So, I’m going to offer as insightful of a critique as possible here. Firstly, you are shooting way above what any starting character can possibly achieve. Pockets were always emptied in Alen’s wake? Carts were left bare? Shopkeepers floundered? Hardly. Your character isn’t anywhere near established enough to pull these sorts of things off. More like in Ravok that he would get himself brushed aside as merchants began complaining about his troublemaking to the Ebonstryfe or the Black Sun.

As nothing more than a boy the likelihood of Alen experiencing any modicum of success in the canals of Ravok (because it’s a city on a lake and there are no streets) is slim. I can’t be entirely certain but you may want to communicate with Nemesis the Domain Storyteller of Ravok before you start touting that your character was nigh unstoppable in their thievery during childhood.

Also something that you’ll need cleared, there is a very, very, very slim possibility that Alen and his brother would have encountered a wizard outside of the control of the Black Sun or Ebonstryfe. Again, you need to communicate to Nemesis the parameters of this arrangement with this supposed wizard. Magic is very tightly controlled in Ravok and any mages operating outside of the control of the organizations there are heavily scrutinized it not outright forced into the servitude of these institutions.

Also, you are grossly misinterpreting what anyone with abilities in Morphing is capable of. Please read the lore over once more and once you have made the appropriate arrangements that legitimize the learning of your magic, structure your understanding of it in your story accordingly.

Possessions
You may want to review the pricing of some of the items you have purchased. There are a few that are off when adapted with the appropriate modifiers. Also, you cannot have a book detailing Morphing. I am afraid you will have to make arrangements in-game with a Storyteller to acquire such an item as it must be added to a Storyteller Secrets thread. Magic books are exceptionally rare and acquiring them is not easy. Wizards are stingy with their knowledge.
