61st, Winter 514 AV
Along the north west side of the Blood hills sat the second mudpools. An area of disgusting nastiness that was on their land and a place that they checked every now and again. Derain especially had an interest in the area for the creatures that were rumored to be there. Decked in his leather armor, his crossbow in his hands and his bag thrown over his back. Derain had determined that he wanted to travel to the mudpools today and jot down any notes on anything he saw. Hunting and crushing experiments was fun and all, but there was still the curious kid that had come to the island in the first place. A land filled with hidden knowledge and secrets that the young Warden initiate was interested in. So his boots hit the dirt, kicking it up as his eyes scanned the horizons. Seeing the bubbling mess before him Derain paused.
Going to close could mean that he could be in danger of getting attacked by something below the bubbling mud. He looked around and couldn't find the other Warden Initates anywhere. They must have been at a different pool then, with a shrug he walked over to a dry place and sat down. An opening was visible inside of the pool a place that secrets could be hidden maybe even something of worth. But going in blind would only prove dangerous and stupid. He opened up his bag and retrieved the blank book, the ink and his quill. He watched the mud as it bubbled up and then exploded splatting into itself.
In a way it was very disgusting and normally wouldn't be something Derain stared at for to long, it seemed to be a normal pit of mud with a hole inside of it. But nothing was normal on this island. Everything had a secret to find, including the people, and the animals would be no different. A moving in the mud caused Derain's eyes to dart in the direction of the disturbance. The mud was being dragged in the pool on top of something. A scaly hide broke the surface and then sank back down in a matter of ticks. "So there is indeed something alive in the pools." A smile spread across his face as he opened up his book. Uncorking the ink he dipped his quill and start scribbling down random notes of the few ticks of the scaled hide that he had seen. His eyes trailed on the mud watching it bubble.
The creature pulled itself out of the mud and into the cave's entrance. An eyebrow raised as he looked upon it. It was long and lined with muscle and scaled hide. His quill moved quickly as he jotted down more and more notes about it. Semele's essence running off of its back as it looked down into the cave. His eyes ran along the length of the beasts body. "About fifteen to twenty feet? Maybe, it's hard to tell from here" he said speaking mostly to himself.
