Race: Konti
Gender: Female
Age: 30
Birthday: 1st of Fall, 484
Birthplace: Unknown
Profession: Auristic

Appearance

Image Joliece is a konti and like most konti, you can tell she is not human. She has glimmering scales covering most of her forehead, cheeks, neck, arms and legs. These scales seem to have a certain sheen to them, one that changes a few pastel colors from time to time. If you look beyond her scales you will see that she has skin, very pale skin. Her fingers, small and delicate, are webbed as are her feet. Although she is well over twenty, Joliece can be mistaken for a young teenage girl. She is a little on the shorter side, only standing 5'3" and weighing about 100-115 pounds. She has a thin and delicate body, touching her almost feels like touching something glassy. Naturally, her pale blonde almost pearl white hair falls down to her back in beach curls, it is also soft to the touch and very thick. Joliece has big gorgeous eyes with long and pale blonde eyelashes. These eyes are teal color with flecks of violet. Joliece's nose is narrow-shaped. Her thick lips are a pale pink color.

Joliece

Postby Joliece on January 9th, 2015, 10:23 pm

Character Concept

The first thing you should know about Joliece is that she is is a people person. She loves interacting with others, trying to understand them. She loves to talk and if you allow her, Joliece will talk until your ears bleed. No, she does not ramble on and on about nothing but using her djed, she will read your aura, trying to find subjects relating to it. At first when she becomes very talkative, people tend to think that she is very arrogant, wanting to hear her own voice. But she is the complete opposite. Joliece thinks less of herself when she interact with others. When she interacts with others, they're in her best interest.

You will noticed that Joliece, even as she talks, has a calm look to her. Well, that is because she is calm, kind of relaxed. She always likes to show people the best side of her and her best side is when she is calm and collective. Which strikes most people as odd because calm always seems to be associated with quiet behavior. Another thing about Joliece is that she is very loving and shows a lot of affection right away. When she adopted her sons, she was quick to call them her own. Showing affection seems to be the best thing about her as it tends to comfort others around her and she likes that. Joliece is a very comforting person and she likes when others feel comfortable around her.

Becoming a mother has awaken traits she did not even know she had. Like being aggressive to those who hurt or try to harm her love ones. Even as a konti, she finds it easier to attack and hurt those who physically or emotionally attack those she cares most about. Wih that being said, most of her aggressive behavior is shown when something is wrong with her own kids. This awakens a different side.

Beliefs

Avalis
ImageAvalis is the Goddess of Visions and Divination. Her sister, Rak'keli the Goddess of Healing, and she live upon Konti Isle for most of the year along with her mate Laviku, the Sea God. Avalis is the mother of the Konti women and tends to mark each of one of them at birth with a gift. Though Avalis is less powerful than her sister, her visions touch every aspect of the living, opening up pathways to possibilities and revealing truths that can otherwise be obscured. It is said that Avalis was once the queen of Laviku's Otani, and that he froze her in her current form and brought her forth from the sea so he could more truly love her.

Avalis is generous with her gifts, though rarely does she grant her gnosis marks to non-Konti individuals. Once marked, Avalis' followers enjoy a distant relationship with her, rarely having face to face contact until their third or fourth mark.

Avalis is the one that blessed her with Divination and allowed her to see what people find humorous.

Relationship: Joliece respects Avalis and looks at her as "mother of all konti." She did not start worshipping the goddess until she arrived in Mura. She sees Avalis as the supreme goddess of her life.

Cheva
ImageCheva is considered the Goddess of Love, passion, vows and marriage. Probably one of the most famous Goddesses throughout Mizahar, she's the one that is responsible for everyone knowing when a couple makes a vow to be true to only each other and join together to become one. Her famous Cheva Marks are a sign of marriage universally throughout all cultures and all races. She is equally responsible for the Lacun mark as well - the shadowy remains of an old Cheva mark over ones heart when a spouse has died or been divorced. Because of this fact, Cheva is famous and highly thought of throughout Mizahar. She is open to all sorts of relationships as well, approving of more than pairs but of trios and quartets as seen in the Drykas Culture. She does not consider gender important nor does she consider age into the equation. However, Cheva marks will not appear on someone who is unwilling or coerced. Love and true devotion must be present for the marks to manifest.

Now Cheva herself is a very personable approachable Goddess. She seems to manage to get to a great deal of weddings to mark the individuals. In fact, she must be present for marks to happen. Seen or unseen, it is simply her choice. In terms of appearance, Cheva resembles a very simple beauty with long brown hair and a soft warm smile. She often manifests to those suffering pain in the name of love and will converse with them giving comfort where and when she is able. Although she has a somewhat busy life for a Goddess, Cheva considers herself a servant of the people on par with Rak'keli or Sylir. She considers Rhaus her companion and when they both attend marriage ceremonies, often dragging Sivah along, the level of sophistication and importance increases dramatically.

Cheva's gnosis allows the mark bearer to see the connections between various people that are infused with love. These connections could be between parents and children, friends, lovers, even acquaintances. Cheva's influence, when a mark is tapped and in use, reveals an entirely unseen world to the people who bear her marks and gives them greater understanding on interpersonal relationships throughout the world.

Relationship: Although she bears a lukan mark now, Joliece believes Cheva is the reason Luise fell in love with her despite it being against his culture. Her relationship with this goddess fell apart when Luise died and Joliece's faith in love seems to be fading.

Konti Gift

Joliece is able to tell what an individual finds humorous. She will also be able to tell why they find a certain joke or action funny. No matter how unfunny the joke or action may be Joliece will also find it funny. This konti is not able to control when the gift comes to her, sometimes it will come with eye contact or skin-to-skin contact.

Character History

A baby barely a season old appearing on the front step of The Welcome Home orphanage was nothing new. So the arrival of a little konti in a woven basket with a letter attached did not shock the caretaker of the orphanage. The caretaker took her in and read the letter;
letter :
To whom ever owns the orphanage,

Please take care of this young child. Sorrowfully, I cannot. I am too young and too inexperienced to raise a child. Not to mention, the sight of the child will only remind me of my wrong doings and failure. I cannot bare to be reminded of that either.

While I may be unfit to raise her, I would still like to give her a name, one that will always connect her to her heritage.

This konti's name will be Joliece. It is a mixture of my mother's name and my grandmother's. It's a name that is very easy to pronounce in common, sounds equally beautiful to the way it is pronounced in Kontinese too.

Take great care of her...

~

The caretaker did as the mother wished, calling the girl Joliece and raising her like every other orphan. As an infant, Joliece was being nurtured by the caretakers, they taught her how to walk and talk (common). The caretakers carefully watched her until she reached a certain age. That's when they decided that Joliece was capable of doing most things on her own. As a child, Joliece was able to do too much on her own and caught on to things a lot faster then the other children. She learned that she was different then the human kids. Joliece realized she grew at a slower pace then the others and her skin was decorated with scales that had a colorful sheen. As a result of being different then the human race kids, Joliece felt that she had to be outspoken and did so at the very wrong times. When she began learning with the other kids, Joliece would speak her mind to the caretaker, telling her how she felt about the lesson and how she was teaching it. When this would happen, Joliece would be in very much trouble, which attracted the other kids.

Joliece's experience in the orphanage was not a bad one. In fact, it is one she will remember for the rest of her life.

Despite being an orphan, Joliece felt as if she had a lot of brothers and sisters who loved her. She was very good at making friends, scoping the kids she knew would be more to her then an acquaintance. Joliece surrounded herself with children who made her happy and made her forget about being abandoned as an infant. She enjoyed playing a lot of games with these kids and in spite of how she looked, none of the children really teased her. The orphans never made Joliece feel like she did not belong there. She began to think of the place as her home.

She was only in the orphanage for ten years of her life before being adopted by an older konti named Ty'kika. Ty'kika was a konti with no real purpose in her life. The konti woman did a lot of wandering, only focusing on her magic and her connection with the goddess, Avalis. She had no real intention to visit Syliras or the orphanage inside it. It almost seemed like the god Lhex set her up; fate. Ty'kika was meant to find young and naive Joliece, who knew nothing about others like herself or where they came from. Joliece had become the purpose in this older konti's life. The new mother thought it was her duty now to teach Joliece how special she was. But she could not teach her this in Syliras, it was not the right place. With that said, she secured young Joliece on their journey to Mura.

When they arrived in Mura, Joliece was exposed to a diverse culture she would soon be proud to call her own. She picked up on the language, Kontinese and loved to speak it often. This too was a great experience. Joliece loved Mura and the konti that populated it. Ty'kika showed her the beauty of the island and encourage her to interact it with often. And she did, spending a great deal of time in the medical library. Visiting the medical library sparked just a little bit of her passion for philtering. Only nineteen at the time, Joliece had decided that she wanted to be a philterer. To pursue this dream that she had, Joliece also took classes at the Opal Order. It was there, she realized that she did not have the typical traits most konti had. She did not have as much of a quiet demeanor as the other konti. Joliece enjoyed doing a lot of talking and speaking what's on her mind. She tried being like the other konti women but in the end, it did not work out.

After awhile, Joliece lost her interest in philtering --something not many konti women do--but kept the skill. During that time, she began spending less time at the Opal Order, attending classes, and more time with her mother, who was very talented in magic and willing to teach it to anyone who was interested. Joliece found herself very interested in the way Ty'kika used auristics and felt it was something she would love to do. Ty'kika decided to teach her daughter and found that she had a knack for it. Joliece became very good at reading people's auras. After a while of using this magic, she found herself depending on it to understand people. Auristics became her new devotion and once she figured she could pursue it as a career, Joliece went for it. But not in Mura. She did not fit into the beautiful city. So at the age of twenty-three, Joliece left Mura for Sunberth.

In Sunberth, she briefly lived on the street not knowing the dangers. It was one night, she slept in an Alley in a tent that Joliece was almost raped by a dark figure (to this day she could not identify who the man is). That was when she was saved by a Dhani named Sssfissluisse (Luise). The Dhani was a small business owner. He offered her a place to stay and a job in his shop. Joliece never ran into Dhani on a daily basis so Luise was the first she had ever met. He was a constrictor, tall and muscular. She found herself crushing on him and after almost a year of working and living with him, she confessed her love for the Dhani. To her surprise, Luise was attracted to her too but he did not want to confess because how rare it was for a Dhani to fall in love with someone of another race. Around the same time they became lovers, Luise established himself with an upcoming gang. Well, not so upcoming after being killed off by a bigger, more powerful gang. He knew that he would be killed if he didn't leave, so to save his life and his love, Luise fled town with Joliece.

From Sunberth to Zeltiva then finally, Syliras. There, they were safe but the life threatening-moment made the two move on in their relationship fast. Luise made Joliece his wife. As soon as they were married, Luise and Joliece began planning their life. Luise opened up another shop and she worked as a clerk in this particular shop. Yes, she put aside her dreams to help her husband with his own and did not mind. For a short while it was just them but then they decided to have a family, adopting a child (because Joliece understood what it mean to be an orphan). He was a boy they named Lynis and he was half-isur. In the year of 513 Luise and Joliece decided to adopt another boy, an infant they got to name Nathaniel. For awhile things were going well and they almost seemed like a big happy family. But Luise fell ill for some unknown reason. Joliece was left to run the shop so that her husband could focus on getting better. He didn't get better and eventually the Dhani died, leaving Joliece alone to raise two boys. She could not hold up the shop on her own and so Joliece gave it away. The konti also decided it would be best for them to move else where, a place like Riverfall.

She found a caravan willing to take her and her children. On their way to Riverfall, there was a bad Zith attack ending with Joliece fighting for her own life as well as her children. She lost the battle, being taken captive by the zith. For a very long time, the zith took advantage of her, threatening to end her children's life if she did not do what he said. It was a while before the Akalaks saved her, and in return for saving her life and her sons', Joliece would become a nakivak.

Joliece

Family

ImageName: Lynis
Race: Half-Isur
Birthday/Age: 34th of Summer, 504 (10)
Skills: Animal Husbandry (10), Intelligence(10), Socializing(5), Dancing (5), Unarmed Combat(5), Herbalism(10), Rhetoric (5)
History: The caretaker was able to see who Lynis' mother was, she was an isurian who did not want to take a half-isur child back to Sultros with her. As far as the caretaker knew the child was a mistake. He was in the orphanage up until 512, which is when Joliece and her husband, Luise, adopted him. It was easy for Lynis to call them "momma and papa". He loved them like they were his biological parents and they loved Lynis like he was their biological child. Lynis was underneath Luise and often they would do a lot of manly activities together. Luise's death hit him hard and he doesn't like to talk about it too much. Lynis tried to grow up fast so he could help his mother and take care of his youngest brother. When the zith attack happened, Lynis was scared for his family's life. When the Akalaks rescued them, he was happy. But when he found out what his mother had to do to pay them back, he was upset.

ImageName: Nathaniel
Race: Kelvic (Macaw)
Birthday/Age: 12th of Winter, 513 (1)
Skills: Animal Husbandry (5), Persuasion(20), Swimming (5), Rhetoric(10), Dancing(10)
History: When Joliece and her husband adopted Lynis, they promised to adopt more. Fulfilling their promise, Joliece and her husband came back to the orphanage just as the baby arrived. The caretaker trusted Joliece, since she was an orphan herself, to take in the infant and raise it. Joliece named the child Nathaniel. Nathaniel's Kelvic side was not discovered until they realized his rapid growing. His form was not discovered until Luise grew ill and died and Joliece left for Riverfall. It came in handy when the zith attack happened, because Nathaniel was a small baby bird it was easier to keep him safe.

Right now, Nathaniel appears to be between the ages of 3 to 5.
