The Wilderness of Cyphrus is an endless sea of tall grass that rolls just like the oceans themselves. Geysers kiss the sky with their steamy breath, and mysterious craters create microworlds all their own. But above all danger lives here in the tall grass in the form of fierce wild creatures; elegant serpents that swim through the land like whales through the ocean and fierce packs of glassbeaks that hunt in packs which are only kept at bay by fires. Traverse it carefully, with a guide if possible, for those that venture alone endanger themselves in countless ways.

4th Day of Winter, 514 AV

There was a harsh wind that howled across the sea of grass making it more turbulent and wild than usual. Alcor may have been in the form of an Akvatari, a race of creature rarely affected by the harshness of winter but even he was feeling the bitter cold as he waited for his test to begin. A group of statuesque Akalak warriors had escorted Alcor and a group of mostly female foreigners to a fairly open area just outside the city. The Ethaefal had watched as the people scheduled before him preformed their test before the gathering of judges.

Alcor wasn’t sure if it was the curse or if it was just their way but the giant warriors didn’t seem too invested in the outcomes of the ones on trial. Many of them only seemed to pay attention if the women was particularly attractive and with all the bundling up they had to do it seemed like very few were getting the consideration they deserved. This observation didn’t make Alcor feel very good about his chances, it didn’t take long to realize that male foreigners weren’t very welcome especially ones as odd looking as he. There were a few of the blue men that showed interest in him especially in his ethaefal form but it could have easily been the fact that he looked like he was made of precious stone.

A Konti women was sent back to the group in tears from the harsh words of the Akalak’s. It seemed her use of her odd spear wasn’t good enough. Butterflies started to preform their unpleasant dance with in Alcor’s chest and he wasn’t sure he could take the suspense much longer. The bellowing voice of one of the judges called out his name and his heart sank in dread. He took out an arrow from the quiver on his waist and fluttered over to the men who decided his fate.

From the disgusted looks he was getting, The Ethaefal could tell they though his slender build was a disgrace. Normally the Ethaefal wouldn’t let this bother him especially knowing the strength worshiping culture he surrounded himself with but today it chipped at his resolve like a large pickaxe. Her did his best not to let his inner frailty be known but it almost didn’t matter.

“Are you Alcor warrior of the Bow?” A purple skinned akalak asked in a mocking tone.

“..Yes..” Alcor replied hesitantly with his eyes gazing not at his interrogator but at his bow. He wished he had replied with more defiance or even confidence but he couldn’t find it in himself.

“Okay show us that you are truly worthy to be a kuvian” A few of the judges held back chuckles at the the statement while others simply scowled at the Alcor. “Krodric here will throw some targets in the sky for you to hit..shatter them and you shall be made into a proper citizen.” The purple Akalak motioned his hand over to one of the judges who had more of a turquoise colour to his skin and a face more fitting of a scoundrel.
