Appearance: Gendler stands at 6'1 with a very fit body, gifted to him by Uldur. Though his physical appearance is shocking and on the Virge of what society would accept, looking afflicted, or maybe a man that was horribly scarred by a lifetime of hardships. at first glance rather then undead. His skin is dry and pale with thin grey veins noticeable in some areas. His skin isn't his most outstanding feature though, its in the eyes and face. He has three scars running down the right side of his lips, and somewhat sunken in cheeks highlighting his broad chin and pronounced cheek bones. His eyes are an icey blue, and in dim lighting they have a faint red tint that betray the coldness of there original color. Its also worth mentioning that a portion of his original body was used in the construction of his new one. Leaving small traces of his old identity in his face.

Character Concept

Gendlers goal in life was to be a Knight of Syliras, but was disbanded from the order during his squireship for not showing the qualities a knight should uphold, despite them doing there best to remedy this. Gendler is a lost and shattered soul, devoted to Uldr for giving his life new purpose; but also secretly clings to his mortal life, often having emotional conflicts within himself under specific conditions (Killing unarmed men, women, and children.)
Gendler despises the Knights of Sylir and blames them for his failure to become a knight, his death and the death of his wife by his own hand. They have the only link to his former life, his daughter and he lets his hatred for them fuel his violent cravings, vowing that he will take back his daughter and destroy the order. He often convinces himself he is no longer a man, but something more. Evolved. And sometimes, he claims to be a monster before he kills to justify his merciless demeanor.

Character History

Born in Syliras as Hector Lanvul 474 AV , he grew up as a commoner, working in the crop fields in his early teens and sometimes helping with new constructions. Boys will be boys though, and often he would find himself getting into trouble fighting other kids and being sent to hard labor with them as a slap on the wrist. He decided to aim for the military lifestyle to put his violent talents to use in service to his city, joining the knights under squireship with others his age. He was educated and was taught the basics of armed combat and caring for equipment. Excelling mostly in the art of swordplay he showed signs of unhealthy aggression when sparing other squires. His patron took notice to it and did his best to give him proper discipline but failed. Soon after he was disbanded from his apprenticeship and was given other opportunities for work.

He wouldn't have it though, insisting he would be one of the best Knights in the order someday if he was aloud to stay, but they wouldn't have it. Hector was lost for a time, continuing the hard labor he did in his youth. Shortly after his discharge he met a fresh young woman named Saffron. The two spent little time with each other before deciding it was meant to be, and they married. At the age of twenty he was on his way to becoming a father to a daughter whom he would never meet until much later in life. Seeking better work to provide a better life for his family he decided to use his skills with a blade and join a small group of bounty hunters, despite Saffrons objection to the violent and unpredictable dangers of that work he insisted that he would be fine, and assured her he would make a better life for there soon to be family.

This wasnt the case though, because that month he died. The group was tracking a fairly dangerous criminal, a Nuit that had been discovered in the city but managed to escape. The goal was to capture the Nuit before the Knights and claim a reward for capture. The small group of three did indeed catch up to there target, but where no match to the magic of the undead. After there crushing defeat Hector managed to be the last one standing as he seemed to be the last victim by luck. His luck had ran out though because fate decided that day he would walk a different path. The Nuit overpowered Hector effortlessly, rambling about things he didn't understand, probably due to a lifetime of over giving. Maybe it thought that turning hector into a Nuit would be advantageous to his escape in some way, possibly lead the knights to think Hector was their prey.

The knights found the scene hours later and took the bodies back to Syliras for a proper burial. Hector didn't wake up for days, luckily they hadn't arranged all the burial plans yet so he was kept in an under-croft in the city. His confusion spiraled at first before he realized what had happened to him. His world had just ended, and he couldn't go back to his family as an abomination. So he left the city without a second thought, hiding in old farmhouses and barns among various other places outside the cities main walls. He hid from the world for three years before the desire to see his family once again overcame him. In 494 AV he went back to see what had become of his wife and child in hopes to bring them into immortality, only to find that his infant daughter was given to the knights to be raised as one of them. Hector confronted his wife, only to be rejected as a monster hiding in the corpse of her husband, madness enthralled the young Nuit as any hopes of getting his family back was crushed. On the night he sought to reclaim his family, he killed the woman he loved in a clouded fit of rage and anguish, vowing he would get his daughter back some day and bring the Knights there knees to answer for all the misfortunes that became a symptom of his discharge from there order. It wasn't two nights after where he captured a young man on the outskirts of the walls to switch bodies, and had his encounter with Uldr, the dark God of undeath. He simply offered Hector the means to fulfill his blind vow for vengeance, he was all to eager to accept the promises the God offered him. He was transformed again, given a new body to suit Uldurs purpose for him.. He took on the name Gendler shortly after, as a way to become the embodiment of his vow.

Gendler spent the next 20 years honing his skills with his sword, and satisfying his undead cravings (will be doing many flashbacks to fill the massive hole here, needed to have the twenty year gap for his daughter to become an important roll for future development). Eventually he made his way to Riverfall by guarding caravans from Bandits and Savages. Its here that he seeks to train with the Akalak, a race of brilliant martial artists to raise his swordsmanship to a much higher tier.

More information

Fighting style

Unflinching Ruin (unsophisticated):
Gendler has discarded the traditional sword and shield methods that his former mentors taught him, favoring a more aggressive approach to swordplay. Gendler focuses on overpowering his foes with heavy strikes and unflinching persistence, leaving most of his body open to counter strikes should they manage to withstand the crushing onslaught. While this form is without grace, there is a strange beauty in the emotions that are clearly shown while its in use: Impatience, aggression and hate in there rawest form.

Gate's of Shadow (crude):

Gendler has been toying with a form focusing on creating false openings for his opponent and retaliating with deadly counter strikes, though his invented style is far from perfected due to his lack of knowledge and applications of its uses. This is a purely defensive form that seeks to taunt opponents into making there last mistakes.

Gnosis

Gendler has been marked by Uldr, and been given the body of a type 2 Chained One. With this new body he has no Ichor and no longer needs to switch bodies. He also has an incredible increase to his physical strength, which is currently at twice the normal strength of a normal human male. He has the ability to surpass this limit, brining him to two and a half times the normal strength of a human, but doing so comes at the great cost of ripping apart his muscles from the stress which takes a very long time to heal.

A type 2 Chained one is also very difficult to kill, and should be approached with caution.
