Stretching northward along the coastline of the Suvan Sea, the Cobalt Mountains are the home of the Bronze Wood, numerous ruins, and creatures both strange and fantastical.

(Lavender Ruins) A lonely noise

Today Piper had setup farther in to the ruins of a once great manor. The bard found the ghosts who dwelled closer to the ruins were often better behaved than those roaming the forest and Piper knew why. Calidus. A strange man whom the young bard had only met on a few occasions. While most would find him spooky and threatening, he had never done anything that warranted Piper to feel that way. She had found him listening to her play from time to time and while he never really spoke, he never gave any indication that he wanted Piper to leave. She had so many questions she wanted to ask him, but never did as she didn't wish to interrupt any work he may be doing.

However she couldn't help but wonder if he was lonely living out here alone, perhaps that was the real reason she had moved in closer to the ruins. So that he could listen and go about his work whatever that may be. As she rosined up her bow she could feel the energy around her grow. Apparently word of her performances spread quickly among the ghosts and spirits. An unknown entity began to fuss with her hair, moving it this way and that way. This was always the interesting part, the antics of the dead. She set her fiddle aside putting a music book out along with a vial of ink and a quill, sometimes the ghosts had musical ideas and enjoyed jotting them down. As she went about setting things up for the musically gifted dead a single pluck could be heard on her fiddle. Piper knew this ghost, he was a regular and knew better, "Paul... we've had this talk before..."

"Okay!" She annouced, "I'm ready to start." She raised the fiddle and placed it under her chin and held the bow above it. The forest seemed to settle, and the concert began. It started with 'Sadness and Sorrow' and moved to 'Sad Romance' to a plucked version of 'Greensleeves' for Paul more of less. All three songs she used as a warm up before she attempted a new song or two and worked out the kinks in a few melodies she was working on.

Now that she was getting jobs to play at taverns her sad elegant songs were of little use. No one wanted to hear sad heartfelt music while they drank. She pulled some music from her bag she set it up and gave the ghost fair warning, "This stuff is new and far from perfect. So cut me some slack. Taverns have been having me play so I need more upbeat songs...and this one is called... I feel good today?" Piper shook her head, what a dumb name. But whatever and the song began.

(Lavender Ruins) A lonely noise

The bard played through the song a few times, fixing problems as she encountered them. It was different, playing these happy upbeat tunes. But she'd do whatever she had to for taverns to ask her to play. She had promised herself she would make it on her own and no longer rely on her mom. If anything she she should be supporting her mother now. That's how it worked in life, right? It's not like she had a father to take care of her mom. So that meant she took care of her now.

Piper sighed and ran through the song again a few more times until she was sick of it and put it away. She pulled another music book from her bag and flipped it to a song in progress. In the notes above the lines of notes was a name, Revy. The bard read over the song in progress. Picking up the fiddle again Piper ran over the notes. "Hmmm..." A few notes were added here and there. A harmony was added. Another play through and a few new notes. Yes, she'd get this song perfect and it was going to be a favorite to everyone! More notes were added and changed and removed and re-added. Notes were tied, made sharp, made flat. She picked up her fiddle once more. Yes, this sounded better, more like she heard it in her head. She'd need to spend more time among the squires, they were always a great source of inspiration for her music. Hopefully she would meet more of them come spring.
