The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

Brightening of a day

90th day of Summer, 515 AV
A few chimes past the call of the sixth bell of morning

The heat of summer was fading to the cool touch of autumn, the gentle season only days away, the harbinger of its arrival in the fading of greens to the slow changing color in the leaves. Tanell both loved and hated the the change, for at first she held only love for the beauty of the season, the solace from the unforgiving heat of summer. It was the harsh bite of winter that she disliked, the need for fires and warmer clothing, the reminder that she was forsaken, left to brave the season without the companionship of her sisters, her mother, her niece. Living like a hermit in the mountains of the city, struggling to make it through each season.

Her Call had brought her here, and she was trying to be successful, to do as the urge bid, but it was a feat that required her to work endlessly, away from a family that she loved.

The matter was one useless to consider, she reminded herself, wrapping her cloak around her shoulders. She would continue to write home, to pray that her gods and goddesses watch over her family, and strive to reach her goal here, to fulfill her purpose with grace and joy. The only way to shake off the morose thoughts that found her in the shade of autumn was to go, to do, and so she left, closing the door of her cottage behind her with the finality of leaving such thoughts behind.

Her pace was brisk, marching away from her worries and into purpose. The peak where she lived less than busy, even on a day that promised to be sunny and cool. A good day to garden, perhaps, plant the seedlings that would help form the garden of winter, for once the cold set in, many of her other plants would fade, falling into the sleep of winter. Perhaps she would ask someone about what wild plants would survive the winter, or find out of the skyglass covering her garden would keep the plants she already had alive.

Her musing was interrupted by the first of Syna's light tinting the clouds in the sky with gold and brightening the sky from nearly black to the paling blue of morning. She watched for a long while, the brightening of the day letting the warmth seep into her skin imagining the feeling filled her with energy. Her breath was the only sound she heard, working to even tune out the distant music from passerby as she watched the sky change colors.

Clearing her mind, sitting in silence, was not easy for the woman, the tones of music she heard often pulling her from her mind in curiosity of what caused someone to take notice of her. Her upbringing had caused her a concern for troubling those around her, but hadn't stifled her curiosity, so clearing her mind and thinking of nothing was a task she struggled to accomplish, although it seemed to grow easier with each attempt, from reading cards, to calming before a prayer. It helped, now, to have the changing of the sky, the note of Syna's presence to draw her mind, keeping her attuned to the moment at hand. After only a few short chimes, the sky had grown too bright, even with the goddess tucked behind the clouds, and Tanell could no longer look upon her without fear for her sight.

As easily as that the thoughts of her day came back, the movements of her breath nudging the Suvai tucked in her belt beneath her cape, the feeling of her bag strapped to her back, and she returned to motion. The breath of life pulling her forward once more as she remembered her walk, though lacking purpose, she had intended to move about, and she would. Perhaps, though, she would move slowly, seeking decorations for her home in the landscape she passed.
