Character History
Dagon lived a quiet life inside the city of Nyka. His kin and him always obeyed the law, and never did anything out of the ordinary. Born to a weaver and a sailor, Dagon grew up closer to his mother than his father, who was always away on ship expeditions.
It wasn't until Dagon had reached the age of 12 that he started to get more bent out of shape. He constantly got into fights with his peers, nothing bad, nothing horrid ever came from it either, just bruises, bloodied knuckles, and bloodied faces. Nothing that time couldn't heal.
When Dagon got to the age of 14 he started sneaking out at night and watching monks fight each other at midnight. Nothing ever serious, and so Dagon continued to think of it as fun and games, that was until he watched a death duel and watched as a monk brutally slayed a stranger on the streets in one of these brawls. The act was so vile and gut-wrenching that it caused Dagon to become physically ill, and he vomited on the side of the street. This led Dagon to swearing off violence forever. He swore to the gods that he would never pick up another weapon, and that he would never hurt another sentient creature.
Going back to a law conforming was hard for Dagon. As his escape from stress was lost, his anger grew in size, and his language picked up. He knew he could never hurt someone physically, so he turned to language and to words. Their mysterious power led Dagon to pick up books, which told tales of adventurers. The works were so powerful to Dagon that he wanted to become a story-teller.
Then, one day in a pub, as Dagon was reading a piece of fiction he heard someone singing a story. Interested and distratcted, Dagon put down the book and listened to the man sing the story of a travelling mercenary. The way the two complimented one another made baby angels appear in Dagon's heart. He knew what he wanted to do from then on.
At the age of 18, a coworker of Dagon's father came to their house clutching something in a dirty rag. The man explained that Dagon's father was lost to the sea, but wanted Dagon to have what was covered by the rag. The rag held a glass Ocarina from southern lands. Transfixed upon the item, Dagon took it and began to practice with it for the next years to come.
However, the loss of Dagon's father caused him to go into an emotional panic. He started drinking and going out to bars and pubs more often, getting drunker and drunker each night. And with each new night he found himself in different people's houses, in different people's beds.
After a year of chronic drinking, Dagon decided to stop, that a year was too long to mourn for his loss and he what he was doing was unhealthy. He decided he would leave the city of Nyka. He left with a caravan and traveled to Zeltiva, distancing himself from his old habits. This ended his drinking problem, but did not end his sleeping around, which he seemed to enjoy too much.
Every night, Dagon would go out to the local bars in Zeltiva and entertain, hoping to earn a quick coin or two, and maybe a quick roll in the hay.
