Description

Race: Mixed Blood (Myrian/Human)
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Birthday: 54 Spring, 496
Birthplace: Falyndar
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 200lbs
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: White

Appearance: The first thing most people will notice in regards to Suvaris’ appearance is that he is an albino. As such, the young man is lacking in the usual pigmentation and hues that the vast majority of the population possesses, instead having skin and hair as pure and white as freshly fallen snow. While this may lend him quite the striking appearance, it is not without inherent drawbacks, such as being particularly easy to pick out of a crowd and inflicting him with a much increased susceptibility to the sun’s rays. Due to this, Suvaris is typically found to be well-covered when the weather turns sunny, despite the heat, in an effort to protect his delicate skin from sunburn. Other than that, one other unusual aspect of Suvaris’ appearance is the fact that he is never seen without a particular mask covering his face. Completely white, the item appears to be greatly worn and aged when given even a cursory inspection, with any markings or adornments it may have had having been eroded away by time long ago and a large crack running from the right temple diagonally down towards the right eye. Smooth and featureless, it covers all of Suvaris’ face save for his brilliantly blue eyes, which are made all the more striking due to being the only points of colour in an otherwise bleak landscape of alabaster.

A tall man, Suvaris carries his height well, standing at approximately six foot four inches with a posture best described as disciplined; Back straight, broad shoulders set and squared with his head held high. His physicality has yet to reach its peak, as he is still slowly growing and, while he has yet to fill out properly, he possesses a respectable musculature that strays more towards the lean side of the scale, as opposed to bulky or stocky. His skin, alabaster white, is marred by a number of scars of greatly varying size, shape and age, some old and well-faded indeed. His hair is kept just above shoulder-length and is typically well-brushed and away from his face so as to not obscure his vision, the glossy white locks lacking in any particular style or ornamentation. His facial features, though rarely seen, are pleasant indeed, as the young man is handsome in that rare blend of masculinity and finely sculpted bone structure, with a strong jaw, high cheekbones and smooth brow.

Character Concept

Suvaris is, at his core, a man that does not truly know who he is. He has no earthly idea who his parents may have been, or why they chose to leave him at the Welcome Home like they did. It is something that he has struggled with all of his life, wrestling with whether it was something he did wrong, something about him that just wasn’t good enough, or whether the fault was theirs. His issues of self-worth, abandonment and feeling terribly alone would very likely have evolved into something much nastier and unpleasant if left unchecked, yet thanks to the kindness and guidance of those at The Welcome Home, Suvaris was able to focus his energies towards something better; The protection of others. Protecting other people is something that Suvaris has been doing since he could remember, sheltering them from unpleasantness and harm in whatever capacity he is able, often at the expense of his own safety and health. He does not expect or, indeed, even want thanks or reward for doing such, as he believes that to do so is how he will prove his worth to himself and to the parents that he never knew.

A quiet man, he is not one given to speaking carelessly or out of turn, preferring to keep his counsel to himself unless the situation necessitates that he speak up. He is calm and collected, at times cool almost to the point of being cold, but he is at heart a gentle, kind soul. He is pleasant to any that do not give him reason to be otherwise, gentle unless provoked and considerate sometimes to a fault. Despite this, there is always a distance between himself and others, a reluctance or perhaps inability to become personally involved with anyone in any true, meaningful way. It is not that Suvaris dislikes people, indeed, it is quite the opposite, but he feels on an instinctive level that he cannot let his guard down and be at ease with the other Sylirans, preferring to keep himself at a safe, pleasant distance. He is also inordinately fascinated with anything that is the colour white, be it clothing, equipment, art, or animals.

Character History

Suvaris’ history is one that is not, perhaps thankfully, full of excitement and action. Instead, it is fairly unremarkable save for a few factors, and is typical of someone that has grown up in the Syliran orphanage. He memory of his parents is poor, remembering only who he assumes is his mother, a figure with a face that he had long since forgotten, yet he remembers enough that when he describes her tawny skin, muscular build and hair as black as pitch, and that together with the fact that he spoke Myrian upon his arrival led him to be informed that she was most likely a Myrian and he in all likelihood carried that savage blood in his veins. He was left upon the doorstep of The Welcome Home in Syliras in the year 498 A.V., dressed all in loose, travel-worn clothing of a white long since faded to a dull grey-brown from ingrained dirt. He had a far-too-large mask strapped to his face, a pair of child-sized bagh nakh claws upon his pudgy fists, and a tattered parchment clutched between his fingers. The parchment itself was stained with blood, fresh and vibrantly red, and spattered with blotches of what appeared to be water drops- Whether rain or tears it was impossible to tell. Upon it was written a single word in rough, hastily written common; Suvaris. The staff of the orphanage that found him upon their doorstep took this to be his name, confiscated his bagh nakh, and took him in as one of their charges. From then, the young Mixed Blood albino lived amongst the other orphans, one of their number yet apart, for there was much about him that was strange. Wild in a quiet, intense manner, it was unclear for some seasons whether the boy could even speak at all, let alone in the Common tongue. His ever-present mask with the piercing blue eyes that followed you wherever you went, his unnatural complexion, white hair and scars that were scattered about his small frame made the other children fear him. There was also the fact that he was deathly afraid of the dark, at least until one of the staff told him of the Goddess Priskil, and how she kept the dark at bay even in the deepest of nights.

This started to change, however, when it became clear that while the other children did not consider Suvaris to be one of them, he very much considered them to be worth caring for. He demonstrated this quite succinctly over the occasions when other children or even the rare teen decided to pick on one of the orphans; They would get so far as a couple of shoves or a smack only to find themselves set upon by a small, vicious white shape that attacked them with a will, small fists and feet aimed with uncanny skill to impact against the soft, delicate parts of a person’s body that caused sufficient pain to drive them off. The first few times this occurred, it merely served to give the children more cause to be afraid of this ghost-like apparition that dwelled within their midst, as not only was he so painfully different, he was dangerous. Still, children are not often given to blind hate and bigotry, and it was difficult to dislike someone that repeatedly defended you and your friends from bodily harm. Over time, they came to appreciate him, even like him, if not understand him, and life at the orphanage changed gradually from thereon out. They began to speak to him, they no longer shied away from his presence and some even sought to play with him and give him hugs. He weathered all of this with a stoicism that was remarkable in one so young, neither embracing the affection nor denying it. He spoke when he was spoken to, and was quite polite, sometimes eloquent, largely in part due to paying rapt attention in the classes that the orphanage held for the children. That said, he was quite prone to responding with simple gestures or grunts, more often than not.

The years passed without much of note occurring, save for the occasional fight that Suvaris either got involved in or broke up, depending. He did, however, develop a strong interest in the Knights that patrolled the city that he now called home. He came to the staff of the orphanage and expressed his intent to join the Knights and, with their aid, was able to approach the Order and had set up a patron. The patron he had was a kindly fellow, soft of speech and gentle of disposition, a nice man, if a soft one, as far as Suvaris was concerned. He was about to make it all official and become the man’s Squire, when something unusual occurred. A hard-looking woman with raven hair and eyes as warm as chips of ice took his patron-to-be to one side and had a few words with him. When the man returned, he was almost as pale as Suvaris himself, and explained, apologetically, that there had been a change of plans, and that the cold-eye woman, Ser Arialla Rykvis, was to become his patron instead. He was really very sorry, as he had been very much looking forward to teaching the young man, but she had insisted and she was...Very persuasive. He hoped the masked Mixed Blood understood, and beat a hasty retreat. The woman, Arialla, informed him that he was her Squire now, and she was going to mould him into a proper Mage-Knight, or break him in the process. Suvaris merely nodded, and since then he has been under the not-so-tender care of Ser Rykvis and her gruelling training regime. That was several months ago. Since then, she has introduced him to the basics of a number of magics that the Knight deemed would be useful in a practical sense, and expects him to come to grips with the arcane skills in short order. As she also possesses great respect for the Konti that advise the Knights, she has insisted that he attempt to learn their native tongue so that he may address them properly as a token of appreciation.

Goals

Suvaris has a number of goals he desires to accomplish within his lifetime, as well as some that he is not yet aware of but will be in due time, once he gains certain pieces of information or crosses thresholds as a person.

  • Knighthood: Suvaris’ primary focus in life at the moment is to become a full-fledged Knight. While he did not plan on becoming a Mage-Knight, he is adapting to this change admirably, and has embarked upon his training with a grim determination, aiming to receive his quest to become a fully-fledged Knight as soon as he is able.
  • Help Priskil Due to his childhood fear of the dark, and his subsequent introduction of the Lady of Light and Hope, Suvaris possesses a deep and heartfelt respect and affection for the Goddess Priskil, and it is a goal of his to aid her in some fashion, to repay the bravery and hope that her tale inspired in him. Hopefully he will discover the fate of Aquiras and take up the cause of restoring the fallen divinity’s heart.
  • Coming of Age Ritual: Something that he is not aware of, yet suspects, is that he is of Myrian parentage, at least partially. As such, should the fact ever be confirmed for him and he have the opportunity to do so, he will make the perilous trip to Taloba, the stronghold of the Myrians, and undergo the Coming of Age trial, so that he may earn the right to be called a true Myrian, and in the process find out who his Myrian parent was and finally quash any doubt he holds in his heart about who and what he is.
  • Bestial Ally: Due to his innate fondness of animals, particularly felines and canines, Suvaris would very much like to someday have a bestial companion or two, be they mundane, exotic or Kelvic. In particular, he would dearly like to see and, indeed, earn the friendship and respect of one of Navre’s greater children, be it a night lion of the Cyphrus region or one of the other large cat breeds of Mizahar. Should he become aware of the Ivaski breed, he will desire one of his own an enormous amount. As well, he has entertained idle notion of breeding a special species of large cat, or dog, though he hasn’t given the idea much serious thought.

Religion

Religion and the gods are extremely important to Suvaris, as the young warrior has grown up to be quite the incredibly devout individual and would quite readily perform any task the gods asked of him, within reason. He possesses great respect for all the divine, even if he does not agree with what they represent or if they are part of the darker sides of the pantheon, but there are some that hold a place of particular reverence in the landscape of Suvaris’ soul.

Priskil

As the primary Divine in his personal pantheon, Priskil is a goddess that Suvaris truly feels for, and would aid her in some fashion if he could. Her plight touches his heart, and he deeply respects the strength that it takes to not simply give up when her plight is so trying. His worship of her started at a very young age, when one of the staff members told him the tale of the Goddess of Light one night when his fear of the dark was particularly bad. Hope is a very important part of Suvaris’ life, as much of what he strives for is tied to hope in a big way; His hope when it comes to being accepted as a Knight, his hope that he will find a true family of his own someday, hope that he will be able to put his skills and talents to use in a way that is respectable. Likewise, her vigilance over her lover Aquiras resonates quite strongly with him, as he is by nature very protective of those he cares for, and has a habit of watching out for them even when unneeded.

Tyveth

As a man with strong leanings towards justice and honesty, it is only natural that Suvaris should venerate the God of such concepts, often praying to him when he feels that he needs some guidance on matters that are not clear-cut in how just they are.

Myri

Suvaris has a peculiar relationship with the Queen of War. She represents the Myrian ideal, the pinnacle of everything one should strive to be and the absolute perfection of what a Myrian can become. Suvaris isn’t even certain of his Myrian blood, yet it feels right to him to pay respects to Myri, whether or not he actually is of Myrian descent or not. She is, after all, the Goddess of War and Victory, and the life of a Knight is at times a violent one.

Wysar

Wysar is one of the gods that Suvaris does not know very well, yet he respects and admires what he represents. Discipline plays a large part in everything Suvaris does in his life, from every day expression of it to the most trying times in his years thus far. The discipline to control the more violent urges he feels from time to time, the discipline to stick to the task at hand and not allow his attention or intentions to stray from what they should, and the discipline and conviction it takes to get up every day to put himself through the rigorous training he undergoes in order to become better are all matters that he gives thanks to Wysar for. He also respects him as a warrior god, and intends to visit the city of his children some day to learn from them.

Izurdin

Strength is something that Suvaris truly admires, in all of its forms, be it physical, mental or of the spirit. He trains regularly so that his body can fulfill the potential it holds, pushing himself to excel and go beyond his limits so that he could be considered to possess true strength, even in the eyes of the god of strength himself. He also has a deep-seated fascination for weapons and armour of all kinds, and he truly appreciates works of expert craftsman. He hopes to one day visit the domain of Izurdin’s children so that he can see the wondrous works they produce.

Viratas

Viratas is a divine that Suvaris prays to in his quiet moments. When he is alone in the dark, or feels particularly despondent, he will offer up a quiet prayer to the god of blood, asking that Viratas help guide him to a family of his own, whoever they may be, and that he become worthy of the blood that courses through his veins, as well as the heritage that it comes with. He also would dearly like to know, someday, who his parents were, and what happened to them.
