[Solo/Job Thread] Redd learns the value of a hole...

The Wilderness of Cyphrus is an endless sea of tall grass that rolls just like the oceans themselves. Geysers kiss the sky with their steamy breath, and mysterious craters create microworlds all their own. But above all danger lives here in the tall grass in the form of fierce wild creatures; elegant serpents that swim through the land like whales through the ocean and fierce packs of glassbeaks that hunt in packs which are only kept at bay by fires. Traverse it carefully, with a guide if possible, for those that venture alone endanger themselves in countless ways.

Timestamp: Day 62, Fall, 515 AV – Early Morning
Location: Sea of Grass

Redd had been up since the sun began to coat the ground in pretty colours of yellow, orange and red. It was habit really, to rise in the early bells of the morning. A habit that she hadn’t broken, for she had done it for almost three years, why should she break it now? Today, the young wolf prowled the sea of grass as a human being, for she wished to try a bit of hunting without teeth and claws. While it was preferable, the prey that she was hunting for upon this day, was a simple rabbit. While it would have been much easier to just simply hunt down the little beast on four paws with snapping teeth, she didn’t want to ruin the little beast altogether, especially if she wanted some kind of miza for it. Mizas, such a human term. She had no real need for them at some point, now at every turn, she found that she had a constant need for them, even when she didn’t have any just yet.

A sigh fell upon her lips before she turned her single hazel hue to peer at the rain touched grass. The light shower from the night before, had left the water to soak up the morning sun. Although some of it gently soaked the cloak that brushed against it, even the pants that she wore soaked up these small droplets of water. A light shiver travelled down the young kelvic’s spine, but she did not mind it all that much, for it was better than being within a city wall. The gentle breeze tugged at her cloak and made the grass rustle with its song. She pulled the black cloak a little closer to her form to keep her warmth trapped within and turned her gaze to the steps ahead. Steps that were made with bare feet and her toes curled into the soft dirt underneath them. Dirt that had been softened by the shower of rain over night.

The young kelvic wasn’t exactly sure as to how she was going to catch the rabbit when it was so obviously open out on the Sea of Grass. Not to mention the fact that Redd didn’t even really think that she had seen any rabbits worth catching on the plains, or any at all. Perhaps they were just simply hiding and camouflaging with their surroundings, it wouldn’t be the first animal to have done such a thing. Redd stopped upon a particular spot where the ground was nice and moist and she figured that that was a good spot to dig a hole. If she dug the hole deep enough and the rabbit fell into the hole, then it wouldn’t be able to get out. It wouldn’t be too hard to dig a deep enough hole, the only problem would be to get the rabbit into the hole. That was Redd’s only problem. Unless… She could probably chase the rabbit into the hole.

Redd looked around her form for a brief moment as she tried to figure out a piece that she was missing. For now though, she decided to start digging her hole. The young wolf tugged off the scarf from around her neck and proceeded to get undressed. She needed a hole and it would be faster if she simply dug a hole with her claws and not her hands. Upon placing her clothes on the ground, she shifted, a pale red light surrounded her body, shielding her naked form from the wandering eyes of others. Then, the moment that the pale light began to fade, it revealed a brindled red wolf with a single golden eye. Slowly, Redd circled the one spot that she stood on, her nose sniffing the ground as she went. She hoped that by the time that she had finished and left the generally facility, a rabbit might come along and think that her scent was an old one. At least that was what she hoped for.

Redd looked up at the barely blue sky before she shifted her attention to the ground. Digging, she was really going to be digging a hole. The young wolf was silently disgusted with herself but she dug her claws in and began to rip up the dirt and grass along with it, provided that it didn’t proved to be too much effort. The last thing that she wanted to do, was spend most of her day ripping out grass which was probably only going to grow back once more. Although given how late in the Fall season it was, it probably wouldn’t grow back till after winter. After winter came and went, Redd wondered if she would still be welcomed here, for it would be likely that she would be a great deal stronger then. The wolf would have eaten enough to be considered to be more than just a starved wolf, but a bigger threat to the people.

Dirt was thrown up between Redd’s hind legs as her front paws dug out the dirt, but its trajectory went up underneath her form and out behind her. Almost like it was raining dirt to some random person passing by and didn’t notice the obvious wolf that was digging it up. Her front paws were moving in a constant forward to back motion, her claws digging into the earth and bringing it up and out of the hole that she was creating. The young wolf obviously didn’t escape it unscathed from the dirt as it was brought up. Small grains clung to her fur, as some of it had brushed against her thickening coat. To think about bathing herself wasn’t a welcomed thought, as getting dirty was a fact that she was comfortable with. It wasn’t as if the kelvic had an aversion to water, she loved it, she just hated the fact that she would have to submerge herself in water and she didn’t know how to swim, so she had to stay close to the edge.

Back and forth, back and forth her paws moved with the menial task, but the task had to be done especially if she wanted to try something different. The young wolf paused for a brief moment, a rush of breath escaped her lungs in a huff. Her single golden hue lifted to look behind her, upon spying the pile of dirt behind her she deduced that she needed to keep digging just a little more. So, she turned back to her task, the dirt was dug up and flung up between her hind legs. Her breath was drawn in quickly before it was push out just as quick while she laboured at this menial task. A while back, before she had become a slave, she would never have pondered about digging a hole in order to catch anything. However, she would still be a part of a wolf pack, that is if she hadn’t stupidly followed the Symenestra into Ravok.

The young wolf came to a stop then as she looked up to notice that the hole was at least deep enough to catch a rabbit. After a nod of her head, a pale red light surrounded the wolf and then disappeared to reveal the naked woman. She dropped to her knees then and began to smooth out the hole, patting the dirt lightly every now and then. The young woman even began to smooth out the sides of the hole, patting it lightly so then it was more solid and not just a crumbling dirt hole. Redd even paused long enough to do a bit more digging, to carve out the side of a hole which had formed like a bit of a ramp because of how she had dug her hole. Once she had carved away her ramp, she dug the dirt out of her hole and threw it onto the pile outside of her hole. Gently, she smoothed and patted the side of the hole so then she was sure that the rabbit wouldn’t escape.
