There was a new man in Riverfall. His name was Straif Davin. He'd purchased a large chunk of property from The City Council down by the bay but well out of the range of the spray on the outskirts of Riverfall. He'd leveled it and built a large pavilion of glass and stone in the typical Riverfall style. There were expansive gardens to walk - both indoor and outdoors - and statues had been commissioned to decorate wherever Straif felt necessary. He had a flare for the appealing, that was for sure, even though the man himself was human. He had a charisma that was magnetic and seemed almost effortlessly able to talk people into things.
Things indeed, like an events center for Riverfall. He was ready to open come the first of winter, so he put together his first party, decided on a Fire and Ice Theme, and called it The Winter Blaze. It was going to be held at night and was going to showcase a great many of Riverfall's talent. There were several things going on. First and foremost, food would be a potluck. Since the event was not exactly free to attend, folks needed to pay for admittance with a food dish or offering. It could be simple or complex, but no one would be allowed in without an offering even if it was market bought. Food would be judged too and the finest would be awarded prizes.
There would be music too. Musicians from all over Riverfall were invited. They could all take turns at the dais, and as they played or sang, they were welcome to put out offering plates to get paid for their time.
Drinks were on Straif himself. The open bar was a big draw. But there were other contests as well. Costumes were encouraged and would be judged based on the theme "Fire and Ice". It was a loose idea, a concept of polar opposites, so it allowed for a lot of flexibility in its execution. All ages were welcome too, costumed or not. No one would be turned away as long as they had an offering for the buffet.
The event would get started at sundown, the 17th hour was a close approximation. The event would close at the 24th hour so there was plenty of time for comings and goings. Dancing would be prominent. But there would be food, drink, good conversation, and of course the judging of the contests.
On his advertisements, Straif promised mischief and mayhem at the party to add to everyone's fun.

This event is not going to be restrained to one thread. The amount and kinds of threads available are going to be up to you the playerbase. If you work on a costume or a dish for the contest, please tag them [Winter Blaze Costume] or [Winter Blaze Food]. You can feel free to shorten Winter Blaze to WB but we need the tags in place. If you want to dance, drink, or have fun start an open thread with the timestamp Winter 10 and title tagged [Winter Blaze]. Anyone who is also at the WB can join your open threads. I hope to see LOTS of Winter Blaze threads and lots of interaction with players between threads.
I will do a season wrap-up thread announcing winners of the costume contest and food entries. Food entries will have various categories like desert, main course, appetizers etc depending on how many we get and how you design your dishes. What you will do is thread making the dish and all that entails then delivering it to the festival. You can work in groups on this too, same with the costumes.
One thing I want to add is that your powers should begin to manifest here. If you are awarded a power, you are REQUIRED to join this event by posting threads. All the words count towards your total this season.
And as an added bonus... because Straif is promising mischief and mayhem at the event... I'd like each of you to include mischief and mayhem as a theme in your threads and have it strike at the festival. That will be another contest we will award meaning who has the best funniest, most creative, most chaotic mischief. There will be categories, of course, and lots of awards.
Don't post in this thread. It is just an informational one. Instead post your own threads and use this one as a guideline. I will make the Events Pavilion an actual location somewhat soon.
