3rd of Winter 515 AV
The morning was young, as Syna's orb slowly rose into the sky. Carin had been up an active for a few bells now. Checking over his equipment and traps, trying to make sure everything was in working order as he set out on his hunt today. It would be a slow effort for him but he was going to do everything he could to pay off his debt and start making a name for himself. Trapping had been in his family for years and he felt no shame in using it to make Rander into a well known name in the city.
He looked over his snares and nodded with satisfaction, he placed them into his back along with his water sack, a knife and some dried apples. He threw the back, grabbed his Kurki and headed off. The gates weren't far from where Carin had been staying, slipping out between them he headed off of the path and out into the forest. He had notice some rabbits on his travels up here and a few small types of birds that were staying around awhile longer.
He hoped that he would be able to bring in a few rabbits before they all tucked into their dens. The man walked slowly, his eyes looking for any signs of life. Broken twigs and animal droppings were a good sign that something was still around the area and fairly active. He stepped over fallen logs and branches. Until he found a place with a thick variety of dead shrubbery. He stabbed his kurki into the ground and pulled his pack off. He pulled out one of his animal snares and begin to set it up. He pushed the snare in between to of the bushes, pushing the dirt around it and into the floor of it. He picked up some of the dead leaves and twigs and placed them on top of and around the walls. Doing his best to hide it from anything that may try to steal it or its contents. He pulled some of his dried apples from the chat and pulled open the gate, setting it into place and placed the apples into the snare. He slowly stood up once his work was done and brushed off his knees before heading off to find another place close by to set his second one.
He thumbed the handle of his kurki as he walked through the wilderness. It was falsely peaceful out in the wilds, to anyone who spent little time out in its depths it could be considered peaceful and refreshing. But for those who made their lives it in it was all but that. It was a harsh environment, a literal dog eat dog world. There were no rules, fighting and killing were nature and the strongest came out on top.
Carin chuckled to himself and sighed. He slid his second trap under neath a fallen log. Setting it much like he did the first. He wandered off a few inches as to not scare away anything from the traps. He sat down on the ground, thumbing the side of his blade. Trapping was all about waiting, usually it involved leaving the traps and coming back later. But he didn't have time for that. He had to wait in the area and listen for the traps to go off, even checking up on them at some point.
He closed his eyes and whispered a short prayer to Caiyha as he waited turning the blade over in his hand.
