Character Concept

Jayde is an intelligent individual who is rather creative with her solving problem. She is rather crafty, and it can be rather hard for anyone to all her to accept no whenever she makes a request or a demand of any kind. Jayne is rather laid back, and it is rather hard to rile her up in any sense, and she is rarely panicked. However, when she is in a state of panic, she has a hard time dealing with it, and it usually means that it is something worth considering as a threat. That doesn’t mean that she never over exaggerates, but it is very rare for her to be frazzled by anything that isn’t worth the panic.

Despite her creativity, Jayde doesn’t have a lot of interest in making friends, and can be a bit sarcastic and rude to those who get to know her really well. She is friendly and polite to strangers, though she can also be very wary of them. Jayde's social life is rather strained, and her interactions with other people usually range from pretty good, or too bad to be worth it. She is always out to make herself better intellectually and physically, though her go to weapon is her own brain.

Jayde uses her brain more than her fist, but she does fight a lot too. Even so, she only began her training recently, so her skills are still being refined and perfected. Because of this, her brain is much more reliable, and she's at least smart enough to get out of a sticky situation rather than try to provoke a fight out of someone. However, it isn't hard to provoke her into one. Jayde has a hard time admitting that she can't do something, which is usually what gets her into trouble.

Jayde is incredibly cocky and driven to be constantly experiencing something fun. She is incredibly impatient, and becomes unreasonably angry when bored. At times, Jayde can be rather reckless when she is seeking excitement, but she knows when she's taken it a bit too far and uses caution when things get really bad.

Her only friend, her true traveling partner is her steed Silver Wood. Jayne's mother assisted in his birth in his birth, and she was right there when he was born. He was given to Jayde as her first horse, and from then on every moment of his life was known by her. Because of this, Silver is the only one that has any of Jayne's true loyalty, and is the only one the she travels with whom she will risk everything to protect. The feeling is mutual between them.

However, her loyalty is something that is rather hard to attain, because she generally doesn't care about people individually, making her rather difficult to trust in return. Jayde is only looking at the bigger picture, and she makes her decisions based how many people it will affect. It's the needs of the many over the few, and only Silver Wood would make a decision any harder for her to make. There is a good chance that she would choose the horse over a large group of people.

Even though her skills are still being refined, Jayde is impatient with juveniles, and doesn't take too much nonsense out of them. Despite all of her flaws, she is, at the very least, mature. She enjoys excitement, but she seems like a type of person kids could look up to if she were nicer to them. Even though she is impatient with them, Jayde is usually rather generous and kind to them. She doesn't get too close to them, but Jayde does have a particular fondness for children.

Being an individual who hates authority, and would much rather do things on her own, the skills that she hadn't learned from her mother or father had been self-taught to her. Even though she is very bright, this makes learning a new concept difficult sometimes, and thus, it takes a lot longer for her to figure them out. Once she knows that skill, though, she proves that she perfected it by using it in unconventional ways.

Jayde's thirst for travel is as young as her fighting skills. She had only started this yearning a couple years ago, and yet from that moment she believed her destiny lies outside of Alvadas. Jayde has a rather strong sense of self, in that regardless of others' opinions, Jayde's thought about her goal won't be altered. She is rather sensitive about it, though, and is not above defending herself when verbally attacked for her belief.

Growing up in Alvadas, it is only reasonable that Jayde be accustomed to the strange and bizarre environment that is her childhood home. Because of this, normality makes her very uncomfortable, and she thinks the average Joe in the world outside of this city is the strangest of them all. However, Jayde herself is probably among the more sane individuals that one would ever find in this city. She had simply accepted their lifestyle as normal, and never totally molded into their way of thinking. Because of this, she views herself as more of an oddball than her parents or anyone at home.

That doesn't make her anywhere near normal, though. On the contrary, she can be one of the strangest individuals that one will ever meet, she is simply not a nut-ball that most people from Alvadas can be. She is rather unpredictable, and part of her reasons for wanted to be creative with her skills is linked with how she had grown up all these years. Because of her strange way of thinking, she can be very unreasonable, and getting her to understand the normal way of thinking is not an easy task.

Character History

Jayde Emsworth was born in the Kalea region in Alvadas City. Her father was a quirky black smith named Vardon Emsworth, a rather odd man, but a rather skilled at his work. Vardon has also always been rather generous, and would often work for free, even at his own detriment. Of course, though, matching the same Alvadas charm, Vardon doesn't always stick to his rules. Though his prices are usually fair, they can sometimes be outrageous if he feels it necessary to be so.

Her mother, Kalira Emsworth, was an eccentric horse breeder, who has never been quite as reasonable when it comes to price as her husband. On the contrary, she normally takes a bit too much advantage of the prices that a horse costs can be quite a bit expensive. She usually breeds Mixed Blood breeds, but she can sometimes "mistaken" some for more expensive breeds, like Sungolds. If someone returns and faces her with the fact that she had given them wrong information, she will simply note that any expert could have had the same mistake, and that they had been okay with the price before they knew what kind of horse it was. So honestly, what really changed?

These were the people this young woman had always greeted every morning. It never seemed like she was ever greeted the same way, but it seemed like everything in Alvadas was like that. Of course, her father had often been hoodwinked, and her mother had always had some kind of trouble with people, what with her little shenanigans. Jayde had been the only one to keep them all on their feet, so she has always been their voice of reason. She had to if they were to survive in this odd environment.

Jayde's childhood is most definitely difficult to describe, as it should be in a place like Alvadas. Friendships, for starters, was never an easy thing for her, even as a child. Jayde was neither as odd as a regular Alvadian, nor did she ever meet the requirements for the norm outside of Alvadas. Anything she said seemed strange to them, and she grew to know it quite well, but it never really bothered her. People Jayde's age never really intrigued her anyway. She'd much rather read books or ride on one of her mother's horses or two.

At the age of four, Jayde had learned how to read rather basic words in her common language, and it was clear that she very much enjoyed learning what she could understand. She disliked the fact that it was difficult to relate to a lot of things there, so something that she'd always brought up in her rare conversations with others was her frustration about this when she was eight. Jayde even tried talking to bring it up to her parents, but it always ended with someone getting rather offensive, or trying to confuse her even more.

It had been obvious from then on that she'd never truly belonged there, but traveling was hardly an option for the Emsworths since they had already set up a way of living in Alvadas. That, and traveling too far was even more dangerous than the city could be. At least the family was used to the eccentricity of the city, and how lethal some illusionary nuts could be, but at least they knew how to deal with it. The family had never been outside of Alvadas, and had never even dared to attempt to.

At least, not Vardon or Kalira. However, from the moment Jayde learned how to read, a kind of dream was planted in her had, and that seed only grew as time went on. Her parents could clearly see that something was up with her by the time she was eight, but it almost became obvious once she turned thirteen. They thought it was adolescents that made her way over and over again that she wanted to leave, but they didn't really have a clue how little of a fit Alvadas was for her. All they knew was that, as a family, they couldn't live anywhere else.

This was a rather dark three years in the Emsworth household. No one died or anything, but it was clear that Jayde would never be the sweet little girl that they once knew again. They knew that whatever had happened to her would change her forever, and the strange thing was that it all happened so naturally. She wasn't talked into it from some random dude, or even an elder. It was just so obvious to her that she wasn't meant to be there.
