15 Spring 502 A.V.
Jasmine yawned and sat up as her hair stood up on all ends from rolling around in her sleep the night before. She rubbed her eyes with her little hands to help her wake up before she went to get something to eat from the kitchen area of the pavilion. Once fully awake the young child crawled out of her pallet on the floor padding gently into the main tent where her mother had some dried meat and water ready for her to use. The young child ate the meat with a smile and drank some water from the water skin.
"Go get cleaned up," her mother said and shooed the small child away. Jasmine jumped up and ran to get dressed and braid her hair for the day.
Once her hair was done the young Drykas ran out of the tents and to the training area her father uses to train horses and young children how to ride. Jasmine ran over hearing the neighing of the horses. Her blood sang in her veins with excitement as the young girl pushed harder going harder to reach the horses sooner. Ducking under the posts her father nods to her before continuing the lesson as he knows that soon he will need to begin seriously training his own child as well. Jasmine snuck over to her father's stallion that was far older than most of the other horses in the family herd.
"Hey," Jasmine said with a bright smile looking at him and pats his muzzle before climbing up to the top of a post and getting on top of the stallion.
The young girl held on tightly as she situated herself ready to try to "ride" the older stallion. The young girl holds on tightly to the stallion as he walked around unphased by the small child on his back. Gasping gently the small child leaned down holding tightly to the sides of the horse's stomach as her small fingers were wound tightly in the mane of the powerful stallion below her. Jasmine gasped while holding on tightly to the hair at the base of the powerful stallion's mane. She was extremely inexperienced on riding without her father behind her controlling the beast. Slowly the small child raised up into a sitting position a little more comfortable at the speed the stallion was using which was a calm walk.
"I can do this," She said with a smile excited to show her father that she was ready to learn with the rest of the kids.
Jasmine could not stop herself from looking over at how easily the other kids her age were riding already while her father was paranoid about letting her ride on her own for even a moment. Jasmine held her head high ready to show what she was made of. Scooting back was her first move as her father had showed her a few days ago, once in position the girl took a deep breath and clicked her tongue raising one foot and slamming it in the side of the stallion.
The stallion neighed rearing up and raced forward causing the child to attach to him like a madman. She held on tightly screaming when the stallion reared up causing everyone to look over to where the small girl was at. Her father quickly got the rider off another horse before mounting up and racing after her.
"Papa!" Jasmine cried when she saw him reaching one hand over to him.
"Hold on!" He shouted and pushed the mare up beside the stallion as he managed to get a hold of the child lifting her off the back of the horse. He pulled the mare to a halt letting the stallion wear himself out before he will return.
"Jasmine I told you to NEVER get on a horse without someone there to watch you!" Her father said sternly looking at small frightened child.
"Yes, father," Jasmine said with her head down still shaken from the ride on the stallion.

Jasmine looked up at her father saddened by his anger.
"Father please do not be angry with me. I just wanted to prove that I was ready to ride without you feeling like you have to ride behind me all the time." Jasmine said pleading her case to the man who had never allowed her to ride alone on the horses.
"I understand that. I am impressed that you were able to slip by me and get on a horse without alerting any of the other mentors as well," he said looking down to the child he was holding.
"Huh?" Jasmine asked confused looking up at him surprised that he would say something like that. The child was confused by her father's words while the two were alone.
"I am hard on you because you are my child. If you are not able to learn to ride then how could I allow myself to teach others?" The older man asked looking down at the small child.
"Yes, father. I understand," Jasmine said not wanting to anger her father once more.
"Good," he said looking at child as the two finally make it back to where he was training the other kids from around the clans. Jasmine was picked up and put on the ground before her father joined her on the ground as well.
"Since you have tried so hard to impress me, we will start your lessons once we all return from lunch," the older man said looking at the child with a soft smile.
"Oh thank you papa!" Jasmine said with a bright smile and hurried on home to have lunch with her father and mother.
The young child could hardly sit still as the three ate lunch. Once lunch had been eaten the child jumped up and raced back to the practice area her father uses as he laughed watching how excited she had become.
Jasmine looked as her father finally walked up while talking business to one of the other instructors.
"Come on daddy!" She called looking at him and pouting wanting him to hurry up and get the stallion again.
"Okay let me go get Trace," he said and ruffled the small girl's hair.
Jasmine laughs and sticks her tongue out at him. The child ran to her father as he smiled down at her before getting her to hold the Yvas. Jasmine took a deep breath holding the Yvas up making fun for her dad so he would relax like when he was teaching her how to use a bow a few years ago. He shook his head before looking at the stallion and clicking his tongue. By taking the reigns he walked over and made the horse stop as he helped Jasmine put the yvas on said horse. Jasmine smiles up at her father once the two finally get the yvas on the stallion.
"What now papa?" Jasmine asked with a huge smile on her face.
"Now we go outside and ride," he said and put a lead on the stallion before walking outside with Jasmine.
Jasmine raced out ahead of her father and his stallion ready to ride once more. She took a deep breath and climbed up on the post again and got on the stallion without her father's helping working to prove her father that she could ride on her own. Her father walked forward as the stallion followed him; Jasmine held on tightly so that she would not fall off this time. Jasmine nodded to her father showing she was ready for him to snap the end of the lead by his leg and get the stallion into a trot.
"Faster!" Jasmine said with a smile ready to try to go faster.

Her father snapped the lead once more causing the stallion to pick up his speed and begin a longer gait than was previously used. Jasmine gasps and held on tighter with her legs almost falling off the back of the stallion. Jasmine slowly sat up straight once more after becoming used to the wider gait the stallion was using. The small child closed her eyes and allowed her body to move with the horse's body. Becoming one with the horse to truly know the creature beneath her small body. Her father watched her movements amazed that he did not need to tell her to move with the horse's body instead of fighting it in order to keep her back straight as a board.
"Good girl. Moving with the horse helps him to have a full reign of motion without having to fight against your stiff riding position," he said looking at the child as she rides.
The child smiles brightly so happy to have impressed her father. Jasmine continued to try and show off to her father as she was excited to really show she understood what to do and when to do it. The older Drykas watched over the young child as she worked on figuring out how to gain speed while on the horse. Jasmine took the chance her father had given her while under his supervision and pushed the horse into a canter. The pulsing of her heart could be heard in her ears.
"Am I doing well?" Jasmine asked her father looking over to him.
"Yes, you are doing very well," he said looking at the small girl.
Jasmine smiled brightly at her father and pushed the horse to go faster. The horse's hoof beats became faster and faster till soon the creature was galloping around the circle her father had created with the lead rope.

After allowing the child to ride at the fast pace for some time the male Drykas slowed the stallion to a slow walk once more. Jasmine pouted looking at her father as she had wanted to continue the ride. The male Drykas walked over to the pair.
“Time to get off for the day young one,” he said and helped the small child off the stallion's back.
“Yes, father,” Jasmine said with a sigh looking down gently.
The pair walked inside once more and began to clean up the stallion for the day. Jasmine ran off to get a brush before returning to her father. Putting her hand under the strap of the brush the young child began by putting her hand on the stallion's side to show that she was beside him. Once the stallion looked over then returned to looking forward the girl begin to brush the dirt from the stallion's side while humming gently to pass the time.
“Very good,” her father said looking at the young child as she was grooming the stallion like a proper rider would after a long day of riding.
“Thank you papa!” Jasmine said beaming with pride at how she has began to impress her father.
Jasmine continued to brush off the stallion, after a while the child went and got a stool that she could use to reach the top of the back on the stallion. Her father helped make sure she was stable on the top of the stool before she began to brush the back of the stallion. Jasmine crawls down once more with a smile getting the stool and walking around the front of the stallion beginning to brush off the other side of the stallion.
“Very good big girl. Always brush off all sides of the stallion or mare before feeding them,” he said looking at the child happy and content to teach her about horses and how to care for them.
“Always papa!” Jasmine said with a bright smile happy to show off what she knows.
Jasmine smiles and runs to put the stool up giggling. While not paying attention the child tripped and falls forward landing face first. Jasmine slowly sat up as the little one is covered in scratches and dirt from the ground.
“Up, Jasmine,” her father said trying to teach her to be strong and not cry.

Jasmine slowly got up from the ground and winces. She dusted off her chin, hands, and knees; looking over at her father. After he nods to her the little one picked up the stool once more and finished taking it back to where her father kept the stool at. Once put away the young girl hurried back to her father to see what was next on their list of things to do with the stallion before the two turned in for the night.
“What's next papa?” Jasmine asked looking up at her father.
“Next we feed and water him,” the man said looking at the child before him.
“Okay papa,” Jasmine said and walked with him as the two went down to the river and let the horse drink from the colder water.
After drinking some water the stallion turned and began to graze some as the older man spoke to the girl about learning how to join the Web. The child sat beside the older man and listened intently excited to learn more about her culture and webbing.
“But how do I become one with the world?” The small child asked as she looked up at him with innocent blue eyes filled with confusion.
“It sounds harder than it will seem once we begin learning,” the older drykas said looking at the child with kind eyes showing he would teach her once she had become older still.
Jasmine sighed gently and looked seeing the stallion walking over to the pair once he was done eating. With a small grunt the man stood from his sitting position and looked back to the child once more.
“You may stay out longer, but be home before dark or your mother will be cross with both of us,” he said and lead the stallion back home tired from the days work.
Jasmine watched her father walk away proud and strong from many years working with the horses and other Drykas in a world that would easily kill a man of weaker stature. The day wore on as the young girl played with other kids from around the city. Soon the sun had begun to set marking the time for the child to hurry home before her mother became upset with her.
“Uh oh mom will be so mad if I'm not home soon!” Jasmine said and quickly took off making her way home once more down the streets of the same yet unfamiliar town she had come to call home.
The young blond haired child came to a stop in front of her family pavilion panting gently before catching her breath and walking inside to see her mother looking for her to appear.
“Here I am mother,” Jasmine said with a bright smile looking at the older blond drykas.
“I was just about to begin shouting your name. Well timed now go get cleaned up the food is almost ready,” The older blond drykas said and shooed off her daughter to get cleaned up for supper.
Jasmine readied herself for bed after cleaning up from the day of riding at the training area. Once ready the small girl went and ate with her family before kissing them each good night on the cheek and walking to her pallet. Once curled up the small one yawned unable to hold it back any longer and fell asleep quickly dreaming of riding once more.
