Appearance: A'Lana is a delicate looking woman, like most Konti. Her frame is petite, standing no taller than 5'2" and weighing 100lbs. She definitely has that meek thing going for her if you judge her by her appearance alone. Her skin is a soft white with scales in a few opal-like hues, pale pinks, blues purples, nothing too noticeable unless hit by the right amount of sunlight, and even then the colors are fairly muted. Her hair is a pale blond and usually kept long and either thrown into a messy braid or tied back with a ribbon or sash or some kind. Her eyes are a dark green and lined with thick, darker blond eyelashes. While she has been known to sport make up every now and then she typically reserves it for special occasional and goes au natural most of the time. It would be difficult to mistake this woman as anything remotely human, from the pale white skin covered in scales to the gills on her neck and even the webbing between her fingers and toes.
Gnosis A'Lana has a Healing Gnosis from Rak'keli which manifests in the form of an intricate facial tattoo. It stems out from the outer corner of her left eye and gracefully slopes down the side of her face in swirling sigils that are unmistakably from Rak'keli. the colors mimic her scales, but are less translucent and are more noticeable opal hues. A'Lana is an open minded character. While she does have hr own biases and prejudices, she is willing to give an individual a chance to prove her conceived notions incorrect. While she generally dislikes Myrians, seeing them as blood thirsty savages, she is willing to not judge an individual by that standard unless they show her it is a correct assumption. This can prove dangerous as she has put herself in situations where she only solidified a stereotype and it put her into danger.
Despite the fact she has seen her fair share of death and tragedy, it seems to only strengthen her desire to help others and befriend any she can. Her sunny optimism hides the very real feelings of discontent and worthlessness she feels. While she seems to look for the bright side of everything it is just a mechanism to keep herself from falling into a deep depression. If there is a dire situation that she is unable to see a bright-side on it can effect her deeply and put her into a slump. She does seem to try her best to keep her optimism at the forefront and very few tend to see the darker thoughts hiding behind her big smile.
Passion is something that does not take much thought to find for this Konti. She is incredibly passionate about anything and everything she involves herself in. Sometimes this can be overwhelming to those not used to her. She is the sort who can get so angry in an argument about a topic she feels strongly about that she begins crying in true frustration when she cannot seem to convince the other party to see her side. While she does understand she cannot make everyone accept her view as truth, she gets terribly upset when they refuse to even try seeing from a different perspective, though she herself can be stubborn about seeing from another perspective.
She has flaws and strengths. Sometimes they conflict other times they seem to work together. A'Lana will be a character who has a few of her own obstacles to overcome in her development and I look forward to fleshing her out and seeing who she grows into as time goes on.
Konti Gift: A'Lana was gifted with the ability to know the birth date of a person. The more physical contact she has with someone the more precise she can be with her gift, however when she just meets someone and does not have any physical contact she usually can tell the season and maybe a general range their birth date is in. She cannot determine the birth date of an unborn child at all. She can only see birth dates that have already happened. (approved)
Character History
A'Lana was born in Riverfall to a Konti woman names Kalana and her Akalak Talvis. She had been a Nakivak for a few years and had produced two healthy Akalak boys in the past. Once A'Lana was born she took a brief break to rest and take care of her Konti child. Once the waiting period was over her Talvis returned and then they had their Akalak son.
Growing up in Riverfall was an interesting experience. Once her younger brother had been born, weaned and taken away, it was just A'Lana and Kalana. Kalana had no other Konti daughters, having been quite successful in getting pregnant with boys instead the two times before A'Lana. Kalana was a good mother and treated A'Lana well, as most Konti seem to do. A'Lana was sheltered and kept from having to worry about things. Despite having to never ask for something twice A'Lana learned fairly early on to have a sense of responsibility. She understood that things had to be acquired through some sort of means and so she rarely asked for frivolous things, instead only asking for things she really, really wanted, or just for things she knew she would need. She knew that if there was some pretty dress or toy she wanted she could always ask for chores to earn the Mizas to buy it herself.
Her mother, once retired from actually having children, went back to the Oathmaster's Tower and began working with them to help new Nakivak's and aid in the birthing process. She loved children, and though she personally did not want any more, she wanted to help see more children come into this world safe and healthy. Kalana was good at her job, she enjoyed working with the women, though she ended up caring deeply for them as well, which was both a blessing and a curse.
There was one such woman, a human who had been rescued from Zith and put into the Nakivak system, whom Kalana grew quite attached to. A'Lana had moved out by then and was studying Herbalism, wanting to mix medicine and learn about different plants, and was regretfully not in much contact with her mother, consumed in her studies. The woman ended up trying to run away after she was found to be sucesfully pregnant. Kalana insisted to go with the Akalak's to try and help bring her back safely and avoid adding extra stress to the woman. Considering she was a useful healer her request was originally rejected until she made it clear she would go with or without blessings. In the Sea of Grass Kalana perished along with the pregnant woman from an attack by Glassbeaks.
