The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

It was like most other nights.

Atticus sat in the Iraltu Observatory with a handful of books propped up in the right positions on his usual desk. It suited him nicely in his current endeavors to do extra research; he could have gone home bells and bells ago. In fact, he didn't at all need to come into work today. It was one of his designated days off, seeing as he had worked the previous five continuously, but to Atticus what he was doing wasn't work. It was pleasure and interest, which he considered himself lucky for having in his preferred field. It made a lot of things a lot easier to do.

In fact, what he was doing technically wasn't work. His work typically consisted of busywork, which was completely fine, regarding to placement and movement of stars, clusters, or particular objects that have been spotted. For most of the apprentices that worked at Iraltu, it was somewhat humdrum, but Atticus enjoyed it immensely. The opportunity to track these objects was something the young stargazer would never have dreamed of attaining. It was a privilege to him, and he worked with passionate diligence to assure his position would be kept.

Today, however, he relaxed with light reading on mathematics and physics. He was doing light study on how one might measure different kinds of movements in math. Admittedly, Atticus wasn't the best at mathematics, and would be the first to admit he's not as well-versed in the field as he would like to be. Recently he had begun studying mathematics fervently, hoping to become a bit more adept to further improve the quality of his research at the Iraltu Observatory. That is what he had most recently been working on.

Atticus leaned back in his chair. The room was mostly empty, save him and maybe two or three other astronomers doing their separate work. Atticus stretched his arms and yawned. He wasn't sure of what time it was, only that when he had entered the observatory it was bright outside and now it seemed to be night. His work seemed to eat up all the bells of the day. Atticus stood and, deciding that some fresh air was in order, began walking towards the door, stumbling a bit towards one of the walls, not realizing one of his legs had fallen asleep. he yawned and shook his head before limping out the door and leaning against the nearest wall once outside.

Atticus took a deep breath and let his head fall against the wall behind him. He glanced up at the sky.

Unfortunately cloudy.

Leth's light shone through the clouds just enough so Atticus could easily know where everything was in the sky, but couldn't view it. Which might have been a good thing. If there weren't any clouds he may have stared at the sky for bells more. Atticus sighed, content for the moment with his surroundings. He leaned his head against the wall once more and closed his eyes, if only for just a tick...

Faceclaim credit to Bee. Love her.
