While Sylira is by far the most civilized region of Mizahar, countless surprises and encounters await the traveler in its rural wilderness. Called the Wildlands, Syliran's wilderness is comprised of gradual rolling hills in the south that become deep wilderness in the north. Ruins abound throughout the wildlands, and only the well-marked roads are safe.

19th of Winter, Mid Afternoon
Road From Sunberth to Syliras

ImportantThe distance between Sunberth and Syliras is 2500 miles in a straight line. This is a HUGE distance to travel on foot or horse. Thus, you will not arrive in Syliras until the 74th of Winter. We'll make it short and sweet, so you can get to threads after that date, but expect there to be peril.

Thirty-six days. That's how long Tyserius' caravan had been on the road. The road. It was hardly that. Barely a dirt track, filled with bumps and ditches. It was good the ground was frozen, and better that Tyserius was well versed in the journey, and well prepared. The specialists in the caravan included carpenters, hunters, and other useful professions. There was even a cook. The entire convoy had been meticulously planned out, provisioned, and staffed. Tyserius knew what he was doing.

The one thing that was lacking was company or conversation. Most of the men kept to themselves, or their own cliques of two or three, hardly saying a word to others. Tyserius was the only one who spoke to everyone. He oversaw everything. The night watch, the patrols sent ahead and out to the flanks to look for bandits, the camp setup. Everything. And he was good at it.

He even knew how to fight. Six days into the journey one of the guards decided he didn't want to complete the job. Problem was, he also decided to take some of the finer merchandise back to Sunberth with him. Tyserius sniffed out the thief and confronted him. Weapons were drawn, and in a display of vicious skill with his mace, the grizzled caravaner smashed in the rogue guard's skull.

Gambling was a regular thing amongst the crew. Dice and cards primarily, but some men bet on other things, like which wagon would break down next, or what day they would get attacked by bandits.

It was an especially cold afternoon, the wind lowering the temperature even more. Tyserius came riding over to Grayzdo, bringing his horse up next to him. "You're on the next patrol. It leaves in five minutes from the front of the column," he instructed before riding further back along the caravan.
