Adon Gloaming, of the Ruby Clan

Appearance

Race: Human, Drykas
Gender: Male
Age: 41
Birthday: 80 Spring 476
Birthplace: Endrykas

Appearance: A sturdy man with steel grey hair, lighter grey eyes the colour of flint, and weathered brown skin. His left leg is almost an inch shorter than his right and he is missing 1 and a half fingers on his left hand from a hunt that went badly wrong. His windmarks spiral down from left shoulder to hand, truncated slightly by the now missing fingers.

Character Concept

A quiet man, often overlooked, but with a knack of spotting what's needed and calmly fulfilling it.

Character History

Born into Ruby clan, he took to crafting like a duck to water. Aged 10 he was climbing a tree to get wood when he fell and broke his left leg. It healed sound, but shorter than the other, so that while he rides as well as any other drykas, on foot he limps badly, or stands hipshot, like a horse. For a time he thought no strider would want him, but when he turned 17 he met a young mare frolicing in the grasses. They bonded and he got his windmarks accordingly. From then on, his Ankal father insisted on including him in webbing lessons with his older brother so that both heirs had the knowledge. Now fully Drykas, he married another Ruby clan woman, and fathered and raised three daughters, all of whom married off in their turn.

Housing

Location: Gloaming Pavilion, Ruby Clan, Endrykas

House: 1 large tent (4 person)
1 large tarp
100 ft of rope
1 lantern
2 torches
1 bedroll
1 blanket
1 set of fishing tackle & hooks
1 bonded Strider (buckskin mare called Goldie)
1 Yvas
1 large set of Yvas bags

Note on Yvas:
The Drykas use what is called a Yvas on their horses rather than bridles and saddles. A yvas is what equates to a girth with an attached breast collar combination hung with hooks and topped with a small flat hand grip that lays along a horse's shoulders. The Yvas is often placed over a colorful pad that acts to protect the horse from the rider. The grip fits over a strider's withers which holds the yvas in place. It almost looks like the type of thing vaulters used on their draft horses, though it is more functional than a vaulter's pad. The horses can free themselves from them if they got separated from their riders, and do not have tack to entrap or tangle them when they are running loose. The yvas has ring tethers on it for handling a set of wither bags and a waterskin, and is often decorated in knot-work beading that identified the horse and rider as part of a specific pavilion.

Drykas ride without any headgear or bridles on their horses at all. They do not use any halters either.
