60th o Fall, 516

Nemori yawned, it had been a long day and her limbs ached from the work. She was unused of the exact time, near midnight? It did not matter really. Her plan was to simply go home and sleep. She smiled at the thought of finally getting opportunity to rest. Tomorrow would likely be just as busy. She still had a few chores that she had not found time to finish, but they could be put off till tomorrow. It was gently snowing and Nemori glanced up at the bright stars above. They were a few clouds dotted around producing the light dusting of snow. Occasionally she could feel the specs falling from her shoulder. The snow was cold against her face and she closed her eyes momentarily to enjoy the feeing. To her surprise she felt herself bumping into something suddenly. Had her tiredness caused her to walk into somebody she had not seen?

“Sorry” She mumbled tiredly, glancing to the location of the thing and expecting to have somehow walked into an elk. Instead stood a woman. It seemed like the woman had not moved although they was no snow coating her clothes. The woman was elderly and extremely pale. Her white hair was tightly tied into a bun and her lips were pulled into a scowl. The woman’s eyes were a faded grey. Nemori did not recognise the woman. She hesitated at the idea of some stranger suddenly appearing. They must have moved very quickly despite their now stationary position. Most travellers were younger then this woman. “Are you okay?” Nemori’s orange eyes studied the woman carefully. She looked, shimmery? Her clothes were traditional of Avanthal with layers of pale faded colors wrapped tightly to keep out the cold and snow. The woman did not seem to meet Nemori’s eyes, appearing almost dazed as she looked into a non-existent thing in the distance.

“The Captain’s daughter is to blame” The womans voice was shaky and strange. It had the musical wisps of the language but something felt unusual about the way she spoke.

Warning of the Captain's daughter

Postby Nemori on September 2nd, 2016, 2:06 pm

“Captain’s dau…Pardon?” Nemori inquired politely, her eyes twisting into grey. She did not know a Captain, nor any daughter of such. As far as she was aware no such people were visiting the town unusually.

“The Captain’s daughter stole mine. The unshifting witch.” The figured seemed to growl as she spoke and her eyes moved into a misty blue color. The woman’s eyes still seemed to carry a fadedness to them. Despite their color. The woman looked at Nemori directly. “My daughter was always so good. Why was she stolen?” The womans words were somewhat mumbled and Nemori strained to hear them properly. “Where has she gone?” The woman looked sad, her eyes sinking into a pale green. After a moment the woman looked towards the ground, no longer paying attention to Nemori.
“I don’t know who you are talking about, can you give me any more information? Perhaps I can help you find her?” Nemori questioned, attempted to meet the womans gaze once more. The woman did not seem to response to her words and for Nemori grew more concerned. Was this woman ill? Did she need to be escorted to a doctor? She could tell the woman was muttering under hear breath but the words were far too quiet for Nemori to hear anymore. “Ma’am?” Nemori reached forwards to attempt to attract the woman’s attention by touch but her hand went through the woman. It felt like the normal air and Nemori froze stock still. She could feel the tiny flakes of snow landing on her hand as she stood still. Her arm was still pressed into where the woman’s shoulder should have been. Nemori’s eyes widened into pale green. “Ma’am…”Nemori squeaked.

“…The coming fire is punishment…. Punishment for her treachery. I know it is. ” The woman spoke louder suddenly. Her words becoming audible once more.

Warning of the Captain's daughter

Postby Nemori on September 2nd, 2016, 2:07 pm

“I…” Nemori opened her mouth to speak but the words died on her tongue. The invisible woman continued mumbling despite her, her voice fading back into inaudible. It seemed that the woman was not at all paying attention to Nemori’s presence any more.

“She stole my daughter’s heart….” The woman’s words started to fade in and out of hearing once as she began to amble forwards. Each step was slow and shaky as if riddled with pain and difficulty. “Never trust a Captain’s daughter….I never did see mine again….” The voice seemed to fade in and out as if it was besides Nemori, she did not notice before. The voice was strangely disembodied from the woman despite the fact her mouth had been moving to speak the words. “It’ll all be absolved in wheels of fire…” The woman hesitated a few steps away from Nemori, looking backwards towards her. Faded orange eyes stared into Nemori. “Everything…..burning.” And with those final words the woman disappeared before her eyes. Nemori stood in the silent field for a moment. Hesitation overwhelmed her. The omnious word rang through her head a few times. Fire? Captain’s daughter? It all made little sense and felt like a story she had only half heard. Had she imagined everything? It must have been an illusion of the snow? Snow illusions tended not to have sound….. Nemori dropped her hand and stared at it for a moment. She was certain she had seen the woman, she was certain she had heard some of the woman’s words. Perhaps it was her who needed the doctor. The snow was starting to build more and Nemori tore herself from the spot she had been rooted by the chilling experience. She tried to push the encounter from her mind. Nobody would believe such an insane story if she tried to tell it.
