Character Concept

Octavius overall is an ecstatic individual. Typically coming off as exceedingly confident and energetic, he tends to find himself the center of any social group he can find his way into. With a favor towards groups he finds himself in the clutches of bars, smoke pits, gambling, the late night harbors, anywhere where people would typically congregate he too would find himself drawn to. He finds himself standardly careless and haphazard in how he lives, more leaning towards a whimsical, in the moment next move, than to actually draw out his time in considering anything resembling a long term plan. He is highly musical, tending to hear music through his day to life even where there isn't any, as a constant loop in his own head. Highly values Integrity, Family and Friends, Diligence, and Joy.

Able to garner a crowd up, but doesn’t have any direction when he does. High capacity for learning but doesn't tend towards seeking knowledge or new information unless it suddenly pertains to his interests, which tends to give him a very broad brush of understanding. Able to connect to and understand people but doesn't quite come off as empathetic or serious when the moment calls for it. Has a high tendency to trust in others but as such is more susceptible to cons or schemes. Happy tendency to experiment and try new things, but is more likely to get involved in drugs, promiscuity, and alcohol with the situations he puts himself into.

Character History

Octavius was born in Syliras to a mercenary Father named Michael who admired the Syliran knights, but due to age and injury felt unfit to join. And a Mother named Amnea who served as a bartender to a local tavern in the area. The two met in an expectable romanticized way, over drinks and repeated visits and fawns over one another. They falling for each other for every variety of compatible reasons, and while what they tended to value differed. He carrying values of honor, patience, understanding, integrity, and any standard set you'd find in a man worthy to be a Knight, and she carrying values towards family, an appreciation for art and life, and inner peace, they carried enough between personalities to be a delight in the other's life. They married in the Summer of 492, and over time talked about settling and owning a small business together. They discussed many ideas but eventually settled on the concept of music being the basis for their business. As Amnea had already played Violin, having been taught by her father, and Michael had grown to more appreciate music the longer he had been with her. He picked up on the flute as they found the mixture of sound to be quite complimentary to her playing, and he spent his days less in his adventures as a mercenary and more and more grew into the play of it as he improved.

As the Fall of 494 came to a close, and as he felt like his job as a Mercenary was getting too dangerous for the age he was becoming, he proposed the idea to her of going to a new town, grabbing a ride on a well defended caravan once the winter passed, playing music for their passage to a new world. She agreed, and once the Spring began to light the world back to life, they picked up their most important valuables, packed rations and left on a trade Caravan headed for Zeltiva, offering their services in exchange for a ride. Given the nature of they passed through the wilderness with the watchful eyes of their merchant guides and guards fairly painlessly. A close call here or there, but nothing that was too outwardly concerning for them. They arrived in Zeltiva and set up at an Inn and played their music together through the seasons, earning money from donations rather than charging for their service. And while that set them up for higher risks, it made them both happier to do so. After numerous suggestions that their brilliance and style should not be saved for any one city, the pair grabbed aboard another Caravan and made towards another city. Then another a couple years after that, And more through every year proceeding, all along the Kabrin Road. Playing their songs where they were accepted, and where the Trade would take them. Through tough times and rich, as fickle as donations over paid service could be for any set of musicians, this remained constant for them through the rest of Octavius's life.

Octavius began to remember parts of his life and came into consciousness at about 4 during a stay in Kenash. He lived his life generally better than the average Mizaharian, at least in terms of how he felt about it. His family moved often, and he adjusted to such a lifestyle calmly. He wasn’t much of a problem child growing up, while his natural fervor did make it tense at times between his parents and him, overall they lived a loving life on the trading road. As he aged his attitude grew towards a natural joy and appreciation of the world around him. Likely assisted by the travel and poetic ways which his parents made him think of the world, he became more socially inclined, making close friends in his small time he had in every city he'd pass by. One of the more notable instances being around 10, when he made well friends with an Akalak boy named Geminae of approximately the same age. While suffering a bit of a Language barrier, the Akalak only having a poor grasp of common at the time, they grew to be friends eventually through fighting games, mostly fencing and throwing through the beaches of Riverfall at the time. They would fence and fight with wooden training weapons their parents got them, and attempt to help the other in the most vainest of efforts to teach the other their more fluent language. Slightly diminishing the language barrier they had as time progressed. While years change quickly, and ages change tune, every time he would go to Riverfall these two would find themselves fighting it out on a beach and continuing their short lasting but memorable kinships. There were many instances of similar cases, where Octavius met and worked with holiday-like friends over the few years he would have in each city, acclimating and adjusting to change with a social and joyous attitude.

As Octavius progressed into his teen years and began experimenting with various instruments and working to rally some amount of showing for his family's performance, the two now finally beginning to master their art. He would find an ever yearning interest in Independence. Finding a desire for stability hidden somewhere in him, maybe it being the occasional lack of food due to their occasional poor planning. Perhaps the routine of travel somehow got monotonous to that who was always on the walk. It could have been he wanted to make his own travel, but whatever set of reasons he had for it, he began to express this desire for stability and independence to his parents over time. Getting lost in cities, and wild searches for his meaning and his god, leading him into bars and wild events. Not quite finding a god, but after his 17th, and catching the eye of his parents. They arranged the time and money for him to select an instrument of his choosing. His mother suggesting the lute, out of memory of her own father. He would follow this suggestion, and as he learned it, with the guidance of his mother, he would begin to earn some of his own coin. His mother, ever the reminiscent gave to Octavius his grandfather's old case, for him to keep his new lute well within. His father suggested that once he became well enough with his Lute, he would trust him well enough to let him go with a well blessing and a handful of coin to make his mark on the world. Now most of his beginning earnings just starting out with the stringed instrument would be spent on small amenities and personal gifts, occasionally however putting away small tips and earnings into a pouch for his future.

Finally, as the Fall of 515 came around, he had found himself proficient, and well earning enough to buy a place in Zeltiva, a happenstance place to find confidence as it was just where they had found themselves at the time. He would announce his stay and being making arrangements to work in the city. He bought a reasonably sized Cottage, and moved what little he owned into it. As his 22nd birthday came to pass, he would hug his parents as they paid their fare for another Caravan heading for Syliras, and waved them a fair travel as he remained behind for the first true time in his life. Later than some, but more traveled because of it, he would step into his new home, and play a small song happily to himself. This, would be the place which he built his own legacy upon.
