Rafael L'ai Appearance Race: Human Gender: Male Age: 14 Birthday: 1st Winter, 502 AV Birthplace: Ravok Appearance: Rafael is a fair-skinned boy with medium length brown hair that sits softly over an inquisitive brow. Though he still has a childish face, his eyes are stark with intelligence and his skin is smooth and free of the destruction of puberty. Character Concept At this point in his life, Rafi is still coming into his own. He is quick-witted and intelligent like his father was but hasn't got the confidence to put himself out in he public eye yet. His future is hanging in the balance. A good friend could make him into a hero, an enemy into a powerful but cruel man. He plans to go into business when he leaves the orphanage but has yet to set his heart on it. Character History Children are likely abandoned at the front stoop of orphanages all the time. At least, this is what Rafi's father told himself when he left the squealing bundle in front of the building (along with an extensive letter of apology and recommendation) before departing from Ravok forever. It is unclear exactly what circumstances befell the playwright and actor who fathered the boy, but what was clear were the intentions of the boy's mother to have him killed. If the letter was to be believed anyhow. What became of them is a mystery left to the void and struggling to meet the end of it brings one nowhere. What is known is that the boy's name is Rafael L'Ai. He has always been quick with his studies, and well-spoken. Kind, occasionally to a fault, and easily bullied. Lacking in confidence, many see a flicker of something in young Rafi that he does not see in himself. Only time will tell what that potential may grow. A flowing, rich blue cloak with a shining satin lining and a clasp that looks to be a fine jewelled brooch. The truth is, the brooch is fake and while the cloak itself is of sturdy construction the satin is simply heavily brushed wool with filings in the lining to give it the appearance of a lordly mantle. It is a stage prop that belonged to Rafi's father and was used to bundle the boy up before depositing him on the stoop of the orphanage.
