The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

The Silk Palace is a luxurious fabric shop, very near to the center of the Zintia. It is easily ‎accessible and proudly displayed, with an amalgamation of rich luxurious colours and ‎fabrics adorning the main window of the shop. Those walking by would have their attention ‎immediately drawn to it. The door is of a rich red mahogany and the sign above it proudly ‎exclaims it as the Silk Palace – the Finest Fabric in Kalea! Whether this claim is true or not ‎is definitely an opinion of the shopper.

Pushing open the rich door, a tinkle of a bell announces your arrival, and two shop ‎assistants will instantly rush to your side, offering you complimentary Lhavitian tea and ‎directing you to a plush armchair in the front room. The armchair is seated opposite a desk ‎and an intimidating looking chair, often occupied by Shilo Hai, a young woman who is in ‎charge of this fine establishment. It is here that you will discuss what type of fabrics you ‎wish to buy and for what purpose. The two shop assistants will twirl back and forth, going ‎into the back room, which serves both as storage and the fabric and garment making area, and returning with all manner of fine materials for you to peruse ‎through. ‎

The back room is completely off limits to anyone but Shilo and her two workers, and their ‎aim is to make you as comfortable as possible. They work by a motto, “A happy customer is a ‎paying customer” and it is entirely likely that you will not get out of that armchair the entire ‎time you are inside their shop.‎

The exception to that rule is, of course, if the customer wishes to also have their garments made by the Palace. While the shop primarily focuses on the making and selling of fabrics, they do also offer services in regards to actually making clothes. Often, customers will purchase fabrics and simply make their clothing themselves, or take the fabric to a specialty tailor; but occasionally, people will ask the Palace to do it.

To this end, there is a small area set towards the back corner of the shop. A large, ornate screen is set up sectioning the entire area off for privacy purposes. Behind the screen is a small pedestal for the customer to stand on while their measurements are taken, usually by one or both of the twins depending on how busy it is. The process is usually quite quick, and then the customer is ushered out, and can return to pick up their garments at a later date.

Shilo is an extremely good looking young woman. She is thin, tall, and ‎elegant, but extremely lovely and always willing to please. She will go out of her way to make ‎sure you are happy with your experience at the Silk Palace.

She insists upon being called ‎Shilo by all customers, though Mae and Lae always call her “Mistress Hai”. She inherited the ‎shop from her prematurely deceased father, after a rather unfortunate incident with the ‎fabric cutter, and by all accounts, has carried on his legacy – and the Silk Palace’s – ‎extremely well.

Mae and Lae Tsang are young identical twins in their late teens, and always seem to be ‎scarily in sync. They are both short, a little pudgy, and almost always smiling. They always ‎finish each other’s sentences and, to anyone watching, they look as if they are rehearsing an ‎acrobatics act when they are running to get the fabric for Mistress Hai.

They are the ones ‎who will constantly offer you the complimentary Lhavitian tea, who will direct you to the ‎armchair where you will conduct business with Shilo, and who will run in and out of the storage ‎room, always extremely eager to please.‎ They are also the ones will take your measurements; this is the only time one might see the twins apart, as if it is very busy, one will take measurements while the other will deal with customers.

Betali Sauhja
ImageName: Betali Sauhja
Race: Human
Birthdate: 470 AV
Birthplace: Riverfall
Occupation: Seamstress at the Silk Palace
Skills: Auristics - 27, Leadership - 30, Persuasion - 45, Sewing - 68, Weaving - 50
Languages: Common (Fluent)

Betali possesses a sharp tongue. She doesn't take kindly to people that she considers to be slow, or time-wasters. She does have a keen eye for colour and enjoys creating fashionable, yet long-lasting garments that can be worn often and regularly. However, if any drippy young thing comes in to the shop without really knowing what they are looking for, she will not have the patience for such a person.

Her style tends to verge towards rich colours with details that are hidden yet appear in the right lighting or under the correct scrutiny. She also enjoys creating clothing with artfully exposed sections, such as the lower back, shoulders, or sides, and she uses these exposed sections like decorations in their own right. Strangely, although well-made, the clothing she wears is usually quite plain, whereas her creations for others can often be said to be visually rather beautiful.

Betali was born in Riverfall to two Lhavitian emigrants. From her mother, she inherited a love of 'glittering Lhavit'. When she was still living in Riverfall, she fell in love and married another human man, a labourer who later was accidentally killed in a construction project. The wealthy Akalak that had commissioned the project gifted Betali a beautiful gold choker inset with 3 green gemstones as a heartfelt apology for the accident, but the woman grew to become disillusioned with Riverfall, and bitter with the life she lived there.

She worked hard and saved enough mizas to travel to Lhavit. She traveled with her son Stuart Saujha, who was born in 504 AV, and they arrived in Lhavit on the 89th Summer, 519 AV. As well as fashion, Betali is intensely interested in the magic of auristics, and hopes to gain enough favour to become a student of the Dusk Tower.
