Ismay and Issam Zenobia
Appearance
Race: Akontak
Gender: Male
Age: 47
Birthday: The 1st of Winter, 471 years after the Valterrian
Birthplace: Mura, the White Isle
Appearance: Ismay and Issam's body takes after that of his Akalak kin. Standing at a rather middling six feet, ten inches, they're naturally muscular, but more lean than bulky. A comfortable life on Mura has left the Akontak lacking scars and blemishes.
Like his Konti kin, his hair is a bright platinum-silver, his eyes being a darker variation of the same color. His hair is cut short out of ease and is often simply brushed. Gills lie on either side of his neck, inherited from his Konti heritage.
Character Concept
No man is born righteous and pure, as wholesome and beautiful as such an individual would be. Certainly not two men born together, who've lived the same lives, and are practically inseparable. Literally inseparable, in fact, having been born within the same mortal shell.
As much as they would, in unison, claim to be, neither Ismay nor Issam is a righteous, pure being. Healers are said to be some of the most selfless, the most beautiful, the most righteous people alive, yet the two couldn't be any farther from that shaky truth.
Like any practitioner of medicine and loyal follower of Rak'keli, they will readily heal any that require their attention. But the actions are rarely, if ever, inspired by the simple desire to see mortal life thrive. No, just as any promiscuous hussy would lay with a person of power for profit and or advancement, Ismay and Issam use their medical skills and knowledge for their own personal gain.
Which isn't to say that they weren't once selfless and sincere in their quest to lend a healing hand to those in need, willing to spread themselves thin for others. But the pressures exerted by their family and kin were in fact the twin's undoing, who had already been baffled and uncertain of their unusual identity. They became lost in their attempt to please the overwhelming demands of others and instead turned into themselves, tired and angry of being unable to live a life unfettered by the expectations of others.
For them, true righteousness and selflessness is a distant dream, an even further goal, and a seemingly unobtainable mindset as they spiral deeper into the traps of the selfish and cruel.
Character History
Isriti Zenobia was once a strong, proud warrior of Riverfall. His sword was worn with battle and his body was scarred with triumph. He could be called a paragon of the Akalak race, and his twin soul, Israit, one of the smartest and most strategic. They were known throughout Riverfall and rose quickly in the army.
But as any origin story would have it, tragedy struck when he was afflicted with a disease that lay waste to his once powerful physique. Within a season, he was a veritable shell of his former self, too proud and too stupid to seek treatment until far later. Even then, his toxic masculinity forced him to leave for Mura of the White Isle, preferring to recover among strangers instead of those who looked up to him. The journey, however, left him nearing death when he arrived.
Unfortunately yet justly unable to be cured of the powerfully debilitating disease, the healers of Mura were only able to help him recover enough to live seasons more and even, somehow, sire a child before passing.
And so Ismay and Issam grew up fatherless, with neither guidance nor story of his unknown parent.
Whatever the case may be, the Akontak thrived at their appointed role. General healing came as naturally to them as breathing underwater did. Of course, though they were always proud of their abilities, many who watched them felt as if they could do more, as if the boys weren't using their divinely mixed blood to its fullest potential.
So they were pushed. Pushed by their mother, by their aunts and grandmother and, hell, even by their friends and the random Akalak men that had made Mura their home. While their mother taught them what magics she knew and some of the many healers of Mura taught them how to preserve life, the few men who forced their way into the boys' life wanted nothing more than to turn the rare child into a warrior of steel and magic.
As any young person straddled with the expectations of many would do, they left. For freedom, for change, out of spite... Their reasons could fill a book, but the only thing they wanted to find was somewhere new somewhere they could do what they wanted.
Those they traveled with spoke briefly of the city of Sunberth, where the denizens of the town lived the most free of anywhere. And though they, for whatever odd reason, didn't reveal exactly what those citizens did with their freedom, Ismay and Issam both arrived in the City of Anarchy with great things and hope in mind.....
