The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

Fish For Supper

3 Spring 519

Drizzle lazily drifted down from the grey, grey sky. It fell past a circling hawk, searching for prey. Past a flock of swifts flying with safety in numbers past the mountain cliffs. It fell onto rustic rooftops where larger droplets formed and rolled down languidly. It settled on the heads of complacent okomo, and turned spider webs into glistening, architectural nets. It soaked through the clothes of Lhavitians as they went about their daily routine, turning pink to red, white to grey, and hair into sopping sponges.

It also fell on Cassiea, who was taking a break from her job to do a spot of shopping. The rain treated her as equally as everything and everyone else, so she was feeling a little miserable and cold and damp, most of all. Yes it was pretty, and pleasant, but not when you were stuck in it without proper cover. Living on a mountain also meant that, no matter how built up the area was, the elements tended to feel rather too close for comfort.

Nevertheless, with the hood of her soaking wet woollen cloak up (weighing quite a lot more than usual with the amount of water it had soaked up), Cass had a few things in mind to buy, and now that she was ready at the shops, it would be good to duck inside and get into the dry.

The first thing she was looking for was a fishing line and bait. Meat was always expensive, and she knew she wasn't a hunter, so she couldn't catch her own. The sport of fishing appealed to her, because lazily the fish came to her, rather than the other way around. She was also quite fond of fish meat, especially cooked in butter and herbs like her mother used to do for a treat.
With the damp weather, she fancied a bit of comfort food, but was motivated just enough to want to prepare it herself.

She searched out an appropriate stall, and was soon in luck. After a little idle walking, she spotted a sturdy looking stall with outdoor equipment, and wandered closer. The man at the stall gave her a cheery smile,
but he was in the middle of a conversation with a fair-haired man about her own age, so she didn't interrupt.

Instead, she started picking up items here and there, a small knapsack, a leather belt, a bundle of fishing net smelling strongly of brine. She kept catching small snippets of conversation, discussion about someone's aunt, a missing something-or-other, last night's card game.

She was nosy by nature and occasionally snooped little glances at the two, the blonde-haired man especially, because he was attractive, and Cassiea liked his slightly feral grin. However, she'd soon found a fishing pole in her price range. It was a decently sized rod, with a bit of wear and tear, but otherwise perfectly servicable.
