Siv Crestdancer


Appearance

Race: Svefra

Birthday: 21st, Summer, 500.
Birthplace: Her mother's Palivar, while anchored south of Falyndar.

Appearance:
The Svefra stands proud from her 6’2 tall, slender figure. Despite having crossed into womanhood it seems her body still clings to the gangly looks of her teenage years; lanky and long of limbs, as if she had grown a lot in a short period of time, her silhouette is softened only by a small round feminine chest and budding hips.
A life at sea, in and above the waves, has graced her body with a lean strength, the power to swim for hours and sail for days, under cold rain or scorching sun. It has however left marks upon her skin, from the scars running along her arms, legs, face, to her tan complexion.
Dirty blonde hair streaked with sun-bleached strands falls in an unkempt mass around a triangular face, with a small mouth almost always set in a grin. The characteristic Svefra eyes are hard to miss, Siv’s pair a turquoise blue sparkling with playful mischief from under her messy locks.

The girl pays little to no attention to her looks and has no interest in make-up or perfume, but she does wears an array of rings and studs in her pierced ears.
Her clothes are a happy mix of pieces given to her along her life, bought or taken from various places with different cultures, which results in a ragtag look that has been described as ‘cosmopolitan’, ‘inventive’, ‘weird, and outright ‘scruffy’.



Character Concept

Siv, loyal to Svefra reputation, is a footloose creature who will take on whatever life throws at her with a grin on her face and preferably a drink in her hand. She lives in and for the moment, knowing that tomorrow might never come and that every day should be enjoyed as best as she can. Having never faced true hardship (until her recent crash landing in Sunberth), Siv is a rather optimistic, happy-go-lucky kind of girl who is convinced she can take care of herself.

This overconfidence mixed with a genuine ignorance of the ways of the world can certainly cause her to get into some trouble, as she is not aware of - and attaches very little importance to- most social codes of conduct in non-Svefra society.

She respects and follows the Svefra laws and traditions and worships the Sea King first and foremost, although she is not against sending her prayers to another deity if the need arises.



Character History

Siv had the immense luck to have been born into the Crestdancer pod, one famous for their cheerful and relaxed approach to life even among Svefras. She grew up surrounded by a large and supportive family, roaming the waters between the southern Suvan Sea, the Faleyk Gulf and the coastal areas south of Eyktol and Falyndar. Always in movement, the Crestdancer pod lived off fishing, scavenging, bartering and celebrating, stopping on deserted beaches when the fancy took them and meeting with other pods to have a reason to party together whenever possible.

Siv grew from a loud and turbulent child into a bold and confident young woman with the help of her numerous aunts and the influence of her many cousins. The Crestwater children spent a large part of their time playing with the pod’s companions, a group of white-beaked dolphins, and competing in swimming contests. Siv knew how to swim before she could walk and learned how to sail right after that. At age 15, the girl got the Crestdancer family tattoo inked on the back of her left calf.

In the early Spring of 519, the Crestdancer were travelling towards Zeltiva to join a gathering of large pods from the outer Oceans, but a storm hit unexpectedly just before they could find shelter in Matthew's Bay. Despite her best attempt to keep control of her ship, Siv's casinor got caught in the furious winds. Everything on and above deck was badly damaged and Siv was adrift for a few days during which she floated further north. She arrived at Sunberth docks on a calm morning after some serious rowing efforts and is hoping to find a shipwright competent enough to fix her casino for her, so that she can travel back to the rest of her pod near Zeltiva.

Siv’s Oceanus mark swirls and flows around her limbs, alive as the ocean itself. Most often it is visible on either shoulder, sometimes covering the entire arm to the wrist. Other times the mark crosses over her chest or rolls down her hips to her thighs; it is unpredictable just like the sea it represents. It colours her skin with shades of sea-green, foam white, sapphire and deep ocean blue and its currents change when touched. She wears it proudly, often ensuring that the skin that bears it remains exposed to the sight.

Marked individuals can first and foremost spot Otani readily. Otani will recognize them and often seek them out to play and communicate. Individuals with one Laviku mark can also drink salt water and have the mark automatically convert it to fresh water for ocean survival. Individuals know the direction of the sea if they are on land and how far away it is (in aprox miles). They also immediately recognize where progression tide is, meaning if it is incoming or outgoing or in transition between.

Housing

Location: Sunberth's docks

House: Casinor named Tempest Call in poor state after weathering an unexpected storm. It has been her home for the last three years, gifted to her from an elder cousin.
Her living quarters are cramped but cosy, with a personal berth and chest, a small portable stove and foldable table and chair.

A small, personal ship no longer than 30 feet with a single cabin. More than twice the size of the average rowboat, this ship is capable of traversing inland seas and coastal areas though it is unequipped to travel on the open ocean. The most common personal ship found among the Svefra. These ships are often found employing heavy harpoons for defense. Much of the free space on the ship has been converted into living quarters thus cargo is limited to 500 lbs. While it may carry a number of passengers, these boats are designed for a single person spending extended periods at sea. Crew: 1, Passengers: 5
