Appearance: Rayana's general appearance could be described as plain. Thick straight chestnut hair falls past her shoulders but is usually pulled back in a half ponytail or braid. She lacks any sort of obvious beauty that would draw a person's eye. That being the case her singular distinct feature is often overlooked. Her hazel-green eyes are the key to her true kelvic nature.
She is fairly average in height at about 5' 6" though she has the sinewy build of an individual that is no stranger to physical labor.
Her wolf form is also fairly standard. Her coat is predominantly brown, mottled with grays and tipped with black here and there. As with her human form her distinguishing feature are her eyes greenish mostly but speckled with browns and golds. At 70 lbs she also falls into the average category for her species size.
Character History
Rayana's mother Leilani was a Kelvic slave, having been kept, as a pet essentially by a wealthy family in Syliras. Leilani was bonded to the family's youngest son Arthur. When the boy became of age the bond became romantic. Inevitably Leilani became pregnant.
At first they kept it secret, as they feared this romantic bond, and the child would not be accepted. When this was no longer possible they plotted to run away together. With what possessions they could gather, they booked passage on a ship with no specific destination in mind, only dreams of adventure and freedom.
Reality was much more cruel than that of course. During their journey Arthur became ill. By the time they reached Zeltiva he was horrendously sick and they had no money or valuables to trade for treatment. However, they were found and taken in by an old lone fisherman named Sven. But Arthur was beyond saving. He died within a week of their arrival.
Leilani was devastated by the loss of her bondmate, and the stress forced her into an early and difficult labor. Rayana was born, but her mother died in the effort. Sven kept her and raised her as his own.
It quickly became clear that Rayana was no ordinary child as she grew quickly and fiercely. She bonded to Sven immediately, though it was a familial bond. She took interest in hunting and fishing and learned quickly, both because of her natural wolf instincts and Sven's thorough lessons.
He did try to encourage her to further her learning at a proper school but she was never interested in learning anything beyond what Sven could teach her. Beyond her survival skills he did his best to teach her to communicate, read, write and just generally blend in with humans.
She grew strong and smart despite lack of formal education. Eventually the arrangement became as mush Rayana taking care of Sven in his old age as it was Sven taking care of and raising her.
In the winter of 519 Sven came down with what would be best described as pneumonia. He did not recover. Though this loss was devastating for Rayana, she has endured. She remains a resident of the humble cottage she was raised in.
Character Concept
Rayana is a humble young girl, essentially doing the best with what she has been given in her life. She is a survivor, living mostly off her hunting and fishing skills both natural, and learned from her mentor and first bondmate Sven.
At this point in her life she seems sad and lost. She is torn between the loss of her former bond and her base instinct to form another. This confliction keeps her distant from others and may make her general temperament seem cold and brooding.
Beyond that she has not yet had enough time to develop her own distinct personality traits.
