Age: 22
Birthday: 57, Spring, 497 AV
Birthplace: Lhavit

Appearance

Aala is a thin and lean woman that stands at 5’1” and weighing 100 lbs. Those that look at her are almost reminded of a cat with high cheekbones, thin nose, and the slender chin of a heart-shaped face. Her deep-set eyes bare a resemblance to the brilliant blue of a cut Ziron stone with silver threaded throughout. They are slightly upturned and the lids lined with kohl. Her skin is fair and pale, her hair is crow feather black with a natural wave that seems to shimmer with a slight blue hue. Her mouth is full, her lower lip slightly fuller than the upper and sometimes is painted a deep red. Three black dots rest on her cheekbone below her right eye, a symbol to remind her of a message. The clothes she wears are simple her dress is a deep midnight blue with dark gray trims, a wrist knife sewn in her left sleeve. The hem of her dress reaches the ankles of black sturdy boots that go along with her black cloak that she wears clasped on her shoulder, the hood may or not be pulled up, hiding her long locks.

Character Concept

Aala Cove is a determined and passionate woman who strives to live life to what she considers the fullest. In order to do so, she loves to organize her day. For her to have a perfect day she must have incorporated three areas of her life. The first is to socialize and have fun with those around her. Although her favorite part of socializing is to motivate and encourage those around her to be who they really want to be.

The second is to learn and enhance her skills and abilities in one way or another. Whether it would be reading or practicing those abilities even the slight amount of energy she would put towards this area she would be happy; however, when she starts those tasks, she gets caught up in it rather easily and usually ends up spending the whole day with it. The subjects that she is the most passionate about is herbalism, medicine, philtering and poisons.

The third is leisure, this area she sections off a part of her day to just do as she wishes, something that is out of ordinary.

There is more to Aala than her passions, however. She is quite religious and has a very open and well-rounded state of mind. She sees that all cannot be without one, and each being in this world has its place and purpose. She loves to see the good in people, and bring out the spark that is in each heart. She feels closest to Rak’keli, then Dira then Eyris; although, she holds close bonds to all other deities.

She is a very patient and compassionate woman, sharing her mentality of helping all she can to those who need it, regardless of who they are with her Grandmother. She is not troubled by death; she knows that all must die at some point to start the cycle new once again. Although she is protective of the dead and honors them right up until Goddess Dira takes their souls.

Aala has many quirks, a good lot of them including food, scents, touch, and expression. She loves food, and if she manages to get her hands on some food that she is craving, she will do a little happy dance. On another note is that if she is hungry, she is very quiet and is much easier to annoy. If one manages to annoy her in this time, the poor mumper will get an icy glare that may metaphorically chill them to the bone. She adores flowers and will potentially stop once in a while to smell flowers if she spots them. If someone passes with flowers, she is not shy to stop them, compliment the flowers and ask to smell them, striking up a nice bit a small chat in the middle of the road. Her hands tend to gravitate towards soft things, she is able to control this, but if she’s able to run her fingers through something that looks soft, she will do so. She is very expressive and open, allowing those around her to feel much more comfortable and even lighter. The only time when she does put on a more serious face is when she is very focused on a task. Often enough when people see her focused on a task, they tend to think some time is terribly wrong, when usually there is naught wrong at all. When something is truly upsetting her in a serious way, she becomes withdrawn and spends most of her time in her quarters under the pretext of studying.

Character History

Aala Cove is a young woman born as an only child in Lhavit. Her mother, Valencia, is a seamstress and merchant. Her father, Evean, is a member of the Shinya in service to Dira to help the guardsmen with the dead. Her grandmother, Rostanee, was a healer, herbalist and glyph mage. Her late Grandfather was a florist, but he also trained in shielding and taught Aala some shielding before he passed when she was 12. Her childhood was spent learning how to sew and embroider with her mother, learning about all the medicinal herbs and how to prepare them from her grandmother and learning the magic shielding from her Grandfather. The earliest memory she has is sitting on a stool next to her grandmother's workbench, listening to her grandmother's soft voice crackling as she told her of a story of one of her healings, listening to which herbs she used, watching as her grandmother made a preparation of herbal medicine and pray to her goddess Rak’keli. She would frequently go on walks with her grandmother, helping her to harvest local medicinal herbs and learning when to, where to and how to harvest the herbs, it was also from her grandmother that she learned some runes for gylphing. Sometimes her grandmother's patients stayed with the family while they were healing. The most notable one to Aala was a native of Sultros, who taught her a slight bit of the language Isur while he stayed.

Her family is loyal to all Gods and Goddesses as they honor all of them. Her family shares a common belief that there must be two sides to the same coin as one side cannot be without the other. However, regardless of that, each member has a divine being of whom they feel closest to, worship and work for. Her mother is close to Eyris, her father closest to Dira and her Grandmother closest to Rak’keli. It is due to this that Aala works closely with all three when each time is appropriate and shares traits with all of them.

In the year 513 AV when she was sixteen, her grandmother passed from old age. By her bedside Aala stayed next to her, listening as her grandmother prayed and talked to Rak’keli. In the night she passed with a smile upon her face. After she saw her Grandmother, she thanked Rak’keli for taking good care of her and prayed to Dira before her father entered.

Up until the present, every day at dawn Aala would wake and offer a gift of appreciation and pray to her three closest goddesses. In the early morn, her friends gather to have breakfast. In the day she would either study herbs, medicine, poisons, and runes from her grandmother’s journal every other day or help her mother with embroidery and clothes to sell in night markets in the other days. At night she would help her mother sell wares, which is also where she managed to pick up the Nari language due to the people of Inartan particularly liking her mother's shop. On other nights she would leisurely explore the nightlife with friends.

She has now moved into her own apartment in Lhavit, determined to take up the duties of her late grandmother she began to study herbalism with more vigor than ever. Of course, to help her become more comfortable in her new home she bought a few things. To honor the Goddess’ and Gods she started to set up her own little altar in her apartment, although for now, it consists of only a sheet of linen and three crystals. She also got herself a young, sleek black kitten that has blue and green eyes to keep her company. Now as the days go by and she knows a great deal about the herbs, their uses and how to harvest them she sets her sights on learning the more difficult productions of herbal medicine as well as honing her magic. Her current goal: getting a job at the Catholicon.
