While Sylira is by far the most civilized region of Mizahar, countless surprises and encounters await the traveler in its rural wilderness. Called the Wildlands, Syliran's wilderness is comprised of gradual rolling hills in the south that become deep wilderness in the north. Ruins abound throughout the wildlands, and only the well-marked roads are safe.

Mark the territory; this was the task Kelski had instructed the Kelvic to do. However, Alexander Slade had one dilemma; where in the world would he start? Grey eyes staring intently at the dense wilderness, the black jaguar had shifted into his animal form even earlier, barely before the sun had woken up. He had taken a minute to watch the sky grow pale with weak morning light before circling the pavilion many times. Soon enough, the black feline had made up his mind. He left his clothing folded neatly on top of his bed before setting off, determined to finish his job.

He began with the tree closest to the site. Approaching it, Alexander hiked up on his two hind legs and stretched upwards, unsheathing his gigantic claws. His muscles quivered as he dragged the hook-like weapons downwards. Slivers of wood curled as they were sliced right from the trunk, falling into a pile at the roots. One more heave gave the jaguar satisfaction before he dropped down and admired his work. Deep gashes revealed themselves to humans and for animals, the fresh sap which oozed out was mixed with the scent of a fierce and undoubtedly territorial male jaguar. Any creature would be foolish to trespass beyond the point Alex had made but there was still more land to cover.

Alexander had an internal map laid out in his mind. At first, he would cut out the turf which hugged the Pavillion before he would set out further to create an even thicker perimeter mark. If an animal ignored his first warning deeper in the woods, they would soon be overwhelmed with Alexander's scent and most definitely turn back. It would take a lot of hard labor and energy but the plan was solid. The jaguar's body moved as one collective shadow, weaving around towering trees on quiet paws. He would skip a few before marking another one either with his claws or pungent urine. When he did this, he would turn and his tail would go erect before the warning was splattered onto the bark.

Even though his muscles became sore, instinct quickly took over in the Kelvic's mind. Soon enough, he became machine-like, head dipped below his shoulder and jaws parted as he lumbered through the shallow part of the forest, still visible from the Pavillion. It was no longer something Kelski simply 'asked' him to do. It became a flame that burned inside of his chest, something he had to finish or else he wouldn't feel right about himself. It was mandatory that every mammal, reptile, bird, and amphibian knew this was his land and he would defend it through bloodshed.

Small wood chips became stuck to the jaguar's claw. After pushing through a thicket of thorns which stuck into his pelt, he settled down on his haunches and brought his paw to his face. Carefully, he used his rough, barbed tongue to dislodge the uncomfortable chunks. After he groomed, he swung his head over his broad shoulders, admiring all of the trees he had shredded up or sprayed with his scent. By that time, the sun had already begun its journey higher into the sky, basking the land in warmth. Underneath a thick, black coat it quickly became muggy. Still, he would press onwards. Only a few more trees around the Pavillion to go before he could create a larger, distant ring of marks.

[Empyreal Demesne] Early Bird's Prowl

Soon enough, most of the trees surrounding the Pavillion were scratched up or soaked in big-cat urine. Alexander was excited to start venturing outwards, exploring the wilderness and its surroundings all by himself. He enjoyed Kelski and all the company but due to personal preference and instinct, the jaguar needed a breather every once and awhile. This was the perfect opportunity; the weather was nothing if not pleasant. Of course, it was a little too warm for the Kelvic but it needed to be. If it were raining or cold, even, his scent markers would certainly not pack as much of a punch.

Alexander headed towards the beach. It reminded him of all the days he spent on the shore back in Sunberth. Though, here, he hardly needed to worry about being taken by slavers or robbed. A constricting pang of hatred blossomed itself inside the jaguar's chest. The day he was robbed was no doubt infruriating. To have every belonging he was given, earned, or worked for simply ripped from him left the male in devastation. A few of his items had been stolen here and there but never on a scale so large and blatant.

It was all the more reason to build himself back up in Zeltiva. Make it to where thieves would much rather do anything but rob from Alexander Slade again. This circulated in the Kelvic's mind as he lumbered down the beach, leaving massive paw prints behind him. His black pelt speckled with white flecks of sand as a breeze gently brushed against him. He made his way towards the water, only to where he could feel it lap against his paws. He continued his stroll, grey eyes steadily ahead as he searched for a landmark he could start on.

After what felt like an eternity of walking, sloshing through the cooling water and watching small schools of fish scatter, that very landmark appeared. It was an outcrop of rocks overhanging the water by only a little. A few scraggly bushes resided on it. Alexander knew this was as good as it would most likely get. To reach the top of the cliff-like structure, he would need to climb and maneuver himself around large rocks. Jaguars, by nature, were much better swimmers than climbers but this didn't steer the Kelvic away. He approached the foot of the outcrop and stared upwards, attempting to create a map in his mind.

Alexander bunched his muscles up before springing up into the air. He landed on top of a large, flat rock. It was warm underneath his padded paws. Quickly, he searched his next safe step. He leaped to a smaller rock diagonal from him. To his dismay, it began to crumble from its spot, slipping right from beneath his limbs. In an act of desperation, he launched himself forward and caught himself on the side of another one. Half hanging off, Alexander jerked his head as his two back legs scrambled wildly for a grip. His claws were anchored into the solid surface but were giving out fast until he finally pushed himself upwards with a heave. The jaguar shook his pelt before looking back down. A tumble from the height he was at wouldn't be good. Therefore, he carefully planned every move as he continued to scale. Each time a rock came loose, he gave more thought to where he was going to land. He slipped up a few more, each time his heart would freeze within his chest but eventually, he made it to the top. By then, he was exhausted.

The view made it all worth it. The jaguar carefully peered over the edge at the crashing waves below. It sent sprays of ocean water his way, sprinkling his fur and making his whiskers twitch. Alexander settled down on his haunches, lifting a paw to his face and took the moment to groom himself. He was polished in dirt after the fretful climbing experience but a few licks with his rough tongue did the job. After he regained his strength, the jungle cat marked the shrubs and plant life scattered loosely about. Climbing down, he found, was much easier. Seeing as that time around, he knew which platform was sturdy and which would give him trouble. After a few minutes, his paws hit the sand again and he was off, rounding back towards the Pavillion where he would cut into the forest and mark some outermost trees.
