The Courtyard Cantina

Much like the fountain, the majority of the Courtyard Cantina is hidden behind a simple facade. Facing the two gorgeous archways are two iron gates that lead into a hallway. These gates are almost never closed since the Cantina is open day and night. All along the hallway are more arches and pillars, opening into a courtyard full of heavy wooden chairs and tables, with a kitchen in the back.

The Cantina has no roof - instead, sheets of linen stretch across the ceiling providing shade. These are thick enough to provide shade and protection from the sun, but still thin enough that light is let through. At night, they're rolled back and tied up to provide a view of the stars.

Each table is decorated with a fancy woven cloth, set for two which can be expanded to four or more depending on the size of the table, and decorated with exotic flowering potted plants.

The smell of roasting meat and vegetables wafts all the way into the Fountain Square, most often drawing in customers from the smell alone. The seating is relaxed, and patrons choose their own tables and seating, moving chairs and tables as they see fit for their whole party to sit.

The fare is usually light, with fish and fatty meat mixed with vinegar or citrus-based sauces and plenty of fruits and vegetables. The Cantina is most famous for its fish tacos, made with fresh fried fish, avocado, and lemon juice, along with anything new that could be found at the market that morning. Their fresh fruit smoothies are also very popular, but they will cook nearly anything for you if you bring in the ingredients.

Relaxing is encouraged and patrons are never asked to leave even if they've long finished their meals. Even those coming in to sit down in the shade and enjoy tea are not frowned upon. Instead, patronage is often encouraged regardless of coin or time spent in The Courtyard Cantina.

Carina spent much of her life wandering, and more importantly, cooking. She has been to nearly every city in Mizahar and has learned any and every recipe that someone was willing to show her. As a result, she can match cuisine from anyone's home city as long as she has the right ingredients, and if she doesn't, you can bring them in. She is especially fond of learning new recipes, and she will give cooking lessons in exchange for foods she's never heard of.

A young Kelvic Mourning Dove, Mela is Carina's bondmate. Creative in both cooking and storytelling, she is the one who takes the orders and keeps track of newly seated patrons. When the Cantina slows down, she's often found telling stories or singing to whoever will listen. Those that take the time will find her entertainment to be quite a treat, and she's learned a number folktales and myths from many cultures and from patrons who have come before.

A Note On Food Vendors. The Courtyard Cantina's prices are reasonable, the food fresh, and the customer service excellent. The menu may change however due to fresh food availability.

You don't need to deduct the cost of food from any of the restaurants or vendors in The Outpost from your ledger due to the fact that food purchases such as this are covered under seasonal expenses.

However, if you are utilizing food locations like The Courtyard Cantina and other places in The Outpost, make sure your seasonal expenses reflect that via claiming Common or higher living status.
