Saule is taller than average with sandy-blond hair in human form. He’s slender, with handsome but somewhat feminine features. If there was a more refined word for ‘twink’, he’d use it to describe his daytime body.
With Leth’s reign, Saule appears serene. His gentle yet penetrating violet eyes usually remain closed in meditation and prayer. With the warm embrace of summer, Ethaefal Saule has jet-black hair. The characteristic ornamental horns, which are crown-like and simple, become a humble forest with all shades of green.
Character Concept
Saule has a tendency to swing back and forth between spells of intense devotion and self-destructive episodes of confusion and volatility, reflective of the more immediate personality shift that happens with the transition between his mortal seeming and Ethaefal forms. He has been teetering on the edge of madness since his fall.
At the core of his being is a profound yearning for transcendence and spiritual illumination. However, this is often obstructed by self-defeating behaviours and the ever-present sense of shame that has simmered in his psyche since his fall from Leth’s divine abode. However, his devotion to Leth remains strong. He doesn't understand why he was sent back, or if there even is a why - his love for his god, though, has not been embittered by any perceived betrayals.
In his human form, it is difficult for him to articulate his emotions, even though he feels them intensely. His emotional reactions are usually delayed compared to others. He has a tendency to numb, be it with mind-altering substances, food, or risky behaviours. Saule also dissociates in times of extreme internal strife, almost to the point of having an out-of-body experience. Normally, though, he describes his emotions in the same way a disinterested third party would describe a stranger. Beyond his immoderation, Saule is often afraid of how he truly feels. To avoid vulnerability, he can be confrontational and assertive, manipulative and machiavellian, lost in his own psychological drama… However, he can also be compassionate towards the sincere suffering of others, and might even 'stick his neck out' for a complete stranger. On one hand this is due to a lack of concern for his own well-being; on the other, he wants to feel useful and helpful to the world around him. Maybe it's just naïveté.
Remaining calm and stable is a day-by-day effort for Saule. With Leth’s ascent, however, a wave of clarity and mental quietude settles his neurotic thoughts. With the moon in the sky, Saule becomes contemplative and prayerful.
Saule is also inquisitive, with an innocent, child-like curiosity about the natural world and the divine. Sometimes he comes off as an uppity provocateur, but it’s just a self-defense mechanism.
He derives great inspiration from the story of his patron deity, and tries to see his own efforts to transform his dark side as a form of worship. In the process, Saule has developed some interest in the goddess Nikali, though his heart ultimately belongs to Leth.

The fall from Leth’s abode was not taken well. Saule experienced heart-wrenching grief, confusion, dissociation, and even insanity for the first few months while in mortal form, while being overwhelmed with loss, yearning, and dépaysement as an Ethaefal. He slipped from the realm of the divine in Storm Bay, near Wind Reach, where he spent the first few years of his newly earthbound life.
After this initial traumatic shock, he began to perform severe austerities and fanatic devotions to re-attain Leth’s abode, with no success. Frustrated, he began to develop a dependency on mind-altering herbs. During this time he met a Vantha lover hiding from persecution, who taught him some basic Vani and rudimentary hypnotism. After the two suffered an emotional fall-out, Saule left Wind Reach for Lhavit, wracked with shame and regret, where he became a prostitute and is currently focused on meditation, devotion, education, and on integrating his dark side and self-defeating behaviours.
His last mortal male form was human. Saule afterwards had several female lives devoted to Leth before being exalted to His divine realm.
