Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Finally winter was over, now it was time for sunny and rainy spring. The stones were wet and shining as the water reflected the sunlight, bouncing off the cold stones. Karl was paying little attention to it though, it was drizzling but not enough to keep him from training. Even more so, after his spar with Sulavik he got accustomed to training and sparring without the upper part of his robe on.
He was training on a large square of Riverfall, not paying attention to his surroundings at all. He stood in fighting pose, with slightly bend knees and his arms almost completely stretched in front of him. One arm was further stretched than the other. His hands seemed to grab on a thick, invisible branch as they were open but with curled fingers. There he stood for a moment before starting to move swiftly and accurately.
He practiced his frontal 360° degree defence, deflecting incoming, invisible blows from all angles in front of him. After a while of deflecting and parrying the attacks he started practicing on retalliating after a deflection or parry. He practiced retalliating with his elbows, fists, backhands, knees and shinkicks.
Dripping with water and sweat he rested for a bit, seating himself on the stone square, sweat dripping from his tanned face and upperbody. |

Since it was the first day of spring, Jannah's favorite time, she went for a walk, for it had been too early to look for some company in the Tavern. She wasn't wearing anything special, just her usual black dress and the boots. Her hair was loose, joining the wind in their playful game. It has truly been a while since the weather was that pleasant. Somehow it reminded her of the good old times she had with her father. A sweet, yet bitter memory. For he had no longer been there.
The air was lighter, slowly brining the smile to Jannah's face, for no particular reason.
Soon enough she came to regret not dressing a bit more seductively. She noticed a man (and a damn attractive one) sitting on a stone square, all sweaty and breathless, with his head between his knees, catching some air and calming the muscles down. For a moment there her eyes assumed some kind of a shine, as she was hesitating whether to approach the stranger or not. The shine had already decided, though.
"Beautiful day, isn't it so?"
She spoke to the man, diverting her look to the other side, acting all uninterested and relaxed, probably fooling just herself. |
