A Zith male of 12 years obsessed with gems of any kind, born the 32nd of Fall, 499 AV,
Tarnish is a prime example of why Zith's are hated. His attacks are meant to either disarm so that he may capture his enemy, or kill. Although he looks mature, his mind is drastically young and primitive, captured easily by anything that catches his attention and examined until it's considered useless. Tarnish is prone to fits of anger, yet seldom hurts his fellow Zith family; rather, in his rage, he harms himself. These wounds aren't of self-hate, as he's likely not capable of such a thing-- they're just his impulsive way to fulfill the need to inflict harm when he can't attack another.

Physical

If Tarnish were to ever attempt to conceal himself in a human crowd by using his strong, leathery black wings as a cloak, he would fail miserably. The thin coat of fur that grows along his entire body is a dark black that would never pass as simply unshaved body hair. Thicker along his knees, elbows, and lightly along his shoulders, lower back, and nose are strands of bright, crimson red that almost appears to be blood. Even if the Zith was able to hide his vibrant fur well enough, the strikingly exotic features of his face would give him away; high cheekbones, almond eyes accompanied by irises the deepest and darkest shade of red.

His black hair falls loose to his upper back, it's tangled curls showing thin strands of dark red when the rare chance arises that they're exposed to bright enough light. Tarnish stands slightly taller than the average human male at 6"0, his weight a healthy 140 despite his voracious appetite. This is thanks to the amount of exercise he gets because of greed-induced fights and restlessness.

Tarnish dons his armor only when he's intent on finding a fight or a slave, and his 6 feet of spiked chain always dangles from his belt unless he's safely with family. When not wearing armor, the Zith usually wears a loin cloth and his belt or nothing at all.

Concept

Tarnish is a man that's driven by indulging in his own desires, and whether that leads to rape, stealing, killing, or all three combined, he doesn't care. Consequence is a term that the Zith doesn't know nor understand, and his goals are short-sighted, never long-term. In fact, to others, his mind may seem incapable of thinking towards the future and planning.

The one thing that doesn't change on a whim is Tarnish's fascination with gemstones. He covets them as if they're his children, and if one were to offer him a type of gem he didn't possess yet in exchange for mating rights, he would accept defeat. Killing is often a result of this fascination, the Zith going to the extent of murdering another just for the jewelry they own. The miza value of the gems aren't of importance to Tarnish, as to him they're the most valuable things in all of Mizahar.

History

Tarnish was born during the Fall of 499 AV along with his twin brother Mutilate, raised in a small, less civilized colony where doing anything other than surviving was out of the norm. The short childhood he had was spent hunting, eating, and sleeping. Although very protective of his mother, he was never extremely close to her, and at 11 simply didn't return home one day while hunting; whether Tarnish traveled too far and became lazy or wished to find his own home, he isn't even sure of.

There haven't been many significant moments in Tarnish's twelve years, and any memories that may have been important to him at once tend to be forgotten easily. The only thing that hasn't easily escaped Tarnish's mind is his fascination with crystals and gems-- however, how this came to happen he doesn't remember. The only hint he has is the jeweled belt he's almost always wearing, and while Tarnish believes it's the most valuable belt in the world, it's rubies are actually fake. Whether or not it was given to him or stolen is unclear.
