Celia Vespere Basic Information Race: Mixed Blood - Ethaefal and Human Birthday & Age : 78th of Spring, 488 AV (23 yrs. old) Gender: Female Physical Description With the godlike magnificence of her father, Celia Vespere is tall and slender, standing at about 5’ 10”. She has smooth, light brown skin, hazel eyes, and her mother's dark hair, cut short to symbolize independence from her father. She does not bear the horns of her heritage, nor does her hair change color; Celia takes no abilities from her Ethaefal father, but his wisdom. She has a tattoo of the sun enclosed in a much larger crescent moon on her ankles and right shoulder blade. Character History It could be said the marriage was happy enough. The man and wife loosely regarded one another with respect, never living their lives on love, but admiration. And that was a treasure enough for them. Cast into life together in the wake of the Valterrian, the great cataclysm, the two very different creatures learned to survive together, the strength of their bond keeping them alive. They traveled tirelessly across many lands, Elise, the lovely and mild-mannered Human, using her gift of sensibility to find food and stable resting places, and Zeru, the wise and spritual Ethaefal, using his gifts, including aging touch, to keep them out of harm’s way. Eventually they settled on the Kalea region’s mighty city of Lhavit. The magical, luminescent place was attractive to them; shortly after, they mated, and gave birth to a beautiful tawny-brown-skinned child. They called her Celia Vespere. But unbeknownst to Zeru, Elise had fallen strangely ill some weeks before she was expected to deliver. Being the headstrong woman that she was, she refused to tell Zeru, and allowed her delicate body to weaken, only more so from childbirth. Only after little Celia was born did Zeru notice his wife’s face had grown very tired, but he seemed to suspect it was just a side effect of the birth...so he said nothing for a little while. Months went by with Elise hanging by a very delicate thread, wheezing and moaning in agony unlike she ever had before in secret. He couldn’t bear her misery any longer, so one night, with one fatal touch from Zeru’s skilled hands, he aged her weak and otherwise unaffected body, until Elise exhaled her final breath. Celia was just a baby. He decided to tell his daughter when she grew to be 17, and though Celia told her father she would forgive him, she found herself with a deep-set resentment toward him, cutting off her long, beauteous locks in quiet rebellion. Now 23, Celia lives and wanders on her own in the city of Lhavit. She hasn’t let her hair grow since. Character Concept Only in memory of her Human mother’s respect for her father and his spiritual deity does Celia worship Leth, god of the moon, change, reflection, and thought. Though generally calm and grounded, Celia has a bit of her mother’s headstrong personality. She may exhibit defiance if her beliefs are tested, but she can be compassionate as well, and her strength and wisdom outweigh even the worst of her character. It only takes a person to allow his or herself to understand this prevailing part of Celia. She has no taste, however, for melodrama, and no tolerance for betrayal; she likes to feel in control of at least herself. She will listen, but she may criticize; she might judge, but her heart is forever benevolent and strong.
